David Brothers is now doing a regular podcast, over at Inkstuds.
His first guest is Jimmie Robinson, of Bomb Queen infamy, and the terribly under-appreciated Five Weapons. The next is Qiana Whitted, an Associate Professor of English and African American Studies, who discusses comics from an academic perspective, and even casts a positive light on Frederic Wertham.
Brothers has a real gift for interviewing, which has primarily been on display when he's moderated panels. They have a really casual tone, like a friendly conversation, but always manage to stay on topic.
I'm really just waiting for the inevitable interview with Brandon Graham, because that'll be aweeesome.

don't know if anyone even cares about us doing this, but this is the comic book podcast thread in the comic book subforum, so I'm just gonna keep updating until I'm told to stop.
Today's episode we talk about Marriage. We go a little bit into some power-couples, but we spend most of the time talking about DC's marriage ban, and a bit about OMD. Basically we go into how these type of decisions affect a creator's limitations and whether or not it makes sense on a creative level.
warrocket ajax spin off podcast kickstarter. actually the first kickstarter i've given money to, just because matt and chris keep me solidly entertained at work and i want them to carry on doing so.

It's pretty interesting and I believe it's hosted by 3 black guys, so if anyone was looking for some PoCs talking about comics, these guys should be your top pick. They're deep in the comic world and they even talk about movies and some history of comics and even current trends (like kickstarter)
I also know Kate Leth, who does some Adventure Time comics, is also doing her own podcast called "Less than Live" but I haven't heard it yet.

Less Than Live is pretty great, Kate's a funny & engaging podcasterer. Her first episode she interviews the artist she's working with on the Bravest Warriors comic, and episode 2 she interviews the artist and one of the writers of Lumberjanes. Not sure when the next episode goes up, but her guest is going to be Babs Tarr, the artist for the upcoming Batgirl relaunch.
Yowza this is still going! I got a little bored of the podcasts I was listening to. Wait What just sort of morphed into a whinge fest of Jeff rattling off crack pot theories about what the big two's evil PR people were brewing up next and Graeme waxing philosophically about how sexist everything is. Maybe I was just in a bad mood when I last listened but I found it kind of unbearable!
But now I'm back on the comic band wagon and listening to a bit of Silence! I do love how consistently down on themselves those two are they always crack me up!

Haven't stopped recording over here either, just stopped posting updates in the thread.
But with that said, this week's episode I had a lot of fun recording, so maybe you guys will like it:
Hey, I'm trying to get into "Earth's Mightiest History" but the first nine or so episodes aren't on iTunes and I don't see ways to download them off of their tumbler. I want to put these on my ipad (and it takes a millenium to scroll all the way through their tumbler to get to the early episodes) so any ideas?
It occurs to me, I've never really heard or read a long-form interview with Liefeld before, despite him being such a controversial giant in the industry.
He comes across as a guy with a huge amount of enthusiasm for comics, but more interestingly, a guy who's actually well educated, when it comes to the medium. He talks about being young and pulling from Shirow's Appleseed, to design Cable. There's some stuff about how he laid out an issue of X-Force for Mike Mignola, and received no credit. He does a bangin' Robert Kirkman impression, talks Marvel Comics: The Untold Story, and discusses how he nearly wrote and illustrated a new Alpha Flight title, before parleying that into having more control over New Mutants.
But, he also covers his place in the industry, in a way that I don't think is consistent with reality. Like, he talks at length about boring comics, and what audiences want or wanted, in a way that really explains why all his books had such a homogenous feel to them.
There's a bit where he outlines the difference between his aesthetic, and that of New Mutants writer Louise Simonson. Specifically, an issue where the New Mutants are shopping for jewelry, while Cable is fighting villains in a dirty back alley. It's meant to show why his vision was more important to the book's success, but I think really underscores why Liefeld needed a writer, that would make him draw something besides stuff exploding. Because when everything's exciting and bombastic, nothing is.
Also, there's a great bit where Brandon Graham talks about a Daredevil issue he read, and just from the way he describes the dialogue, you know it's a Bendis issue.
If you've got 2+ hours to kill, go give it a listen.
