yeah I don't really understand the problem there

I guess maybe they should have just put "skin color" there?

  • UnbreakableVowUnbreakableVow Registered User regular
    It's not just skin color

I should have posted other shots before I completed my character for context

It will change features as well based on the quadrant they're in

Which is to say, it will slant your eyes for one quadrant, and give you bigger lips in another

It just seems like such a weird damn implementation of it

Everybody shut up, I made some gifs.

Note that you're not going to be able to use gifs for avatar AND signature since all of them are hitting the 100kb limit.

No problem! But you're going to have to choose to keep either the av or the sig. The limit is 100kb combined and both of those are 96.

Personally I like the lower right Brad Muir to most, but then I'm using the best Brad right now.

The first time I watched Zodiac was on a 17 hour bus trip where I was at the back and the TV was at the front.

That is not a good way to watch that movie.

    Fun Zodiac fact:

Robert Downey, Jr. peed in jars between takes and left them hidden all over the sets

This was apparently the first film he'd acted in that was shot with digital cameras, which are much faster to reload than film cameras, which would have normally given him time to go take a piss

  • TallahasseerielTallahasseeriel Registered User regular
I bet you can find those jars on the internet now.

What kind of messed up production doesn't let an actor go to the restroom between takes?

A David Fincher one, I guess

I won't argue with the man's results, though

I do believe it was more a form of protest against not having longer breaks kinda built into your workday. Film cameras would only get roughly ten minutes of footage before they had to stop and reload. That's a lot of breaks.

Robert Downey actually came up to me and he said: “I can’t work like this. I never get to go to my trailer. I can never get my shit together. I’m on my feet 14 hours a day. I’m shooting all the time.” He actually left mason jars of urine on the set, just like over in the corner and stuff. Just… he would go off and pee and then bring it back and it was his form of protest.

This ain't video games, but we ain't got a real boardgames thread, so here I shall post it

I just grabbed the licensed boardgame for Spartacus: Blood on the Sand. A show I've never even watched! The game is called Spartacus: A Game of Blood and Treachery, and damned if that ain't accurate as all hell. Just played a three-man game, and it's a hoot and a half. Blind auctions, gladiatorial combat, a mechanic that's literally called "scheming" - man, it's just the best.

One of my buddies fashioned himself an entrepeneur. He invested piles of gold in slaves. He'd outbid the rest of us whenever one came up in the market, he'd make impossible-to-refuse deals for the ones we had in our hands. Turn after turn, he'd rake in a fortune off his forced laborers. He'd place savvy bets in the arena combat. He'd launch schemes that filled his coffers and drained ours. He'd cackle with glee as he outbid us on armor and gladiators we coveted.

My other buddy became a politician. He'd bring to bear schemes requiring multiple collaborators. He'd make offers, he'd wheel, he'd deal, he'd sometimes outright lie. He'd raise his influence, he'd lower others', but he'd make sure he never screwed anybody bad enough they'd turn down a beneficial offer next turn. He knew when to shear a sheep instead of slaughter it, as it were.

I was a combatant. I went all-in on an early bid for a powerful gladiator. I impoverished myself, sacrificing my ability to purchase slaves, purchase gear, bid for the illustrious honor of hosting the arena combat. But if I was invited to combat? I was unstoppable. I could, and did, level foes in a single blow. I became a bargaining chit for the other players. "Take this deal, or when I'm hosting, you'll fight Theokeles." My gladiator accrued fame, became beloved. My influence grew with his popularity.

In the end, the Politician and I were tied. The only way to settle a tie in Spartacus? Arena combat. The Politician could see it coming - he was always a few steps ahead. He spent his every dime on gear, trying for any advantage he could get in our game-deciding showdown.

It wasn't enough. Theokeles threw a javelin through his combatant's chest within seconds of the match's start. His combatant fought valiantly, but a comeback proved impossible. Before long, he was on his knees, waiting for the verdict of the Arena host.

    Thumbs down.
