Bumping my contest for King's Bounty and armored princess. Here's Elvenshae's post which makes it sound totally freaking awesome:
To enter, just PM me with the last time you were gifted by someone on this forum, and the person who's gone the longest (I'm assuming a matter of days) will win! Contest ends at 11:00 am CDT tomorrow, and I still don't have any entries.
They're super-underappreciated games if you want enormous, sprawling HoMM-like single player experiences. Definitely worth people's time.
It seems like they may continue to be underappreciated if nobody enters this contest.

I am awful at System Shock 2, and it's all @Luchaire's fault for giving it to me. :P
I was confused - my bad. I was making Gunstringer = Gunpoint which I had been reading about.
In your defense, Gunpoint also looks amazing.
I think I'm going brain dead from work though - but I also just called Call of Juarez Gunslinger by the name of Gunstringer, the Kinect enabled puppet game.
Cards are interesting, because before boosters start dropping, theres only enough cards possible to exist for half the people who own the game to make the badge. So it seems likely that prices would go up. However some games are so plentiful that its still an endless series of cards.

And congrats Dyvim Tvar. Having the xbox version may be a blessing - I have about five hours in the game so far and most of it is going through the steam workshop trying to make it look as pretty as possible before I, you know, actually start playing.
A dude from Paradox just asked Twitter if they want to see Steam Cards in Crusader Kings 2, Magicka and War of the Roses. Like, you wouldn't even have to idle those.
If you open up any of those games and don't immediately lose yourself in them for hours, then you and I can't be friends.
Ok, Strike Suit Infinity is super dope. Also, apparently nobody on my friends list plays much or they all suck, because I beat all their scores on my first run.
She just did the just one more turn thing at me last night

Just befriend everyone who has it, but beware, this can cause a crisis of confidence. Like, serious crisis of confidence.
For example, I used to think I was pretty decent at Trials Evolution, I had better scores than all my friends on LIVE. However, I loaded it up again recently to find that @rikdaly has better times than me on all the tracks I have done. And I can't beat them. I'm doomed to being second place forever and ever.
Also, is Infinity the version that is sorta like one big survival mode? I really need to get onto that.

When did we find out we were getting a new Thief game next year? Trailer's pretty slick.
Yeah, we've heard about it for awhile. There's a thread for it and everything!
Initial reception was a little ... lukewarm? ... when they announced that Garret was going all 90s-Goth and they were talking up what a badass assassin he was, but then they started showing more trailers and the stealth parts started looking really good. There was a recent gameplay demo where the guy who was playing it live accidentally alerted a couple guards to his position, and they killed him. Many fears were thereby assuaged.

Yeah, Infinity is the leaderboard chaser, wave based one. Only like $7, too.

I do love me some Trials, I really hope there is a decent sale on it in the Summer Dale as I haven't really played it much due to not really using the 360, I played over 100 hours of trials 2!

I can respect people not being able to do CK2. If Civ V is high school, CK2 is university. Possibly a Master's degree. I think of some of the things that have become routine for me (oh hey, I need money for mercenaries - I'll just imprison and banish a mayor; knowing when to press de jure claims and when to Holy War; knowing how to structure a realm to keep it stable, etc) and that shit just ain't obvious.
Civics is not a consumer product that you can ignore because you don’t like the options presented.

CourtOfOwls sent in a well-crafted tale of holding to principles in real life, and besting, for the moment, the monster that is the prevailing thought of the crowd.
We'll see how well @CourtOfOwls ' principles stand up to the moral relativistic beasts in The Wicher! I'll be sending out the gift when I get home, since right now I'm currently at my parents' house, planning a trip to Letchworth State Park.

I have Amazon credit I'm trying to turn into Steam credit. Any suggestions?
It would take a bit of work - but there's a vendor on amazon who sells Gamestop gift cards in $25 or $50 denominations. You could have them ship you a Gamestop card, then take that to a store and buy Steam Wallet money...that's about the only thing I can think of.

Oh, I understand it is hella difficult to learn, I mean, once upon a time we all found that to be the case. What I'm saying is that once you learn how to do it, you're not likely to stop and notice the fact that suddenly, CARDS!. You're too busy losing your life. Getting the set you're entitled to will be an afterthought at most.
I was all proud of beating all these people in the Safe Driving score in Sleeping Dogs. Got up to like, 2:47.
Then I saw who was in number 1. With over SIX MINUTES. Damnit Rerez !
Can't link to kickstarter (I think), but Shadowrun Returns just got a release date of 25 July.
Oh man. The wait was already getting tough for me when I decided to spread the pain around a bit. But I didn't intend for the torture to last that long.
Because of the cards I spent some time trying to get into the game but failed miserably. I had some awful problems related to resolution and sharpness, which seemed to be a common complaint on the steam forum. At the end I moved it into my DELME category after all the cards had been dropped. This category is very small and coincidentally (looking at the new indie bundle) is joined by Runespell.

Failure in CK2 is probably just as amusing as success. Scrabbling around trying to figure out how to keep your squabbling, back stabbing, psychotic in-bred dynasty together is entertaining as hell. At least I think so.
The biggest issue I think most people have with the game is information overload. The big thing to learn, in my opinion, is how to ignore 99% of what the game is showing you and concentrate on that tiny bit that's actually relevant to your situation. The interface is mainly a bunch of view filters, ledgers and different ways to collect and cross reference data. Immensely useful stuff when you need it, but you usually don't need to know what religion that nation on the other side of Europe is or how they feel about how you are running Scotland. Learn to manage your council, the basics of succession, diplomatic, military and intrigue options and you have a solid grounding to explore the more advanced mechanics of the game.
