You keep minimizing the impact of knowing exactly who has what cards. The idea that I'm paying you for the privilege of you deigning to cast a scrap my way is pretty intolerable.

I'd like to throw out the piece of advice again (third time's a charm) that everyone should really wait until the Emperor alliance is either broke or at max cards before anyone try bidding more than 2 on anything.

And in my experience, knowing what cards everyone has isn't as powerful as you would think. Helpful, but not overpowering for several reasons. You only have that advantage once before they use the card and it becomes public, then everyone knows. Knowing what weapon or defense they have is only really useful if you yourself have multiple weapons or defenses to choose from.

Then in my opinion, out of all the factions with combat abilities, Atreides has the weakest. Knowing what card your enemy plays is pointless most of the time (you already know what they have) and as far as units committed you can usually make an educated guess on your own. The Bene Gessrit voice is much much more powerful. I would also take the Harkonnen abilities over Atreides any day.

I say this as someone who's played as and against the Atreides equivalent in REX. The only difference here is they get the Kwaadrardisch Hwarzwarchsisszzzle.

But yeah I agree a big part of these games is knowing how to leverage factions with early advantages against factions with long term advantages. I'd also like to say that I did warn everyone against bidding too much the first turn .
