I'm a bit confused on one point. Will this be the only chance to get the spectral lotus gardens or can I just buy them later for some cash? Are they Kickstarter exclusive?

As far as I understand it, only the mercenaries and sleeves are locked to your accounts. I think the cards you get from the kickstarter, while exclusive in the sense they can't be obtained elsewhere, can still be traded or sold to other players.
So in theory you could get one from a kickstarter down the road.
I'm not the type of person who can spend competition level $ on these games so most of my fun will come from a few drafts a month and the PvE side of the game.

I don't see why you couldn't do the Collector on a separate account. Just trade the stuff you want back to your other account, and if you hit a point where it makes sense you could just try to sell the second account, hopefully for at least what you paid for it.
Yeah, that may be the way to go.
I've always wondered how exactly you sell a MMO account to someone else. I mean sure, you can receive someone's money through PayPal, wipe your payment info from your account, and then give them your passwords and say "have fun," but can all of the original owners profile information be changed by the buyer?
DK gets 310/10/10 boosters of set 1/2/3, Collector gets 155/15/15 (see also year of weekly drafts)
DK gets 2 Primal packs, Collector gets 1
DK gets 8 starters and 2 dragon's blood starters, Collector gets 4/1
DK gets 6 free drafts, Collector gets 3 (see also year of weekly drafts)
DK gets 6 free months of VIP, Collector gets 3
DK gets 2 of each crafting component (maybe?), Collector gets 1 of each
DK gets 4 bonus Legendary equipments, Collector gets 2
DK gets 4x each Kickstarter exclusive card and 2 Lotus Gardens, Collector gets 3x each KS exclusive card and 2 Gardens
Collector gets 52 free drafts, one per week for a year, which is the equivalent of 156 boosters (some of which will inevitably be Set 2 and Set 3).
Collector also gets the 2x6 alternate art PVP cards per year for the life of the game, exclusive to the Kickstarter backers and comprised of CZE-selected Rare and Legendary pvp cards.
So DK gets a ton more stuff up front, including a full playset of each Kickstarter card and a gigantic amount of boosters, but they're nearly all Set 1. Collector gets less up front, but gets more Set 2/Set 3 boosters and those intangible alternate art cards, which could turn out to be very desirable.
And I thought $150 was a lot to spend on a game when I backed Star Citizen. I think I'm going to go Collector >< These tiers are devious. I just want a fun game I can play on my tablet, hah.

I think your analysis is sound--it really depends on how long you'll stick with the game.
For instant gratification, Double Kings get you more cards. For the long haul, Collector will net you exclusive, tradable cards for the life of the game.
I try to play the long game whenever possible, so I agree with your decision to go Collector. :-)
Sigh... been watching the manage pledge page and there have been no early bird kings release as far as I could tell. There has been some movement in Pro player as earlier today it show 0 available and then went to -4 and is now -2 available. I think if you can get in the window when the number is positive it's actually letting more people in the tier than its supposed to. So far no luck on getting in on that though.
Edit: Early Bird King just went to -2 so I must have missed one freeing up.

I've read that folks have been using auto-refresh plugins for their browsers to snipe pledge tiers as the get dropped. They set it to search for "1 of 915 available" or whatever and play a sound if it shows up. Then if you have already upped your pledge amount on KS to cover the new tier, you just click the tier and snag it.
So, unfortunately, if you aren't doing the same the chances are low that you'll see an opening and be able to react in time . . . .

How have I missed this Kickstarter? And to think that if I had run into it 2 hours later, I wouldn't have been able to join in.
I'm happily waiving bye bye to $50, because this looks amazing.
I upped from Warrior to King because I hate my wallet and want to punish it (also the Lotus sleeves are awweeeesome). I know the next higher tiers are a better deal with the free draft a week for a year, but I don't think I can justify the extra 130 dollars. At least not in the next hour.
Sets 2 and 3 will actually be worth something, which makes Collector make sense. No cards from set 1 are going to be worth anything ever, just because of how much we're all going to glut the market.
I just took a listen to the soundtrack. It's very well done music, certainly a good orchestration. That said, it's fairly standard/generic to the genre and I imagine I'll be muting it eventually.
I've also started playing the Everquest card game again. It scratches the proper itch: You create a hero, build your deck around the hero and gameplay surrounds completing quests. Also, there's lots of PvE content.

Do we expect Hex to have a way to "earn" cards by playing the way Duel of Champions does? For that matter does the EQ CCG have that?

I think the only way to earn pve cards is through doing pve things. I think pvp cards can be earned doing pvp things or by buying them? Maybe I have that wrong.
Looking at the numbers of backers it looks like there will be at least 1/2 as many spectral lotus gardens in circulation as there are backers. It's kind of crazy how many people backed at really high dollar amounts.
I look at it this way. Kickstarter exclusives from season 1 of Zombicide that were 10 dollars are now hundreds of dollars on EBay. Hex has 4x the backers. Hopefully my investment of yearly exclusive cards for life pays for itself.

Word. If this game takes off the way I think it will, the KS stuff will be choice.
Which is why I ultimately decided to pull the trigger on the extra Collector. Lord help me and my bank account . . . no turning back now!

Every kickstarter since Zombiecide has had that cited.
I think this is like baseball cards. 50's and 60's baseball cards were rare and worth a shit ton (Zombicide) so people in the 80's collected the SHIT out of them, making them all worthless (Everything since, including Hex).
And yes, the Everquest card game earns you cards as you play PvE. Every mission rewards you with a card; you have to beat it with every class to get a playset.
Fuck, backed this yesterday, everything seemed to go through fine..today i get an email from amazon, telling me the transaction failed, after the kickstarter closed of course, so i can't go through and try it with a different code amazon won't choke on. fffffuuuuu amazon

It doesn't take payment until the end which is why you just got that email. You get like 4 days to sort out your payment info if there's an issue. Look in the Kickstarter FAQs.

It almost certainly will. You could probably sell just the account itself for north of $500 with free drafts for life, even if the cards wind up with no material value.

I would have really liked to buy the draft for life as that bargain is beyond insane.
It literally pays for itself in the first year, and every subsequent year after that it's like the Devs are paying you
