    I'm excited for a second season of Hataraku Maou. I wonder what direction they can take the show though as I haven't read the light novels.
    Maou and Emilia seem to have reached a truce so that conflict is gone. Introducing more ladies to the harem cast might bog it down.

    I expect with every new arc/book, there will be at least one new female character introduced in each. It's a common harem tactic, so it's not something I'm particularly looking forward to.

    But on the upside, we'll also probably get a new demon in turn, so that should balance things out.

    I would be more satisfied to see the existing minor characters get more prominent roles, like Maou's supervisor and Emi's co-worker buddy.

    From what I heard

    (light novel spoilers of 1st season)
    Emi's co-worker buddy is supposed to play a much bigger role, especially in getting Emi set up and situated in this new world. She's supposed to be Emi's Ashiya.

    I guess they downplayed and cut it out to streamline the season, but hopefully they bring those elements back in for a 2nd season.

    -He's never gone full power once.
    -He's a first generation angel trying to pass himself off as a second gen (current fallen angels still keep their white wings) It's insinuated that he's older than both Maou and Ashiya
    his "defeat" was actually the lynchpin that led to the fall of Maou's empire (remember that dropped plot point)

    If anything, I'd want the second season to spend an episode or two detailing Maou's rise to power and how he commanded the respect of a nation of bloodthirsty ghouls

    I appreciated that the show was willing to keep the dynamic changing as new characters show up, but by the end I was kinda feeling like it was reaching the end of its freshness, so I won't be that bummed if there's no season 2. The characters had moved about as close to resolving their relationships as they could get without simply eliminating all the comedic tension, so they were kinda starting to move into sitcom-ville relationship hold. They did a great job producing this show though, the voice acting, sound effects, and animation all sold the hell out of the jokes.

    A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

    I disagree. I was enjoying how they were building relationships that had nothing to do with romance, like Maou and Ashiya or Emi and Chiho. I enjoyed that amusement park episode despite initial misgivings of the fanservice, and I'd love to see a similar episode where the demon trio hang out.

    Really, I could go for more mundane episodes like that and less demon/church shenanigans.

    We absolutely need a "Maou meets Chiho's parents" episode too.

    If there is another season we'll probably meet the other generals. You can't foreshadow a group and not show who all the members are.
