I predict that we'll either have a price for both the Four and the One, or for neither of them.

Before I come across as being snarky captain obvious, I have a strong suspicion that Sony and Microsoft are seeing who will blink on price so they can offer a rebuttal. If one console announces their price, even if it's after the other console's show, I expect the other console's developer to issue a response in short measure. It all depends whether their eyes get itchy during E3, or whether they'll wait until closer to release to give us the news. In any case I don't see a long period of time where we know one price but not the other.

Did you see the footage from the Xbone event? I wouldn't hold my breath for shiny new graphics from COD:G either.

I should of put shiney graphics in quotes. They'll say their awesome but they will be average. But I really play the series for the gameplay. The graphics of the last game were fine, and I would rather have more focus put on enviromental interactivity.

Oh I guess I would like to see Metroid news from Nintendo. Prime one and two were my favourite GC games and the third was the only game besides wii sports owned for that system.

I hope to hear there is an I/O button on the Kinect 2, or that they will sell original camera and mic covers.

    I do not expect it.

I expect they will show a lot of Call of Duty Modern Warfare Ghosts.

I predict it will look as terrible and identical to the previous 4 Modern Warfare games but in higher resolution.

Microsoft: Being a military member, there's not a single thing they could do to sell me unless they completly backtrack their drm. If I can't play your console on deployments you are dead to me.

Nintendo: Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, and "X" gameplay. A bomb with a new Zelda WiiU reveal (I hope).

Sony: Giving Indys some time. At least one new reveal for PS4 and Vita each.

I will be so dang happy if that game comes out this year.

Question than, What if either MS or Sony sell a "light" game only version? I don't see how this works as they are DRM'n the thing to hell it sounds like. Or are portable gaming systems ie Vita supposed to be the option for a case like this? Trips in the RV, Hotels, etc?

    Realistic Expectations:

    - Price and launch dates for both the Xbox One and the PS4. Expect multiple SKUs all round and mid-November release dates.

    - A new Halo game for the Xbox One. Not a Halo 5, but a Halo: Subtitle, with some form of forced Kinect integration. Let's take a guess at, I don't know, Halo : Spartan Vengeance or Halo : Spartan Front or something like that. Because it's not MasterChief, just some other dudes.

    - A new Star Wars title from EA. No gameplay or concrete information. But it forms the cornerstone of a big-three conference. Lightsaber sounds, the John Williams score. Then some celebrity on stage announcing 'Star Wars : Subtitle', coming fall 2014. Let's say... Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. And the conference is... the Microsoft one.

    - Harmonix has been doing something with Kinect that isn't Dance Central. And this time it's something tangible. A vaguely related pop-star is on stage to perform their latest single, like Usher did last time. Except this time they're actually playing the game at the same time and it's not all shit. Let's say the pop-star is Kanye, and it's something off of Yeezus.

    - Battlefield 4 cold opens the Microsoft conference. Black auditorium, crackling radio message. Oscar mike. Lock and load marines. Gunfire. More gunfire. Explosions. Look at the graphics. Coming soon to Xbox One, with exclusive Back to Wake Island/Karkand/That-other-map-you-like-that's-better-than-anything-in-this-game content pack.

    Outlandish Expectations:

    - Something concrete on Beyond Good and Evil 2. Gameplay demo from Ubisoft. Not a next-gen title, but episodic and downloadable only. Episode One out this fall, Episodes 2 and onwards never to be seen ever.

    - A new game announced by a company but not at E3. Let's say the company is... Valve. And the game is... Left 4 Dead 3. Press release on Steam, pre-order now to get some TF2 hats and gizmos. Not seen or heard of on the show floor. Completely on the internet.

    - New revision to the DS. Called something like the 4DS. Improved screens and button layout. Also has persistent online connection for an enhancement of their current roaming capabilities. Shares content to the web. Takes photos. Is expensive and is only out in Japan this year.

    - The following individuals appear at the Playstation 4 conference, on stage and either demoing their new game or talking about what they like about the console: Ken Levine. Jonathan Blow. Tim Schafer. Todd Howard. Maybe even Jenova Chen at a stretch. All of them look awkward and read from a prepared script. Awkwardly.

