Orik, you have inspired me to try my hand at designing a quest using Neverwinter's foundry. It's interesting how I can see all this stuff I want to do in my head, and then when I get into the editor I realize how much goes into actually making stuff look like that. Because it's kind of late for me right now, I've only made a very simple map and one NPC; hopefully I can at least finish the first area tomorrow.
@Dubh You might be interested to know that the quest involves kobolds and their antics.
fantastic! starting is really one of the hardest parts. the catch is so is everything else
today: writing website copy and making plans for illustrations. i'm hoping i can fake accuracy enough that only astrophysicists and engineers get pissed at me

What about just regular physicists? I could try to make up for my lack of specialization via extra rage.
ok so I have pretty much all the basics of movement, shooting gunz, picking up and tossing briefcases
I'm making a server browser right now and then once I can find and connect to hosts I'll get the game logic for the rules down (and try to get networking to not be a laggy mess)
I hope I'm not stealing your thread-thunder. I don't know where else to post this and I like the accountability posting on the internet creates
edit: server browser works, I've got the server being authoritative and it made movement sort of funky on clients so I'll do some dead-reckoning or whatever to predict /smooth it out later tonight... videogame break for now though... I'll have to recruit my roommates to help test out lots of client connections later

Feel free to post, yo. Things are gonna be a bit slow on this front until I get enough money and time in artists' hands to get something nice to show.
Last week, Sara and I dug out a bunch of my books from a closet to put on a new book shelf. I found my battered copy of Colonies in Space and immediately thought of this project.
those are fucking awesome, annie. i just bought lebbeus woods' monograph one-five-four and a book on architectural inventions about impossible/imaginary architectural structures.
it's a shame most of them conflict with the hard-sf feel i've got going, but they might be good if aliens show up or something. keeping me fresh in the meantime.
i wish the L5 society was still around. what an endorsement that would be!
in related news, i'm fucking crazy today. all kinds of anxiety and depression-related inability to think clearly. i beat it through caffeine and exercise, but some days (like today) you just have to power through it.
what i wouldn't give for a dedicated art team, investors, office space, being a real studio...
Took me most of the week, but a stub website and AppCampus application (!!!) is on its way to fruition. In the meantime I've fleshed out combat and crafting, and am turning back to code... familiar with the Coriolis effect? Jumping straight up and falling "backwards" and shooting big projectiles in unorthodox ways will be fun, I think, though I still gotta prototype it.

Hello. How are you?
I applied for an on-campus QA job for software dev students. It can be shitty work, I know, but it pays $15 an hour and I know I'm more than capable of performing well.
Crossing my fingers. Boring/tedious work doesn't get my anxiety all up in arms, which makes this ideal in several ways.
Miss me? Find me on:

It's basically on hold while I try to save up enough money to continue commissioning art and other assets. I'm working on a Shadowrun campaign in the meantime, though, and I might have a lead on a salaried job, so there's stuff on the horizon.
Latest news is that AppCampus is stopping their indie developer support thing, so I'm working on a Kickstarter hopefully to be completed before the Ouya Free The Games thing runs out. It's terrifying, but also I have extremely limited financial options for doing this stuff "for reals", and this is the best option remaining.

How would you build a zero-g gloryhole?

Turns out entire thing including the color prints is up on the National Space Society website: http://www.nss.org/settlement/ColoniesInSpace/colorplates.html
They also have archives of the old newsletter for the L5 Society: http://www.nss.org/settlement/L5news/index.html
Kinda cool.

It's one reason I opted to spend a couple weeks working on this instead of jobhunting, as fucking nervewracking as it is.
its a goofy thing to love, but my body loves it and it makes my brain happy too
