My family tree is a little sketchy.
Chrom married Olivia. I married Lucina.
I tried to put our Morgan with their Inigo but at S Rank they became "Companions".
Does this mean I can't marry her off to someone else and she's stuck "hanging out" with her uncle?

My family trees were as thus
    Chrom/Olivia
    MyUnit(male)/Nowi
    Lon'qu/Cordelia
    Henry/Sumia
    Donnel/Sully
    Gregor/Maribelle
    Stahl/Cherche
    Frederick/Lissa
    Kellam/Miriel
    Gaius/Tharja
    Ricken/Panne

    Laurent/Kjelle
    Inigo/Morgan
    Brady/Severa
    Owain/Nah
    Gerome/Cynthia
    Yarne/Noire

My aim was mostly Counter/Galeforce on as many units as possible. Also giving kids access to as many classes as possible.

Oh wow. Every unit in Apotheosis has Lethality Immunity? Crazy.

My current plan for a Lonqu->Laurent was a high skill drain tank with Astra + Lethality + Vantage to tank many hits and use the fact that Lethality can proc on Astra hits to provide high dangerousness.

Might need to go back to the drawing board...

    Pretty much!

And the same skill gives counter immunity and cuts damage in half. Then most of the enemies have Aegis+ or Pavaise+ to further cut into your damage potential.

You want some berserkers on backup, all I can say.

  • Corp.ShephardCorp.Shephard Registered User regular
Dragonskin... I though that skill didn't cut damage in half but stopped them from taking more than half their health from a given attack?

    Nope. Cuts damage in half.

Noire and Gerome are paired up in my game. Gerome's gonna bring Lance Breaker, a Brave Axe, and a bad attitude. Noire will lead with the Double Bow.

Gonna mess the final boss of Apotheosis up

I had Morgan and Gerome as the A-team.

Gerome was reclassed to berserker for the speed boost, and had armsthrift so he didn't have to worry about his brave axe breaking.

Morgan lead with the legendary axe Helswath, the fist of the crusader Neir. Plucked from the corpse of the deadlord Tigris, a terrifying abomination of dark sorcery reanimating the body of one of the greatest warriors in history. In her hand, it was a thing eternal, an unbreakable weapon worthy of the heritage of a god. She was something other than human, of royal blood mixed with the divine, and trained beyond the limits of the flesh.

Anna died in one round. It was great.

Okay. Laurent, Gerome, and Cynthia are raised up to a respectable level. Whew. I think they're the last of the kids.

...I think the rest of the spots I'll probably fill in with staff users. Lots of Rescue, lots of Fortify, lots of Catharsis, etc.

    Makes sense.

Just on the slim chance you didn't know, if you finish the first few enemies fast enough, you get the option of a hard mode. Beating that doesn't get you Katarina, so if you want to get the best rallybot in the game, do the easy mode first.

    She's also got nice art.

  • WybornWyborn GET EQUIPPED Registered User regular
I think I'll try hard mode first.

I just made a test run - didn't bring my good-ass equipment or anything like that, and didn't fill out the entire roster. I think this'll probably go okay. I managed to get past the first wave of Hard with relative ease - ended up losing Morgan because she got hurt by Counter too much, but that'll be easy to avoid in the future.

Need more time to keep leveling, though

And I think I'm gonna bring Olivia as a Dancer just for the extra Fortify, or another turn for Noire, or whatever

Oddly, it is legal to even marry your biological cousin or even sibling in law here (probably in Japan as well), so one can't say they aren't being cautious.

Depends on your state in the US, I think. Second cousins (same great-grandparent) is where most states draw the line, I believe.

EDIT: Cursory research shows that it is determined by state and it's a roughly even split between allowing and disallowing marriage between first cousins.

So, what class is Morgan in? Odd that she's getting into melee range with counter users that often.

  • WybornWyborn GET EQUIPPED Registered User regular
She's a Grandmaster because I tend to default her to that and I'm in love with Celica's Gale - but she's also carrying around a Brave Sword

I just left her in range of the enemy, sort of as a test. I learned some stuff! Stuff like "Brady needs Celica's Gale and a Brave Axe" and "Maybe Sol would be better than Aether right now"

Lack of Brave weapons means Manakete has the second lowest damage output in the game after Taguel, whose stones aren't even ranged :P

The problem with brave weapons is that there are only melee range. Most of the time being able to counter attack from 1-2 range on the enemy phase plus means you will be getting a lot more damage in than someone who can attack twice as much on player phase. Then dragonstone+ bonuses mean that you will have a higher str. and def. than anyone else. As for skill they should have more than enough after pair-ups and limitbreaker if needed. Plus dragonstones are cheap compared to forging braves so you won't need armsthrift or have to spend forever grinding for money. Manaketes are the best purely defensive tanks in the game, and the best class in the game if you aren't doing any grinding.

Celica's Gale has Brave and 1-2 range, and the importance of Enemy Phase and counters is inversely proportional to how many Galeforce users/Rescue staves you're fielding. Manaketes actually tie defence with a General using Helswrath/Ragnell and their strength bonus is negated by Dragonstone+ only having 12 might, but their joint defences are superior.

In a no-grind run it doesn't matter what classes you use so long as you don't spread the exp too thin (I'd vote Tactician for Veteran). I auto-clear Golden Gaffe in 2 turns, but if you don't have DLC then forging equipment is unnecessary. Unforged Braves are cheaper than and will outdamage Dragonstones.

Like, I think Manaketes are rad. They're just relatively poor at killing things!

Rescue staves are great. Mostly for objectives (I'm looking at you Severa and your fetish with death fortresses), for when you've made a mistake and overextended a unit, and for when the enemy formation is so tough that you need to send out a few super strong units to assassinate troublesome enemies then beam those units back to defend against the rest of the enemies.

I use rescues a bunch. They also give great XP.

I had a crazy dream the other night about this game. The characters at least.

Can't really remember the beginning of it. All of the kids were travelling across a Super Mario World-eske map, hunting down and dueling their evil parents. Kjelle split off from the group at a waterfall and rode a log down a river to a giant, Yggdrasil sized tree-trunk. She scaled it and atop the windswept trunk spotted her mother and their lances clashed.

A this point in the dream I remember musing to myself in the dream, "Wait, why is Sully Evil? I don't understand." I was apparently on Ventrilo (I am am almost always on Ventrilo), and a friend said back, "Oh dude, she was always evil in the comic books". I remember being like so bewildered by that comment.

Kjelle stood victorious and picked her mom up from the dirt and the dream ended.

First vivid dream I've had in a while. New job stress I guess.

  • QuickSmasherEXEQuickSmasherEXE A mad genius, Where you cannot see meRegistered User regular
Wow... well, I once dreamed Lucina, Brady, Kjelle and Owain were in the real world trying to defeat the Green Goblin to rescue Chrom. It started at an amusement lark and there were hypodermic needles hidden in the waiting lines to get their blood (and mine, I was there for that part) so the Green Goblin could clone them. And near the end they went to a library for some reason, and Owain found a bible and became a priest.

    No, I don't get high.

You get nearly 100K a go-round with the gold grinding map, and you can just set it on auto and skip turns to make it go even faster.
