Turning Point being available on all large maps is HUGE
I was gonna say, I bet in a year when you can get the game and all the DLC for less than sixty bucks, this game will be great
But then I realized no one will be playing it by then and there's no bot matches, soooo I guess not
The inclusion of "private matches" indicates that maybe there will be bots as early as tomorrow? I could be wrong though.
Still no mention of new heroes. I wonder if one will come out with each expansion or if they'll be released together at some other point.
For Empire era, who else would they even add? I could see Ben for Death Star, and Lando for Bespin, but are they just gonna throw in a few more bounty hunters on the Empire side?
That's actually a pretty great list of changes, at least for me. All the of the set-ups that I thought were obnoxious got hit in some way or another, and the things I tend to like turned out fine. Explosive shot on EE-3/SE-14C, Homing Shot, Bowcasters, etc have all been some of the worst parts of the game lately, for me. I do well with (and prefer to play with) more traditional set ups, like an E-11 with a Thermal and a Smoke Grenade or an Ion Rocket/Grenade. When I do get wrecked, it's often a one hit kill when I turn a corner and run in to one of the things that just got nerfed. It seems a lot of Star Cards in general just got bigger delays, which is fine by me: the less spammy the better.
Other small things, like the bug on Jakku or more randomized hero pickups in Fighter Squadron, are also appreciated.
+1

Some kind of officer for the Death Star (Tarkin maybe) with powers similar to Leia.
There's a severe dearth of characters (as in "people with any sort of name and who do anything besides appear for more than five seconds in a drab uniform while frowning") for the Empire in the original films.
I mean, I think Peter Cushing is great, but let's face it--you're not going to have him running around with a blaster pistol shooting dudes while someone does a really bad Peter Cushing impression ("This bickering is pointless!"). What is his ability, especially inside the Death Star? Just a constantly respawning entourage of stormtroopers that follows him around wherever he goes? Portable Darth Vader? The Emperor at least got lightning (not to mention a lightsaber in the prequels).
Besides the bounty hunters (who all had a grand total of one appearance), that leaves--I guess some of the stormtrooper officers who briefed Vader in ANH? Maybe make them extremely tough stormtroopers in hero mode?
An Imperial Guard? We never see any of them fight, but they have those staffs, I guess.
Shit, I have no idea. I would just throw in some bad-ass stormtrooper commandos, but all that EU stuff got dumped out with the bathwater.
I don't disagree at all with the value of immersion, but that honestly seems more immersion breaking to me. It's sort of like, "Why don't we see the medical droid? It's in the films, it helps save Luke." Yes, it helped save Luke surrounded by equipment in a military hospital--in actual combat though?
Actually, the medical droid is in the game. It's in the medical room on the Hoth level.

As I remember, at least in the beta, it's nothing but a set piece--it doesn't help recovery/whatever, much less move as a unit. It's as much in combat as the box at the end of the hall.
DICE employees have begun tweeting their relief at announced info. One confirmed space fights, which I assume will be in the Death Star pack. Another assumed that an A-wing fix was in this patch so it sounds like something they are aware of and working on.

General Veers in his AT-AT garb would work IMO.
Black lives matter.

True, honestly, that's a lot better than the other alternatives.
At a certain point, you might as well take the other named officers--like the stormtrooper commander who warns Vader, "Holding her is dangerous! She'll die before she tells you anything!"--and just have them run around like maniacs in their black uniforms, Princess Leia style.

Honestly, with that, I can't think of much else I'd like for them to address in the patch that they haven't. Hopefully the player count stays high enough for it to matter?
They need to just add a reverse version of Walker Assault.
Have some big, slow-moving Rebel vehicle (like the big transport or something else, for christ sake, military forces have more than one ground vehicle in their entire inventory), that moves very slowly through a cavern, and the Imperial team needs to signal TIE Bombers to blow the crap out of it with bombs to bring down its shields, and then everyone else shoots at it.
Bam. New game mode. Call it "Cargo Escort" or some shit. You're welcome, DICE.

I think the removal of the EU vehicles really cut down what they could use.
Still, it's not like they couldn't due a Juggernaut for the rebels, or even a stolen AT AT.
Light side possibilities:
Chewie
Lando
Obi-Wan
Wicket
Dark Side:
Tarkin (could use stuff like orbital strike if they went that route)
IG-88
Bossk
Pizza the Hut
I want Obi-Wan. He could play more tanky and slow, but have like, samurai moves. And of course, his death animation would be the robes falling to the ground.

Probably because they want it to be canon. They made a big deal pre release that it was a canon game for the most part, outside of, say, characters showing up at odd times like Boba Fett on Endor.
A good comparison is the FFG Imperial Assault boardgame, where they're happy to add HK droids, Imperial Repulsor tanks and other stuff (although they tend to rename them) and class the game as a Legends setting.
DICE probably should have said fuck it, lets make it a Legends game, and throw some cool shit in there, because the only land vehicles being speeder bikes, AT-AT's and AT-ST's gets a touch boring after a while.

Yeah is canon but dead characters show up, they fly X wings during the battle of Hoth and TiEs have Proton Torpedoes.
For what it's worth, this one is basically accurate. They had X-wings at the battle of Hoth, they're shown in the hangars and people get in them. Some of them are shown in a shot escorting out a transport.

It's even worse if they try and adapt it for The Force Awakens, where the two opposing forces literally have only one make of fighter craft each, and only one major warship appears on screen for any length of time. At least A New Hope had an ISD-I, a corvette, X-Wings, Y-Wings, TIE Fighters, and Vader's own fighter by itself.
Assuming they don't wait for Episode 8 (which might not add further ship designs anyway).
In Battlefield it's generally okay if Russia, China, and America each only have one jet fighter, because fuck, least they each have a ground-attack aircraft, an attack helicopter, a transport helicopter, a MBT, a IFV, scout vehicles, etc. None of that shit exists in Star Wars outside of the old EU, since it wouldn't make a huge amount of sense to take it from the PT (even though in real life, we use 20 year old military equipment all the time).
>Huge list of nerfs
>Rebel starfighters apparently untouched
Explosive Shot and the Bowcaster look like they got nerfed so hard I wonder if they'll even be considered usable anymore or not.
Explosive Shot being nerfed is kinda meh. It wasn't used in the top end game bullshit builds and actually gave earlier builds a viable chance at fighting back. Bowcaster needs a nerf.
When it comes to "rebel star fighters" you mean the A-wing right because the X-wing is not really a problem. I'd also argue that, at least in Fighter Squadron, nerfing the fighter pickups hits the A-wing harder than any other fighter. It's the only one fast enough with shields to run loops through them in an almost constant state of shielding/health healing if it has to. It's hit box and damage still needs a nerf, and frankly those are bigger problems than pickup running but it's still something.

Expect for the first one which adds 2 on planets we already have?
Kinda underwhelmed to be honest.
Season pass says 16 maps total across the 4 dlc packs.
I imagine there'll be bigger and smaller maps on the bespin and Death Star locations.
I do question how there'll be a walker assault on the Death Star.
