Now I can point to this when people don't understand what I am talking about with why you need to validate your logic in your service level even though your UI already does!
This is true in every MMO. Failure to do so is one of the biggest culprits of how you end up with duping, speed hacks, etc.

Yeah, but it is so trivial it is a better example than anything I could contrive!
I think a complete rollback would be OK since most people still considered it to be an open beta. But that would only make complete sense to me if they could fix all those exploits Tricon post, but that's impossible to do in a short period of time, let alone without introducing more headaches.

Are you telling me you wouldn't do the same thing for 6 thousand dollars?
Shit I cought on late and only abused it for a bit over 800 million AD. Looking for sites to sell my goodies off to now. And you know what? I am proud of what I did. It's a game that launched ful of bugs and exploits. I mean really, putting on my class epic set allowed me to instantly kill anything and everything! Yeah that is completley my fault there.
Grow a pair.
Hopefully they don't do the smart thing and wipe before I can get rid of my loot. My guildees would be really pissed off to lose all the epics I handed out.
Edit: Too late. I sold it for $973. I am also still playing. Doubt they can even track anything. Look at Envy, that dude has been caught abusing this bug and is still in game too. Cryptic/PWI are money grabbing cash whores. Why shouldn't we be? After all, they gave us the tools.
UPDATE - READ THIS:
LOL. I received a 72 hour ban. The best part is that none of my mule accounts were caught. Rofl great job "looking into" things Cryptic! Four of my accounts with level 60 mules were not even touched, and I exploited quest sharing to no end, as well as transferred tons of gear to them! Quite a bit of purples and AD on all them still, and I am sure they didn't delete anything from my main either, just gave me a VERY SCARY 72 hour ban
Honestly why not take advantage of Cryptic if they are so fucking lax when it comes to dealing with people that cheat.
Hopefully after I sell everything from my mules, I can make a few hundred more bucks and get a nice gaming laptop. Probably not going to play NW anymore until more bugs come out, and seeing as how it's Cryptic - more bugs WILL come out.
It boggles my mind why they don't wipe to fix the economy. It is such an easy solution, and the game is still in Beta! Not that I mind, since it gives me time to auction my goods and sell off my AD. Just wondering why they didn't do this yet lol.
Update 2:
I already have that guy beat, and I am sure lots of others do as well because AD buying web sites are now paying rock bottom for AD.
Thanks to the AH exploit, I made enough AD to sell it off and bring my total cash earned to $7432. Now everything is disabled and the game is most likely ruined. It was nice while it lasted Cryptic. Hopefully this teaches you to not start charging real money while the game is still in Beta.
And btw, only my main GF exploiter is still stuck with a short ban. I'm out. Hope they have fun tracing my spoofed MAC and phony IP, as well as going through the VPN I hit.
This is also my last reddit post as max, since this IP is not "technically" mine, and I don't want to post from my real IP/account.

Official word:
A: Early Sunday morning a very small group of players discovered and abused a game exploit within the Neverwinter Open Beta that affected the Auction House and Astral Diamonds.
I don't know what PWE think is a small group but with stuff like this
You could look into the AH and find hundreds of listings in the AH, not to mention all the other exploits........
That the game is effected with cross-server-bugs that got fixed in STO over a month ago like this exploit or "minor" bugs like a 2 min cd on all your powers, doesn't look good for the NWO dev team..................
The "six thousand dollar" guy there is bragging about exploiting the set armor damage bug.
This current issue is about a bunch of people conjuring AD out of thin air via the negative bidding bug.
It's not exactly a good thing that there are two wholly separate major economy-wrecking exploit issues back to back, but if we're going to snarkily dissect PR statements let's at least be fair. It would not be hard for a "relatively small number of players" to clean out the entire auction house of valuables when they discover a way to effortlessly buy any item and get a free gift of millions of AD as they do it. It's the buyers that were exploiting, the sellers do not represent exploiters, so one exploiter can generate dozens and dozens of "examples" of the negative bid bug.
Also to note, they did say that this has been known for a while, but that exploiters prior to the catsplosion (I like that word, I am using it to refer to this whole thing) made up a fraction of a percentage of the total damage. How true that is, none of us will ever know.
And what are they bragging about anyway? It's not like they can move money out of the game. Hooray, they got the Zen-bought stuff from exploiting. Congratulations on your sparkling internet pony.

