Opening up other levels for other things?

EDIT- also cool downs don't mean anything for the bocaster, the point is it auto cools down with the right build, see here

Didn't it also get a 70% damage nerf?'
Fully charged (5 shots) Bowcaster damage per projectile decreased from 50 to 15, otherwise (1 or 3 shot) bowcaster damage per projectile decreased from 50 to 10

I thought that was for explosive damage, not direct hit?

EDIT- not saying that won't help, but the problem with bowcaster + jump pack has never been the recharge time or splash damage in the extreme. The problem has always been the instant recharging, direct hit, easy DL-44 headshot, shield your way out of the conflict if you fail. Ditto that the problem with homing shot was never the short lock on and fast speed. It was always sniper + homing + t21-b + refreshing the moment you got a head shot to spam the crap out of homing and snipers with no regards to anything. Done CORRECTLY you either end up with infinite auto refreshing bowcaster jet packs and a shield to get you out if you fuck up, or infinite sniper and homing at range and an auto cooling main gun if you messed up. Laying the blame at the bow caster or homing shot as the major problem is kinda daft, on their own neither is all that good. It's nerfing what people got killed by, and not how they were killed by it how it got spammed.

I'm all for nerfing these weapons, but unless the specific combinations are dealt with it's failing to see the forest for the trees. Just as nerfing the hero fighter squadron options needed to happen, so did increasing the spawn time on the power ups, but then leaving the a-wing alone is kinda head scratching. Also nerfing scan pulse is fine, but that's not going to do much about jawa + scan + flashbang + scout as a combination

The Boba Feet nerfs seem on point though... and speaks a lot as to how if you didn't take him as Empire you were a grade A moron.

    BAH

Got the most kills in Blast for the first time ever and no trophy pop. Guess that's still bugged.

Gotta say, after having tested out these new changes, I love it. Still hanging out for the a-wing nerf, but they've already confirmed it's done. They're just waiting for the next patch to be released.

Game plays nearly like it did in the beta. I have missed that. Also the A280 is an all around good gun, a good replacement for the DL-44 for me.

Finally, scatterguns and smoke grenades. I recommend this combo.

    Fantastic

Got to play last night for the first time since the update. Was on a really strong team in several games of Drop Zone.

The Homing shot is so slow now that it's not really worth it. Maybe that will make the homing shot spam lessen.

Supremacy used to be a game of attempting to dodge homing shots.

The change is great. Few people use it now, and if you get caught by it, it's because you were hanging out, standing still, in the open for a decent amount of time. Feels much more fair.

I think I just need to win a game of hero hunt to get that trophy, but that seems damn near impossible unless you spawn as the hero.

Hero Hunt will always be the bane of my existence as it will stand between me and that dumb trophy. I'm just not good enough to consistently take out the hero before others do.

I played last night, after a month of not doing so. And Fighter Squadron is just so well done in the visuals department. The sad part was that the games were basically empty, however this made the matches last much longer and feel much more close. I really enjoyed my games, despite there being only 75% of players available.

part of this may be how they're doing matchmaking now too. Instead of filling each game to the brim and then starting a new server instance, they're filling up to about 80% and then starting a new instance. the games I've played have fluctuated between 80% and completely full (probably friends and such joining in), but join times have been a lot better as well. This is on PC.

Yeah after this update there has still been a lot of bullshit spawn killings and still got problem areas on maps, but now everything seems to work much better and much more balanced. I would say that now its the Pulse canon and the Cycler Rifle that are becoming overused, but thats only for maps like Jakku where Long range is king. Theres also now so much more variety with base weapons players are using and star card combinations keep changing. Even seeing more than 2 Heroes on maps, its like a breath of fresh air.

Just wish the new maps would come sooner.

Pretty much a full round of Walker Assault as Rebels. Going 43-6. Highest Objective Score. A bit of everything. Infantry, Hero, Snowspeeder. Still a bit rusty, but it was enough for an enjoyable round. Not the most competitive room, it seemed. I was in one of those when I first played a round of Walker Assault, and got mercilessly creamed by players just as good or better than me, with much more up to date Battlefront experience. Not that I would post such a thing. I still shudder with shame.

Anyways. That Playstation Share button. It grows on me.

Considering I see you have a Rodian head I was wondering how well the game is for someone who is only about 1/3 the way into the "leveling"? I haven't played the game (PS4) in about oh a month now and was considering playing again.

I don't know really. I didn't play it for two months, because I was on vacation. I'm fairly good at this type of games, yet I got stomped pretty darn badly the first time I played Walker Assault during prime time. The first thing I played though was a full rotation of Drop Pod, which takes almost 1,5 hours to complete these days, and I did extremely well right out of the gate, and consistently so.