    - Despite claiming their conference is 'all about the games', Microsoft spends upwards of ten or fifteen minutes talking about TV again.

    Gabe Newell Level Expectations:

    - Playstation 4 launches for less than $299. Xbox One launches for less than $299.

    - Microsoft announce an Xbox handheld to compete with the Vita and the 3DS. Blah blah blah it's just another Zune.

    - Super Smash Brothers : Subtitle

    - A new Sonic the Hedgehog game. 16-bit graphics, no homing attack, momentum based gameplay. No stupid sidekicks. Good music. Spiritual successor to Sonic 3 + Knuckles. Forget everything else ever happened, the king has returned!

    - Anything with the word 'Metal Gear' in the title that is exclusive to the Xbox One. Betrayalton. Worldwide internet meltdowns. GAF on suicide watch.

Toxx Level Expectations. Seriously, if this happens, permanently ban me from these forums forever:

    - Half-Life 3.

Microsoft - Will invariably try to please as many people as possible in between long deserts of execrable marketing speak from boring dudes and cinematic, misleading trailers for things we've already played and knew would appear again. Sports aplenty. More non-gaming stuff.

Price: 449 or 379 with two years of Live Gold.

    The better parts:
RYSE will scream "focus group" but will make some see the Kinect 2 as something with real potential and fun-enhancing effects.
Rare will make people happydisappointed - Banjo-Kazooie with extra Kinect and a pretty clear deviation from what made the first two games charming and engrossing. Some will still cling to hope.
    Fuckinghalo. Three Fuckinghalo games.
More Fable. You best believe there will be more Fable.
Dead Rising 3, now with more nature parts and open-world elements to mix up the urban setting. Bitchtons of zombies. Three bitchtons at least.
    Forza Motorsport 5: Carporn harder.
Quantum Break will be: "Yeah it's more shooty cinematic action fun gruntman pow pow, but it's quirky Finns doing it and look at this crazy time shit!"
    Fantabulous-looking Destiny gameplay trailer
Mirrors Edge 2 is exclusive. People will hateweep.

Nintendo - Has fewer surprises than hoped for, and will fill its ND with poor English and wanking about Iwata's and Miyamoto's hang-ups and game mechanics/gimmicks they are most obsessed with. The constant nervous glancing at the clock will harm the experience. Still no account system, because the internet is weird and filthy and making an effort sucks. Many porting and localization announcements won't happen. Wii Fit U and more of that caliber.

    The better parts:

    PIKMIN
    MARIO
    NEW SUPER LUIGI
    WARIO
    YOSHI
    MARIO KART
    TW 101
    SEGA
    TWO ZELDERS
    X
    U WANT BAYO WITH THAT?
    SMT vs FE
    SMASH
    RETRO STUDIOS

ENOUGH 3DS GAMES TO CHOKE AN ELEPHANT

Sony - is going to try its best to get important exclusives, focus on America and Europe, try to show a varied library and avoid mistakes or droning marketing talk, as it faces Microsoft's intense money-hatting and marketing avalanche this Thanksgiving. Will lose some exclusivity. Will have some boring or predictable trailers on stuff we've already seen. Some atrociously boring speakers. Will have some lame camera stuff or Sharing/Web/social media babble no one cares about. Will floor people with a few announcements - Far Cry 4 with timed exclusivity, Witcher 3 only on PC and PS4 or something of equal magnitude.

Price: Announced less than a month after E3, but will say the most expensive SKU will be "priced competitively" or somesuch.

    Better parts:
Square Enix will actually do a good job of presenting what it has. With effing gameplay this time.
    Gran Turismo 6
    Gotham Racing
Will probably get the Dragon Age III reveal to show it has WRPGs as well
The Last Guardian (I actually think it will happen)
Will get the first gameplay trailer for The Evil Within. It will look really scary and freaky.
Will get the Dishonored DLC trailer
    Thief
    Witcher 3 looks incrediblazing.
Will nab a dedicated GTA V trailer.
Whore of the Orient looks aces.
Lots of Japanese titles, Persona 5 maybe
Tekken 7, makes DOA 5 look like Tekken 4
    Sleeping Dogs maybe
    God of War. Duh.
    Just Cause!

