I completely lack the imagination to give myself a new name. As you can tell from my user name.

I've never even really had a nickname.

Usually when I see your name I start singing that vampire weekend song in my head.

I like my first name. I liked it more before I got hired for this job with another person with the same name, and found out the boss also has the same name, and then they started calling me JD against my very specific requests.

Damn you Zach Braff, for preemptively making this dumb nickname terrible.

My middle name is Braun. I love it, but going by it would be a bit daft.

Braun is a company that makes shavers over here.

You could say your middle name is pretty sharp.

I used to not like my name much as a kid, just from knowing other Heathers. But I never knew anyone could go by their middle name, and I had a classmate with my middle name as her first name (Stacy).

I did luck out that I never had a Heather as a classmate though, so I never had to be known by my last name.

And the name my parents gave me is infinitely better than what they said they were going to. My mother liked Magnolia. My dad liked Esmeralda. I have never actually figured out if my dad was screwing with me, or if he was serious.

But names are hard! I was recently talking about them with Dan for what we could name future babies. I got one of my names approved, and several of them vetoed.

    Future babies sound awesome

    Do they come with jetpacks?

    Humperdink?

My middle name is a secret

I am actually named after both of my grandmothers, and my brother is named after both grandfathers but in the opposite order (I'm mother's side, father's side).

Back on page 12 of this thread I came in here and said I was going to lurk and learn the ways of fashion. But I totally forgot to do that. So I am still the least fashionable. Woops.

    Wait I know this one

I used to hate my first name, Kane, when I was younger. Then at some point during highschool it started to grow on me and I really like it these days.

I don't mind my middle name either.

My surname can most definitely go jump though.

Y'know, out of five kids, only one of my siblings goes by her first name. The rest of us all use our middle names, which I guess means my parents were pretty bad at naming kids.

You guys really could call me Muse IRL if you wanted to, that has been my internet identity as long as my nickname has been my common identity.

Exactly. I've been "Ahava" for so long online that being anything else is sometimes just weird.

I used to hate my middle name, but as i've grown up I've gotten better with it.

Now I kinda love it, as it is. but I hate the diminutive form still.

    It's Abigail. Not Abby.

    is it Avi-gyle or Abbi-gale?

Bit more reading, it sounds like it could be duty + a UPS fee for handling that for you.

Apparently it's a real hassle to pay the import fee yourself now? I dunno.

Hmm, that's still a bit shonky cause its not something I agreed to. I'll check my receipts and if I haven't paid shipping then ok, but if I have I'm gonna quiz him.

checked and I have already paid $US30 for shipping (which is almost as much as the items) so an extra 20 quid on top of that is some excessive bullshit. I don't know if I've got much recourse at this point, since I doubt the delivery person is going to have any discretion about the fee, but I'm definitely not going to buy anything from modcloth ever again, I'll be emailing them about it and also UPS.

I go by my middle name! It's fun when folks find out unexpectedly, I like to go with the "it's my ~secret identity~"

This week I wore 1 dress (which I got 4-5 compliments on), and 2 skirts.
With the skirts, I tucked in the top, as ya'll recommended. I never knew I could pull that off! :) Loved it!
Helped prevent the issue of the tops stretching out over the day and my figure being hidden
THANK YOU THREAD, YOU'RE THE BEST! <3

Also, I've been convincing myself that my front and back look good too, not just my profile.
Tucking in my tops with the skirts really helped with that~

Also apparently I was going to be Valerie

Then mom forgot it during childbirth

So she merged my grandmother's name (Sherry) and my great-grandmother's name (Lynn) and just made up Sherilyn

    BOOM, awesome name

    I love it

Except people keep calling me "Cheryl" or "Sharon" over the phone
