dead space did atmosphere really right. However it lost all effect because i knew when something did pop out, i was going to kill it in about 12 seconds, and be fine.
That was the big problem with DS1: the setting didn't leave much room for surprises. You were told to go fix a thing or collect a thing, so you power-walk through a hallway and shoot some monsters.
The variety in DS2's location allowed for more unique set-pieces, meaning you weren't always prepared for what would happen next. You could compare it to Aliens-to-Alien, but it still resulted in a better game.
I don't know. I felt most the encounter areas where set up in such a way to telegraph what was about to happen.
I've largely found dead space to be a much better looking doom 3.
doom 3 telegraphed everything if you knew what to look for. Which might be from all my years of doom.
Welcome to the new Giant Bomb thread, Giant Bomb takes place after the events of Gamespot, where video game journalists are now used for entertainment instead of outright hostile conflicts. Piloting giant mechs based on animals, both fictional and real, these journalists go head-to-head on enormous battlefields, earning prize money and ranks. Primarily the series focuses on a team of protagonists, the underdogs within the industry trying to climb the ladder and make a name for themselves amongst the big boys of video games journalism.
Drew Scanlon stars as Bit Cloud, the hero of the series as he pilots his prototype, thought-to-be-useless Zoid, Liger Zero. A former video editor and camerman Drew later develops a bond with the Liger Zero and proves himself to be the star pilot of Team Giant Bomb.
Jeff Gerstmann stars as Dr. Steve Toros, the head manager and creator of Team Giant Bomb. While eccentric and loose with his money, he manages to pull the team out of some tough spots and is a surprisingly sound strategist. That is, when his obsession with small, collectible figurines doesn't get in his way.
Ryan Davis stars as Leon Toros, the son of the team manager and head, Leon doesn't let anything get past him and tries his best to remain level-headed despite his hot personality. Aside from Jeff Gerstmann's character, he is also the most experienced in the battlefield of games journalism. Incidentally, this part was Leena Toros in the original Japanese version, however due to licensing and adaptation issues, the role was reconfigured to be more "audience-friendly" as producers have put it.
Patrick Klepek stars as Brad Hunter, a mercenary who joins Team Giant Bomb and was formerly the latest addition to the crew. While others criticise him heavily, the man carries that weight like nothing else and proves he's cool under pressure. Fun fact: His name in the original Japanese version is "Ballad", all too fitting with Klepek's status as a rock god.
Brad Shoemaker stars as Jaime Hemeros, the main tactical backbone and general ombudsman of the team. He carries a lot of Giant Bomb on his shoulders and deals with plenty of nerves especially with the crowds watching. That doesn't stop him from being loyal and dependable in the most dire of circumstances. Even if that means his performance issues overtake and he becomes...
The Wild Eagle
Portrayed by Vinny Caravella. The alter-ego and split personality that exudes all the confidence and loud cocky attitude that Jaime wishes he possessed on the field of battle. Insane, reckless, he plays it loose and cares not for the consequences. All that matters is that he has fun, that's winning to him, even if it means losing to others.

I'm ragging on it right now, but I have to admit I had fun with it. I'd say it's worth $30.
It just doesn't compare favorably to the previous two games, I think.

Yeah
Because none of the GB crew has ever said or done something incorrectly in a vidya game
I'm trying to think of a situation where "the new guy" ruined the dynamic of the team.
Instead, all I can think about is the Green Ranger.
And the Green Ranger was awesome.

Thank you, Vow.
I'm glad you respect THE LAW.
As someone with an avatar of a fictional police officer. I'm going to allow it.

It was just him, Shaggy, Scooby and I think Daphne sometimes. And some kid no one remembers.
If Patrick didn't replace anyone, he counts as an addition.