I'm gonna break this into What I Want To See and What I Think I Will See.

    Think:
    - SquareEnix showing off a little bit of FF13-3. And maybe even showing off the Agni's Philosophy trailer again so they can talk about their next gen engine
    - Metal Gear Solid trailer(s)
    - A new Halo (kinda a no-brainer)
    - More Watch_Dogs, Assassin's Creed 4, etc. (the stuff we already know about which will likely show up in video montages at some or all of the presentations)
    - Game footage of The Evil Within and Witcher 3

    Want:
    - Persona Fucking 5. And the console it's announced for will immediately get my money
    - Something tangible for FF13 Versus or whatever it's called now
    - Something tangible for the new Monolith Soft title for WiiU

Edit: And I know I'm low-balling my expectations but I like being surprised by E3.

Insider rumors suggest they won't present it during Sony or MS' conference, though. Even if they were delusional enough to try that, Sony and MS would probably decline that in favor of actual showstoppers (including their "new FF" announcement, which they literally stopped Sony's PS4 show to tease about).

Here's a wildcard Wii U announcement that would make me giddy:

While I'm sure I'll be proven wrong, I think this will be Sony's year to get things right. I think that even if they had a DRM plan, they will have scrapped it by E3 and their focus will be some form of "Gaming Unlimited" where you aren't limited by not having an internet connection, not limited in used games, not limited in location (the Vita remote play thing) and not limited in publishing - with a strong batch of indie games. I do think Last Guardian will finally make a true appearance with a holiday release this year as well. I also think for current PS3/Vita owners we'll see something else added to Plus, I'm thinking a back catalog of PS1 games or something similar.

I still think the next gen is going to be a very hard sell, and the Wii U wasn't a fluke, getting folks to upgrade is going to be rough and slow. I think right now it feels like the tide is shifting towards Sony and E3 is going to reflect that...I think they're going to be blunt and direct and address those issues folks have had with MS and use it to their advantage.

Well there was that Portal 2 thing during Sony's conference.

If they made a similar arrangement for HL3, where buying the game for PS4 (exclusive to that console) also redeems it for free on Steam...

Well shit, the internet would explode and MS would make scardey farts.

A list of rumors taken from GAF's more reputable sources:
All of the following rumours I've been able to source to a credible neoGAF post or two, a wink and a nudge here, so here's the rub. The list is HIGHLY incomplete, so I need you guys to help fill it out. Will update post with any credible rumours.

    Xbox One

    ● Hawken console exclusive
    ● League of Legends console exclusive
    ● Mirror's Edge 2 (various retailer leaks now seem to back this up) console exclusive (said to be coming to PC too)
    ● Halo 4: II with cross platform play with 360 version
    ● Respawn Studio's game, "Titan", exclusive
    ● Insomniac new IP exclusive
    ● Dead Rising III exclusive
    ● Killer Instinct

    PS4

    ● Final Fantasy Versus XIII changes into Final Fantasy XV, exclusive
    ● Planetside II console exclusive
    ● PS+ = Early access to Sony Pictures films, free PS1/PS2 games over Gakai
    ● Kingdom Hearts 2.5 for PS4? Due in 2014
    ● Demon Soul's 2 in development (not sure if this or KH will be at E3, but just in case)
    ● Last Guardian moved to PS4

One source for some of this info

    Wii U

    ● Star Tropics by Retro Studios
    ● Mario Kart Wii U (literally a souped up Mario Kart 7)
    ● Zelda U MAY have some concept art, but game is too far away for much to be shown at the moment
    ● Super Mario U (biggest Mario yet, the guy gave the title 'Super Mario Retroverse U', to tell us a name for the game they were considering to give us an idea where they're going with it, but that WON'T be the final name. You may see Wart)

That Mario concept sounds pretty awesome, especially if it ends up as a canonical sequel to Super Mario 2.

    Crimson Skies
    F-Zero
    Mega Man
    PaRappa the Rapper
    Perfect Dark
    Project Gotham Racing
Ridge Racer (Which would be the first time a console generation hasn't launched with a Ridge Racer since the 5th generation)
Sega Racing Game (OutRun, Sega Rally, Daytona, Crazy Taxi. I would take any of them.)
    Star Fox
    Syphon Filter
    Wave Race
    Zone of the Enders

Feel free to prove me wrong at any time, gaming industry!

