Disagree. Black Mage is stronger than Blue and about equal to Time Mage, and way better than both in early world one.
Rod boosted -a spells will get you through the entire world without breaking a single one.
There were a lot of bosses near the end of the world that I couldn't before they killed me (with my only healing being potions) without breaking rods. See above picture.
Black Mage is one of the best healing classes in the game though behind White and Blue Mage.
Once you have 200000 gil to buy flame rings for everyone, sure.
I did not, and wasn't going to grind all that up in world one. Instead, break rods.
Depending on general reaction to FFXIII-3, I might skip it. I don't usually skip FF games, and I enjoyed the ending to FFXIII-2 so much that it forgave the complete retcon of the ending of FFXIII-1, but I don't like it when I feel like they're just making it up as they go, and are reusing assets to the point where they're like "Well we have this super detailed model of Serah, it would be a shame if it went to waste... oh look she has an evil twin!"
I have a theory...
Yuel reincarnated perpetually; this was hand-in-hand with her ability to see the future. For the majority of the game we're led to believe that she's innocent, basically little more than a plot device and motivator for Caius.
However, one of the extended endings... I think it was from the Lightning DLC one, not from the 100% completion one... has a brief scene where Yuel gets this smirk on her face, a look of smug accomplishment or something. It's when no one is looking at her (I think she has her back to Caius?).
I have a feeling that something there, whether it's Yuel herself or some entity that can embody the reincarnating ones (Etro herself?) is going to turn out to be the true villain. Lumina (the Serah look-alike) is going to be a physical reincarnation of Serah, but embodied by this entity (Yuel, Etro, or something new).
Lightning is still trying to save Serah in XIII-3, even though Serah clearly died at the end of XIII-2. This means either she'll re-write history (plenty of precedent for that in this series), or Serah will somehow live anew. The reincarnation method allows for a version of the latter, although it'll be a "new" Serah (as Caius made point of regarding the Yuels).
We know that XIII-3 is supposed to have a good ending. This means either Lightning rewrites history, or she defeats Lumina, prevents the end of the world, and the Lumina-entity is driven from the reincarnated Serah body, leaving a living Serah-like in her place.
Hmm... I didn't think of that, actually. Or it's been too long since I've thought about it, but you're probably right.
I never played the Lightning DLC, but does that happen after the secret ending, explaining why
- Hajime Tabata (Type-0) is co-directing
- You can still switch player control between party members in battle.
- Hashimoto says the "dishonest" days of not having information for "months at a time" are behind them. Expect frequent and regular updates.
- They are considering releasing it on PC.
- They want to use Vita and other devices (tablets, etc.).
We are in good hands.
Now if only Tabata could get Type-0 localized over here.
Potential PC release? Color me intrigued. Of course, this is one of the rare times when I'd likely get the PS4 version anyway because a new FF game deserves to be played for several days straight on the couch.
Why wouldn't you play it with a controller on the PC too? Not that I have any interest in Advent Children Hearts: Sexy Angst edition anyway.
Eh, my entertainment area just isn't set up to make big-screen gaming happen with my PC. So it's either sitting close to a monitor, or sitting on a couch with the big TV. I'll generally go for PC given the choice, but I suspect my PC will be starting to show its age on these next-gen titles.
Oh okay, that makes sense. My PC is hooked up to my TV but it didn't occur to me that I'm probably outside the norm on this.

Caius will most likely not be in FFXIII-3?
Hmm... I can't remember exactly, since I'm having trouble dividing up which scene happened in which ending. The Lightning DLC ending scenes were both before and after the two "standard" ending scenes, adding to the confusion. I think it was a bit of an add-on to one of the existing scenes?

