I'm really, really tired of these "games journalists" who are trying their damnedest to pretend they are interested in or even understand what's going on. Especially when it's women who are pretty clearly only in front of the camera because titties. I'm pretty sure this is why G4 is dead.
Late to comment on this but audrey drake SUCKS in this gameplay. She is probably the worst embodiment of what you say, the other female journalists are completely fine from what i can tell. There's definitely some shitty males in there too who pretend to care but really couldn't give a shit about nintendo. Most work for gametrailers.

Speaking of which, that Mario Kart Developer Interview video thing mentioned how it's possible to set up tournaments with certain rules. I wonder if "No Items" or, more importantly, "No Blue Shells" will be among the available rules.

I hope they don't wuss out on Battle Mode. Like, they seem to have some weird rule that Battle Mode can only have X number of courses, where X is a super low number like 4 or 6. Seriously, just stick all the courses from previous Mario Karts in there. Like, the MK64 Battle Mode courses alone are all fantastic and should be in every Mario Kart (also I seriously miss Double Decker - they never bring that one back)
I don't think blue shells are that bad with the modern blue shell-splosion they have. Tends to take out people near you if they're close, so it's not as totally bullshitty. But it's Mario Kart and I don't take that super seriously, get my srsface racing fix in other places.

Nintendo does good work with not very much in terms of hardware power. Galaxy looked incredible on the Wii, and there are plenty of 3DS games that I don't think should be actually running on a system that relatively weak. Strong art direction letting them get away with simplifying in certain areas helps a lot I think.
I bring this up because I think Yoshiaki Koizumi is someone Nintendo really needs to bring to the forefront. I remembered hearing his name and looking over his wikipedia page I remembered right; he created the story for Link's Awakening, Majora's Mask (including the 3 day time cycle), and Super Mario Galaxy's storybook and now he's the one who pushed for playable Peach. I really hope he gets to do more stuff with Zelda too.

I think most would agree the best stuff currently available would be New Super Mario Bros. U, ZombiU, Lego City Undercover, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.
Game and Wario is coming out soon, and Wonderful 101 and Pikmin 3 aren't too far off either.