Well one sold his astral diamonds to the usually gold sellers. This way you can turn your virtual cash into real $.
Not to mention what impact this has on the market for the rest of the players.......
However I do find it rather funny/ironic that a game PWE messed with so much on the cash end of things is getting so jacked up by people finding ways to exploit it and get cash basically.
Yeah, he gets that. He does have some good insights into various games' mechanics (not necessarily exploits) though.
Interesting that he was only banned for 72 hours. Amusingly, he's not sure why he was temp-banned, and apparently of the people he plays only some were temp banned.
Ya I like Kripp's videos when its actually about the game itself. He didn't complain to much about his Neverwinter ban and seemed to not really care... but bringing up the GW2 thing just makes him look whiney.
Exploitus, master of the Exploit school of sorcery. He can tear through the very fabric of reality to conjure magical weapons and vast wealth. Unfortunately, he makes dark bargains with demonic forces. When the time comes, the devils who hold his contract will come for him. Sometimes he will be sucked into their realm for all time, sometimes only for 72 hours. Though you should know, to the unfortunate soul trapped in the Nega-Sploit, those 72 hours are akin to an eternity of torment. Verily, even the immense wealth they will return to is little consolation for the torture he faces.

And here I was worried for multi looting the 3 chests in the "Storm the Keep" skirmish.
I dunno. I finally got to 35 with my new GWF and did Mad Dragon again. That encounter breaks my enthusiasm for this game every time. The game is fun, but between it loosing its spark a bit and these crazy ass exploit. I don't know if its worth it.
Press on after the Mad Dragon. I hit the same wall with my Control Wizard, and the Mad Dragon battle left me huddled in the fetal position, sucking my thumb and wondering what the world's come to.
I'm of the mind that it's virtually impossible for a "at level" (35) group to do. I came back with a few people in their late 30's, and we stomped him. Was still A LOT harder than it should've been.
Mad Dragon is just stupid tuned. After that the dungeons (at least to 50) seem very doable. Sadly, Cryptic's idea of an encounter never varies (1 boss with a boatload of HP and MOAR ADDS!), but the other encounters seem like as long as your group has their heads on straight you will be fine after a wipe or two to understand what is going on.
Biggest issue with pugs is 'LOL KILL BOSS!' Later bosses, due to the sheer number of adds, become impossible if you just try to burn the boss because you end up spawning so many adds (they seem to come at % markers on the boss) that they just demolish your group.

Yeah as far as I can tell there are always additional adds at specific percentages. However, some adds will continually respawn as well.
For example, Throne of Idris always has 2 baddies, and if you kill one a replacement always pops. So at certain points, you just need to kill the percentage based ones, control the 2 always there mobs, and then dpsers need to focus on burning down the boss.
So I logged in tonight to see that I had lost about 4 hours worth of gameplay from yesterday, promptly said fuck it and logged off. I'll probably get back to it soon, but I just really hate repeating content over again, especially grindy MMO content. Though now I really see that yeah had they done a full wipe, I'd never have touched the game again.
Time for a break. Legacy of Romulus (Star Trek Online expansion) goes live today.
With all the exploits going on, the just posted another exploit list, how easy it is to farm t2 elite bosses (some even solo).
I will finish my own foundry mission but after that I am out for some time......

It's always funny to me when people puff up their chests and brag about basic security measures like they're hot stuff.

It's not like Cryptic is going to do anything more than ban you and it appears like they aren't even willing to do that.

Was hoping this game would give me a fix for D&D, but I think what I'd love more is a turn-based tactical 4E D&D game.
Caturday Survival Packs going out to all characters created before the Sunday morning.
They're giving us a "Caterday Survivor's Pack" for the shitstorm earlier.
