I don't wanna work, I just wanna Browser Games all day
so I happen to be at a job that allows me to sit on the internet most of the day in between, you know, working
and Candy Box most recently saved me from a few days of mind-numbing tedium through its own brand of mind numbing tedium
but I need more
more
more
so, can you dudes recommend some browser games? preferably the sort of thing that isn't action-oriented or too flash-heavy, but definitely the sort of thing that'll occupy you for hours on end
alternatively, let's talk flash games
how about Nanaca Crash huh

just wait for your actions to come back, check up on the game every few hours
so basically i tipped them a coupla bucks every few weeks while i was working at a social games studio, if only to not feel awful about what i was doing for a living

I don't want to admit how much time I've spent playing this game over the years.
This is absolutely perfect when babby has decided to wake up at 5am and demand to be taken downstairs to play. Except for the fact that I had a strange urge to stay at the computer when 7am came round and it was time to lift weights.
My soldier went mad and ran off into the wood, the shrink died of extraterrestrial virus, my engineer killed himself, and I died of Hypothermia on day 14.
And there's always MMO sprite shooter RPG Realm of the Mad God.
I started playing this and before I knew it 2 hours had gone by
good game
The first Neptune's Pride sent my roommate and I to a dark, dark place for a couple of weeks.
Pacing and muttering. Setting alarms for the middle of the night to launch surprise attacks. Taking on the sallow, greasy sheen of intelligence analysts and jonesing heroin addicts.
That fuckin' game.
The second one changes it up plenty, though the feel of the game is still there. There's a lot more research types to use and speed tech has been replaced by buying gates at stars (two stars with gates have 3x travel speed between them).
Hmm, making it mighty tempting to punish myself again.

It's still in active development. The one change that's happened the most is dropping star gate prices a couple of times because people don't really use them.
In addition to hyperspace range, weapons, and scanning range, the new techs are terraforming (increasing the resources of all stars you own, thus lowering costs of Economy, Industry, and Science), banking (each rank gives $50 more per cycle), manufacturing (increases your industry output), and experimentation. Experimentation is currently my favorite. Each rank gives you 4 research points toward a random tech every hour (remember that each Science facility gives 1 point an hour, but they're expensive to build). So at rank 3 experimentation you're dropping 12 research points. It's random, but it's sorta better than investing money into science. At least until you need to work toward specific things.
SteamBirds
the former is an arcade-style dogfighting game with very nifty aerobatics
the latter is turn-based dogfighting tactics
both are excellent
there is a dedicated thread that was recently brought back, it's probably on page four or something now. The opening pages will have good info for starting players.
Adventure Quest maybe?
