one thing: is there an actual difference in choosing the bird or cage, is it one of those illusion of choice things?
At the end, when you get the message
from future Elizabeth with the picture of the cage on it, I had picked the bird.
I thought it was going to turn out to mean that we had to go back in time and make the other decision. That something trivial had unforeseen consequences. But controlling Songbird was cool too
The thing with that is that the symbolism is a reversal of expectations
The bird is the obvious choice to take, as birds typically signify freedom while cages mean imprisonment
but the Songbird is keeping Elizabeth chained, while CAGE is the song required to take control of Songbird and you use it at the end of the game to free Elizabeth
So I finally got the Biosock Infinite artbook, it's really beautiful. Here's some things I thought were interesting:
The game started off much more like Bioshock, having you arrive after the war has already happened with Columbia in ruins. It had a much darker look and there was even little sister types.
There were originally a group of "flying Big Daddies" called the Mothmen.
There was a time where the citizens would be combined with alternative version of themselves to becomemulti-facedmonsters. Don't click on those if you don't want nightmares.
The Bioshock artists like to use the term stabby stabby

I'm still glad they went the different direction.

I mean, post-failure Sky-Rapture would have been cool, I guess (especially with those designs), but it would have felt like they were leaning too heavily on the original bioshock design. Unfavourable comparisons to bioshock 2 (which I enjoyed, but felt somewhat unnecessary) would have been a thing.

Also those types of regulations were probably even more lax 120 years ago.

Perhaps it means everything.
Nah, I'm just messing with you.

but I do like that her new outfit is practically the exact same as her starting outfit but adjusted for the time period

it's just an interesting reversal.
