    Have a PC demo, gentlemen!

    http://videogames.lego.com/en-us/lego-marvel-super-heroes/demo-download

    My initial thoughts

-Wow have lego games come a long way; all the various piles of pieces that you use to build stuff are no longer a non-interactive pile; they can be knocked around and stuff.

Also, some of the animations in this game is awesome. So far I've seen
Hulk's slamming dudes around, exactly in time to the bit from Avengers when he kicked Loki's ass.
Hulk smacking a dude into the air and then KICKING them away
Iron Man tossing a guy over his shoulder and then hitting him with a repulser while they're on the ground.

Can't wait for the full version to hit; anyone know if it'll be on Steam? I'm guessing not, because Disney.

I look forward to some first hand honest impressions though.

Anyone ballsy enough to give the Vita version a look?

I don't know if that is worrisome or it is just Steam being awesome. I'll probably still get it on 360 though.

PC Lego games tend to be $30 at launch for some reason, even when not on Steam.

As a burgeoning neo-Luddite, I prefer my games on physical medium.

Well so far this game is equal to or better than Lego Batman 2. I liked the move to voicework, even though it sometimes over-punctuates the wackiness of the Lego universe, but to each his own. But man, the detail. From Spider-Man doing his classic web slinging pose while jumping, to Iron Man doing the "punch the ground" pose he does when he lands from flying. The amount of stuff they're cribbing from all the Marvel movies, even those that Sony controls... if anything it makes you wonder what could have been if Marvel had full control over the likes of X-men, Spider-Man, ect. for their own movies.

So far though my chief complaint is one I have of all these Lego games. Sometimes it's really fucking esoteric and confusing on just what I'm supposed to do in a level. I'm also worried there may be too much bloat with the character and having to keep track of who has what power. I've already ran into some overlap. There are switches that require a web power to latch on and pull them, so obviously Spider-Man, but Hawkeye can use some of them as well with rope arrows. But there are some he also can't use, so... yeah, might get a tad confusing during free play.

Iirc, if you've unlocked a character with a power you need, you'll have access to him automatically when you free play.

I am loving this game. So many cool little things really stand out. Little Things like Watching hulk change into banner and back again show off the detail put into making the game so damn cute.

Are anyone else's achievements not popping on the Steam version? I checked the global statistics and less than .2% of people have the achievement for beating the first level.

Yeah, achievements on the Steam version are broke at the moment.

Bought 360 version of the game for my boy this weekend(He cashed in all his saved up reward fund). Overall the game is pretty awesome. The sheer number of characters including multiple versions of some characters is amazing. I played with him some and watched during most of his playtime so far. The game play itself seems pretty good and its a treat every time we get through a level and see what new characters will show up next either to play as or as bad guys to fight against.

I love the Lego games, but they sure can be frustrating. At least a couple of times every session I have absolutely no idea of what to do. How in the world do kids make it through these; button-mash until they get it right?

My boy is only 7 but has played the crap out of the Lego games... so he knew what to do a bunch of times in the Marvel Lego what to do when I didn't have a clue.

The worst part is I'm never really sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if the game is bugged. In the Lord of the Rings, a cut-scene didn't start so M'Lady Sif and I were wandering around the same small area forever trying to figure out what to do. In Pirates of the Carribean, one mission at the very end had some sort of sound bug that repeatedly froze the system.

Have there been any reported glitches in this one? Or is this just previous games giving you doubts?

My boy got stuck a few times in places with a character they couldn't get out that required an exit and restart of the level on the 360 version(both real close to the start of the area) but other than that really haven't ran into any major glitches in this one. Nothing like on Lego Star Wars 3 where a couple times he got to the very end of a long level only to have one of the final event sequences not activate requiring the replaying of a whole long level.

Same story here. Haven't had or read about anything major, but have had to restart the PS3 once when the game hung up. It's mostly just past experiences, @redfield85. It's just a shame that it has happened enough that whenever we get stuck, M'Lady Sif will ask, "is this game bugged too?"

My gf and I were wondering the same damn thing. The split screen effect can be a real pain in the ass too since you may have to shoot an object off your half of the screen but since your view is locked in that split mode you can't aim at the objective. It's pretty frustrating at times.

On the plus side the game is a blast visually, the voice work is fun to listen to, all the little animation touches are great, and the humor is great. It's just lacking in the gameplay department.

It's pretty crazy you can fly up/down to the Helicarrier seamlessly.

Kids enjoy the game because they dont yet have any sense of progression. I tried playing lego with my 3 year old nephew who my mother swore was amazing at video games. First time we got to a spot where it required two people to work together and stand on a switch or something, we just couldnt progress. It didnt keep him from having fun just continuously dying off a ledge however. it just made me bored :)

Odin's beard! Why won't they make a real Thor minifig with that helmet?

But he's had one in the comics for all of 50 years.

It's kind of annoying how characters like Spiderman who have transformations don't let you switch to other characters without using a call-in point.

Superior Spiderman is satisfyingly superior in that aspect.

Either hold the switch button again while they're transforming, or just jump in the air and do it.

The entire UI of the character roster and switching is... not very good.

The best part about the game is it combines all the new hawtness of the movies with all the old greatness of the comics, without having to worry about "well, company X owns the rights to character such-and-such, so we can't mention them."

I love having all of these characters in one game.

I thought we were talking about "real" minifigures.
