Ugh, the worst part of downloading to the Vita is if you have to pause and resume downloads. One of the following occurs:
A) Vita has either misplaced or somehow cannot verify the partial download and restarts the download Everything is peachy, download resumes normally
C) Everything looks peachy but the Vita decides to restart anyways
This will probably never affect you unless you have to deal with slow, shitty internet. But for the last few months that is all I've had. And it can make downloading large files such a pain.
Wow, the PS3 version of XCOM is unbelievably choppy
Is it not worth playing in that state, or is it tolerable? My laptop isn't the best at gaming, and was looking forward to playing this one for free.
It's tolerable. Well, depending on your level of tolerance I guess. Chops up around the start of a mission, and has little fits here and there.
I personally don't mind putting up with it, especially given the price point. But yeah... what the heck is up with this game's performance?
I don't remember having any real issues with XCOM. Maybe a minor hiccup here or there but nothing that I felt was remarkable or compromised my experience.

I'm still hoping for a sale on Okami HD. Biding my time.
It's a bone of contention that I hope changes with the PS4. I hate the download and then install it.
If you background download you download and install. If you download in the store itself (not in the background) it installs as part of the download without requiring twice the space.
I don't think it's exactly twice the space, but yeah the store yelled at me, despite having 50 gigs or so free. Had to do some pruning. Probably time for a bigger hard drive.

The OS trailer seems to suggest that the process will be a lot faster/easier this time around.
Well they've already said that you can start playing a game before you've finished downloading it, so I think it's safe to say installing will be going away.
Anyone else in the FFXIV PS3 beta? It's not something I'd usually do, as I don't play MMOs and have no real interest in them but I just got a beta key and figure I'll give it a go.
I actually wanna' try XIV, but I can't be moved to put any effort into it. If a beta key just magically appeared in front of me, I would totally use it and try that game out - but really, it's probably best for my mental and physical health to never touch another MMORPG again.
Once upon a time, though... I was a Samurai in FFXI. Nothin' in that game felt better than teaming up with some of those (crazy-professional) Japanese players and actually impressing them by breaking out a six-hit solo skillchain and killing a linked mob on a bad pull. When a JP player cheered you, it was as if Scarlett Johansson had looked you up and down and said "wow, you've got some serious sex appeal."

The whole process involving downloading, then installing Uncharted is all the proof I need that our digital only future is still a long ways off.
Yeah, the Sony digital method is goddamn awful. When Ni No Kuni came out, people were having trouble playing it after paying for it because you need double the space it asks of you.
Sony seems to want to fix this though.
Pretty sure a lot of those issues will disappear once the PS4 hits. Seems like they've been saddled with the PS3's flaws for forever.
@RandomHajile, no clue how you got it so quickly. Maybe you lucked out with your PS3 and got a decent wireless chip with it?
Anyway, just jumped into Home for the first time since the very first beta to do the E3 stuff and wow, still not for me but it's improved an absurd amount. One guy drove past me in a fucking hover bike.
Could be. I got one of the last 60GB models that I had seen in stores because the 80GBs were just coming out. Seems like the updates are still normally slower than that demo downloaded, though.
Well I nabbed Sound Shapes (finally) and wow it is fantastic. I had an "ah ha!" moment right when the music picked up in the tutorial and a huge grin crept up my face. It is fantastic. Everyone who doesn't have it, get it now while it is so cheap.
So I never really bothered much with my PS3 even though I've had it a long time, mostly cause I basically gotta unplug the net from my PC and connect it to the PS3(if anyone knows of a better way that wouldn't involve me buying another 100' ethernet cord, I'm all ears) BUT I wanna get PS+ rolling. What all would I get? I hear some people speak of $200 worth of games.

As of right now, you'll get 2 or 3 AAA games immediately, then more whenever they're rolled out in the coming months. Games come and go, so you have to "buy" them while they're up, even if you don't download and play. You'll keep those games as long as you have PS+, or if you cancel then renew.
Since I got PS+ a year ago, I've gotten loads of free games and others at pretty incredible deals. For less than the cost of one game a year. It really works out fantastically.
Ok bros, I'm gonna ride out the last few months of this gen on my PS3. Add DrSkullnumbers if you wanna be internet BFFs
I downloaded a bunch of PS+ stuff last night, but ended up playing Machinarium the most. I'd heard good things, but I had no idea it was a point and click thing. Very charming game.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
I'm continually amazed by how awesome a deal PS+ is.
Deus Ex, Uncharted 3, and XCOM - all solid solid titles.
Deus Ex I already played and beat, but not Uncharted or XCOM!
And this is for a service that costs $4 a month.
Plus, free machinarium! (Puzzle point and click game with what I found to be charming artwork)
I saw someone say that ICO/Shadow of colossus was on PS+ free, but turns out that was for Europe. Oh well!
The best part is your game collection grows without you having to lift a finger.
If you're like me and always have a HUUUUUUGE backlog of games and don't mind waiting to play the latest greatest releases, it's possible you might never have to buy anything.
I plan to get a vita, don't have one yet, but I am still downloading the vita games from PS+ to add them to my account.
I bet one could do the same thing with whatever games go on the PS4. If you aren't planning to buy a PS-4 until middle of next year some time, you might already have a decent collection for it built up by the time you buy the console itself.
Need a separate account with hului think? Atleast that's how it worked with Netflix. You could use it independently of ps + provided you were subbed with Netflix. Unlike on Xbox.

So Pinball Arcade was something I should not have downloaded, it is going to easily distract me for awhile from finishing CoH 2 and Persona 2. What I am saying is, it's a lot of fun. I should probably check out Zen Pinball.
When do VLR and GEB become available? I guess I misunderstood when they said stuff was unlocking on tuesday (well some stuff did, just not anything I can play right now).

Every Tuesday, a new game or two appears as part of the IGC. Usually, some other game gets retired from the IGC. They've changed to a format in which they announce all of the upcoming IGC games at the beginning of the month, then unlock them week by week. This is a bit better than "here's a random game on Tuesday!" format that they were doing before, I think.

I personally prefer what Pinball Arcade offers to what Zen Pinball does. There are quite a few folks that prefer Zen though. Check it out and form your own opinion really. I too have fallen into the trap of games that don't really end thanks to Pinball Arcade, MW:O, and some KSP. I'm going to have to keep the PS3 and PS4 both hooked up for quite awhile.

I have a feeling I will never beat a single mission.
If I were Sony I'd be extra generous from now and a while into release of the PS4. It's an easy way to get some nice word of mouth and positive buzz.
Also, Dyad was $7.34 back in December.

I bought Unfinished Swan when they were having that sale that was ending soon, just cause I knew enough about it that I wanted to own it for later.

I'll allow it. This time.
But seriously, I have a feeling it will go on sale again.

This game is great, I would have never picked it up on my own, and I grabbed it free months ago and on a whim just started it up yesterday.
The niche stuff like this and spec ops I like getting even more than big titles.
With that said, off to go trade in saints row 3 towards Last of Us! Thanks, PS+!
I appear to have access to hulu plus on my PS3 and I can't figure out how or why.

No. You can have the hulu plus application downloaded to the PS3 but you still need a hulu plus account to use it.
