[Man of Steel] & Iron Man 3 & The Wolverine &...

CenoCeno pizza timeRegistered User regular
New thread superhero exploooooooosion!

Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe started with Iron Man 3 and continues with Thor: The Dark World in November. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is out next year, and Avengers 2: The Avengening is currently rumored to include Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. In non-MCU Marvel stuff, The Wolverine is out this summer, and Amazing Spider-Man 2 is currently shooting.

On the DC front, Man of Steel launches in June with a concerted push to create a similarly cohesive film universe. Rumors of a Justice League movie still get swatted back and forth, but nothing concrete has emerged.

All in all, it's a good time to like superheroes and the movies they're in. Lets talk about them.

The best thing about Iron Man 3 is
That Tony Stark beats the bad guy by throwing money at him until he explodes

    Well she is .

Yes because that would be the most ridiculous plot hole in an X-men movie.

Isn't that basically how he solves all his problems, though? By just throwing money at it?

Booster Gold should get a flashy big name show

with, like, loads of product placement

literally have Booster Gold pull out a can of Red Bull and say "well jeez fighting crime has me parched, lucky for me I have a can of refreshing, energizing red bull on me for emergencies..."

Chris O'Dowd on rumors his role in Thor 2 is Matt Murdock: "There's been a lot of talk of that. Maybe some contract talk..."

    Huh

Not someone I would immediately think of, but if he bulked up I can see it.

Murdock is of Irish descent too.

That's funny, Chris O'Dowd kind of reminds me of Chris Pratt, another guy I never expected to be a superhero.

I think Marvel Studios flicks lend themselves to comedic actors a lot, what with their typically fun and banter-heavy tones.

Plus, I bet it is fun for actors who can normally only play "schlubby bachelor" to suit up and be a big action star

Okay, having watched the video, I'm pretty sure he was joking.

Also, Aziz is totally right, he needs to be in a Marvel movie, and I can't think of any Indian superheroes, which is weird. I know of Chinese heroes, Japanese heroes, Russian heroes, and even a couple of Vietnamese heroes, but I can't think of any Indians. I guess there's Kavita Rao, but she's not a superhero, really.

Comedic actors make for great action stars.

actually, I could maybe see Christopher Lloyd doing the voice of Doom

has he ever done voice work?

Offhand, I know he did a little voice work in the Pagemaster, though he had a live action role there too.

Christopher Lloyd is a very accomplished comedic actor and has good vocal range.

He could probably pull off Doom, as long as they don't go the FF "becoming" phase.

I love Christopher Lloyd but, I mean

    He's 74

    Maybe someone younger? Better physique?

Unless you're just suggesting a David Prowse/James Earl Jones situation here