Other than that, I feel surprisingly apathetic about next week. Now that Microsoft and Sony have tipped their new console cards, it feels like the most exciting part of this year's show has already happened. I can only hope that Microsoft brings the thunder and delivers enough exclusive games to keep the Xbox relevant to me. All Sony has to do is maybe reveal a few more titles (Uncharted 4?) and avoid letting the other shoe drop by talking too much about multimedia BS or restrictive DRM and they'll coast through with a respectable show. Nintendo's show will have the best content-to-filler ratio, but I expect it to have the least surprises.

Oh, and a price drop on the Wii U and PSVita would be very appreciated too, although I expect both to just stick with bundles and "increased value."

I dunno about Titan, but Mirror's Edge was an interesting (but flawed) game and Dead Rising is one of my favourite ever franchises. If they do Killer Instinct III I will be really pleased as well.

But unfortunately, Sony are equally putting in some great stuff and they don't have some of the disadvantages that the Xbone is proving to have.

I'm excited for new handheld titles, and the expansion of the WiiU library. Here's my E3 predictions:

The 3DS is currently my go-to system for this gen. Handhelds are becoming the go-to place for games that have exciting ideas, but wouldn't be profitable with the higher dev costs of a console. Nintendo really doesn't need to say much about their handheld, to be honest. The system is in a good spot, it's got high-profile software coming down the pipes, and they can use Nintendo Direct to make waves after E3 is said an done while Sony and Microsoft recover after blowing their loads. Having said all that, I expect at least a minor nod to Super Smash Bros 3DS and inter-connectivity with it's big brother on the WiiU.

The Vita is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from being a real contender. I don't think that Sony's conference will be the Vita's coming out party, what with their focus on the PS4 and all, but I'd like to see at least a Vita hype reel sometime during the show. And if you don't see anything Vita at E3 or during the convention timeframe... I predict the system will continue to struggle.

The WiiU will finally get the software lineup fans have been waiting for. A price drop is unlikely, but if Nintendo manages to get their new 3D Mario out for the holiday season then I'd expect to see a bundle.

The PS4 will be the focus of Sony's conference (duh). But I'd go so far as to predict that games will play a smaller role than many expect. Sony will split their time 60/40, discussing the multimedia features that set the system apart from the Xbox One first, and then showing off gameplay of the titles hinted at in the PS4's reveal. Expect a healthy chunk of time to be spent on a inFamous gameplay demo.

The Xbox One event will be the one to watch. not because I think it will blow people away, but because I think the people behind the event will be looking to divert course away from the system's reveal. Not everyone thinks that the XBO's coming out party was a shipwreck, I get that, but public reaction has not been overwhelmingly positive (understatement). Microsoft's presentation at E3 will have a greater focus on games, but they'll also be showing off Glass and doing a bit of a on-stage (scripted) Q&A to clear up some of the system's more confusing aspects. Game-wise, I expect an exclusive new IP developed by the now Epic-owned People Can Fly.

I'll be at work during the bulk off E3, but I'm excited for what may come. I hope stream archives will be relatively easy to find.

    Xbox One

    Hawken console exclusive
    ● League of Legends console exclusive
    ● Mirror's Edge 2 (various retailer leaks now seem to back this up) console exclusive (said to be coming to PC too)
    ● Halo 4: II with cross platform play with 360 version
    ● Respawn Studio's game, "Titan", exclusive
    ● Insomniac new IP exclusive
    ● Dead Rising III exclusive
    Killer Instinct

    Last Guardian moved to PS4

Hawken on consoles could make a bunch of sense. I can see people using it as a "filler game" between their COD and Halo fix but it's a fantastic game capable of standing on its own merits.

I remember a story about the early acquisition days at Rare and how they had pitched an idea for Killer Instinct 3 but was summarily shot down due to Microsoft forcing them to make nothing but family, and later, Kinect games. Of course this was before the great resurgence of the fighting mans genre. Maybe they've reconsidered in that time.

I wouldn't expect to see The Last Guardian without some drama surfacing or some revelation like about how the team was replaced wholesale or something, but it could be plausible