"throw it into the Rift" was the way of dealing with stiff two strong for the twelve weapons.
What does this mean?
Much like how Superman deals with most of his problems by throwing them into the sun, in FF5 if a weapon/monster/t-shirt is too powerful it gets tossed into the Interdimensional Rift.
Yeah. there's a book in the Rift that details the first encounter with Omega and Shinryu. They were too powerful for even the twelve weapons, so htey were interred into the Rift, hopefully never to be seen again.
In other news, I got my Earth job. Dancer! Bartz is going to learn Equip Swords and become the most fabulous Dancer ever to wield a Brave Blade!
I can do OK damage with physical attacks, but can't keep it up for very long since I have to heal up (slowly) every once in a while, and then she drains lots of her health back
Also really irritating is that the Firaga from my Flame Whip will get reflected if she puts that up
Yeah. I think I'll first level a bit, since I skipped some of the Legendary Weapons so I'm probably a bit under where I should be. Then I'll go looking for scary monsters or axes like you said
Does anyone have a sense of when (or if) throwing is better than gil toss? I'm trying to figure out if 25k on a shuriken is better or worse than 25k of gil toss.

The elemental scrolls hit everything for 1000+ with normal resistance and are only 200 each.

Yeah, but those don't really seem to move up significantly and are already well behind gil toss (which is doing somewhere between 3-6k depending on the mob). I don't really have a lot of longevity in my group, so I'm looking for burst to get through most fights.
Man, the Fiesta does not want to make this playthrough quick for me. Got White Mage with the Wind Crystal.. Then I got Summoner with the Water Crystal. Now the Fire Crystal has given me Beastmaster. Its like the Fiesta Bot wants me to have to do every side quest in the game.
My first attempt at tacking the Fireship boss was a failure. She blazed me twice and killed my Time Mages before I could throw my ice rods at her, and trying to keep them alive just flushed away all my phoenix downs before I could do anything.

The Fireship Boss was the first easy boss for me. Two white mages casting Cure 2 and two Summoners calling on Shiva made quick work. Getting Shiva was my hardest fight simply because I had no AOE at the time to deal with the three minions in that battle. Of course, I've also done A LOT of grinding to make up for my lack of offense.
Einzel, in the Job Fiesta, you are randomly assigned one class from each crystal, and those are the only classes you are allowed to use, with a minimum of always having at least 1 of those classes on your team. So, when I got White Mage as my Wind Crystal class, I could only use White Mages. Once I got Summoner from the Water Crystal, I was able to use both White Mages and Summoners. And now that I have Beastmaster, I need to have at least 1 White Mage, Summoner, and Beastmaster in my party with the fourth slot also being one of those three.
So my amazing strategy for beating Omniscient was to have my samurai just sit and wait until he silenced himself then Zeninage him good. Once I got two off before he libra'd himself (which counts as a physical attack and prompts a casting of Return) he started casting the -aga spells and actually damaging himself versus his regen. Took like 30 Returns for that scenario to play out though...
I just started playing Dissidia last night, and I don't quite understand the movement grid thing. I've only played through the prologue, but it just seems like an unnecessary, empty thing. Some squares have gil bonuses I guess? Do you have to make that square your "home" square to get the gil? What the heck to Destiny Points do? Are the grids outside the prologue more populated with enemies? Questions!
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

Which Dissidia? 012? If you have access to 012, you should play that one instead of the original.
Uh... the first one? I figured I was going to want to play both of them, so I started with the first one. The few battles I've played have been pretty fun so far.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
The second one is basically Super Dissidia, like Super Street Fighter. No reason to play the first if you have access to the second.
In fact, the second game contains the entire campaign from the first game. The board system was retooled and a barebones overworld was added, along with several new characters, arenas, moves, supports, and a ton of balancing of the combat system, shop systems (more than one!), and character advancement systems.

OK, I guess every once in a while she switches to having a physical weakness. That's cool...

The funny thing about the legendary weapons is that while they are all really good they aren't the best weapon of their class for any category.
The Samurai one though is AMAZING, when equipped you get to go first no matter what on turn on and it casts Haste when used as an item.

I think I just need to level some.
But I still miss better healing than just high potions...

You could alternatively give Equip Axes to everyone, if possible, to hit through Calofisteri's defense.

Protip: Bone Mail.

Weapon abilities also work, regardless of her defense. Like Sword Dance, or the bow that shoots four times.
Ah, that would sure make her drain kind of funny :P

You've always got items. That's all I've ever had haha :P
I did beat Calofistri finally. Just needed a couple more levels for a bit more HP, then it was straightforward.