I'd say the small team modes are pick-up and play, and anyone decent at shooters can and will have a good time. The large team modes however? If you are on a much weaker team, and you are objective minded, you likely will get the living bejeezus hammered out of you. No lube. Right up the a-hole. My tip, if you lose twice in a row, or if it's been abundantly clear that your team is useless after one match, quit the server and search for something more balanced. Being on the stronger side of an unbalanced match-up ain't half bad either.

For the most parts, I myself prefer using basic weapons and star cards and traits, like the assault rifle-alikes, the ion-torpedo or termal detonator or pulse cannon, and the jumppack and scout trait. From my experience, after a couple of hours of play, depending on SPM, players should have unlocked a variety of competitive loadsouts, and can do as well as they're able to. The recent balance patch has done wonders in regards to bringing late game unlocks like the bowcaster and bounty hunter trait in line with the rest of the game's balance.

Personally, I'll be playing more Hardline and BF4 until the next Battlefront patch hits, which will add new large team mode maps, as well as enable Turning Point on all available large team maps - that's when I'll turn my entire multiplayer focus back on Battlefront. So should everyone with an interest in Battlefront. It's going to be glorious!

I'm currently level 41, playing pretty much every night with an emphasis on the big team modes, but I also quite enjoy cargo, blast, and drop zone. Heroes vs Villains is good for scratching the itch of not getting to play a super character every now and then, and fighter squadron is fun but I mostly use it to complete challenges.

Scout trait, cycler rifle, scan pulse, and barrage is my primary loadout.

Really looking forward to turning point being available on all big maps (and the new big maps). The chaos of those large team battles is quite appealing.

With The Division coming out, and Battlefront not getting anything significant since launch, I'm definitely regretting having bought this with the season pass.

I think deep in your heart, you know exactly that when the trailers for the season pass expansions hit, especially for the Bespin and Death Star themed DLC packs, you'll change your tune - I'm certain of it. DICE's gameplay trailers have a way of being way too epic to be ignored, and the hype will be real. From my experience, DICE's season pass content is usually excellent, and breathes new life into their games everytime.

Sadly, I've missed the Division Beta. Is it really that good?

    There's a new beta on the 19th!

I was very dismissive about The Division, but playing the beta really changed my mind, I liked it a lot.

My main problem with Battlefront is that I'm on PC, and just as I predicted, matchmaking is killing the game slowly. I really hope the content is really good, because I do like the game, but only a few maps for more than 2 months got stale pretty quick. I bought the season pass because both BF3 and BF4 had excellent updates, so I'm still hoping it's like this for Battlefront.

I'm theoretically very interested in the idea of a loot-based shooter, but none of the ones that have come out so far have appealed to me. Maybe I'm just dumb for licenses or something. If they reskinned The Division with something like Star Wars or WH40K, I'd be much more interested.

Mod on the official forums has talked a teensy bit about what to expect in the February update, namely "changes coming to the A-wing, update around playing the objective, and a deep dive into weapon balancing".

They are also investigating ways to not split the community when the DLC maps hit.

I hate to complain, but I just went against the same team twice in Fighter Squadron and scored 200/40 as Rebs, 197/200 as Imps. The balance is really poor, and I hope the upcoming A-Wing changes aren't considered a 100% fix. The Shield ability in general is way out of whack and gives Rebels an insane edge. Buffing the speed boost to drop target lock might be an okay compromise; guess we'll see what the February patch holds.

New large Hoth map, Turning Point available on all large maps, Endor Leia, weapon balance, and something that should help emphasize playing the objective are some of the things.

I imagine patch notes will be forthcoming.

The conclusion I've basically come to is that this game is fun, in certain modes, for a match or two. Start it up, play a couple rounds of Drop Zone or Cargo, then I'm done. It doesn't hold my interest longer than that. I can't get lost in it for a whole afternoon like some games.

And a lot of the game modes, even the ones that are populated, simply aren't fun. The controls/balance in Fighter Squadron are a joke, and I know Walker Assault is supposed to basically be the big deal showcase mode but to me it's like repeatedly running face-first into a wood chipper. Supremacy isn't much better, same problem with just way too much stalemate while you're forced to run at fixed objectives and get repeatedly gunned down.

not sure how far in you are but you are absolutely correct about walker assault, at least early on. i found once i got the ee-33 (i think that's the name? the boba fett rifle) everything came together. similarly when playing whatever the capture the flag mode is called with anything other than one of the pistols is a disaster.

crossing my fingers that there is an a-wing change in this patch.
