Well, I canceled Best Buy pre-order because a friend said the local store fucked him over on the WiiU pre-orders. I went with Gamestop and got the The Order: 1886 bundle. Only because their Drive Club bundle had an extra controller I'll never use.
If they'll do a price drop and actually support Remote Play this time around, I'll pick up a Vita as well.
Someone in the last thread said that Sony's basically stating that any game not using Eye or Move is required to support RemotePlay.
No source provided, but I trust you people. Implicitly.
*Falls backward*
The source was the President of Sony World Wide Studios, Suhei Yoshida.
Also, it seems every time I've posted something for the PS4, my source has been Suhei's twitter account. The guy is kinda awesome at getting information out there for a company President.
yea... I've been wondering... So... if i leave my house... and go somewhere else.... with my ps vita.... that has a wifi connection.... I can play... Call of duty multiplayer?!?!?! *crosses fingers*

No, I believe the console communicates directly with the Vita over its own wifi signal. It bypasses your router entirely (as the router would add lag).

If it works anything like it does on PS3, it can actually. But you're right that there'll be a lot of latency, so games like CoD would be pretty much unplayable.

But what if we use the magic of the CLOUD *spirit fingers*
Walked in to GameStop to pick up The Last of Us, and noticed that they were taking preorders. Console preorders used to be $50 down, but this year the PS4 and X1 require $100. Financially, I can do this, so I did. But I'm already having buyer's remorse. I know I want a PS4 eventually but the only launch title I'm looking forward to is Watch_Dogs, and I can pick that up on PC.
Also the thought of getting a console at launch is kinda scary. I usually give them a year to work out the kinks.
The misreporting of xbox policy and strategy works both ways. I have a sneaking suspicion that the family share just happens to be another not quite decided on policy that is working in their favor for once. That's why they're not correcting it, but not really commenting either.
Agreed. The thing about this family plan is that, if it's really as open as people hope, publishers are going to hate it FAR more than they've ever hated the used market. They hated the way you used to be able to share PSN games between 5 people, enough that Sony eventually brought that down to 2, and this would be doubling it. So I see either two scenarios: One where it's everything people hoped and only lasts a year before publishers force Microsoft to change it. And the other where it's nowhere near as good as hoped.
People are forgetting MS said it's up to the publishers to able sharing so it doesn't matter if MS allow you each to share 100 games with 100 people if the publishers flick the switch to disable sharing on their games.

Then it'll have negative lag, of course. The cloud will predict your button presses before you've done a thing because it's fucking magic.
I'm not planning on getting an Xbox, ever. I even regret having a 360!
I don't care about Halo enough to own a console just for it, and all other cool games are gonna be on my home system, the PC, and the PS4.
ill also have a wiiu for zeldamariometroid.

Depending on the connections you use, its really not that bad. I used to play BlazBlue over wifi at work with my PS3 hooked up to my home network via 10/100, and it was completely playable. A fighter is just as problamatic as an FPS in regards to lag, so its a valid real world test.
So what's the deal with Uncharted 3's single player 2D and 3D movies?
You must have at least one of the movie packs installed to play single player. If you have a 3D TV you can choose to only download the 3D movies (cutscenes) for example. It's broken up so you can pick and choose which ones to download.
Every day i spend using this PS3 amps me up for PS4 even more... Did you know that stuff will continue to download even when you've turned off your console?
PSN Store is blowing XBL marketplace out of the water too. Theres goddamn digital bundles! For like...$35 i got Infamous + Infamous2 + the vampire DLC + all infamous2 DLC
Hot damn!
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

But will it watch me while I shower and sleep?!?
In any event, I have been watching the E3 trailers again and I have to say, everything I want is still mostly third party. I wish they had shown more of the Order, because I do like the premise of the game quite a lot. Otherwise if there was something I felt both parties had in common it was that they didn't really show anything exclusive that really amazed me.
I am still excited about Battlefield 4 with 64 players and dat destruction. I am going to blow up everything. Everywhere. All the time.
Mark Cerny is exactly the kind of person I wish all developers were like.
If you're an up and coming developer or publisher, and a Mark Cerny type fellow walks in your door. Hire him. Hire him right away.
He's John Carmack's estranged twin who moved to Japan and got weird.
I've never spent time reading up on corporate entities, but now when it does matter and has an impact beyond the enjoyment of the console, I'm pleasantly surprised to see that Sony has a roster of affable personalities. Cerny is clearly more than that, but Cerny's also more of a developer than an executive. At the end of the day, though, it's really the corporate philosophy, or at least the way they present themselves, that has me embracing Sony. Like, making mistakes is one thing - not apologizing another; and to me, Sony seems like a different company than in the PS3 days.
As far as that video with Cerny goes, it's clearly worth a look. There's certainly a dearth of children-friendly, "violence-free" gaming for one, but he also states how it's important to him to make game development easier, which is something I really would love to see. So, seriously, win on all fronts from Sony, for me, personally. Truly astonishing.
I know what you're saying. I signed up for PS+ during E3 when I heard about it for the first time ever and was just laughing for a solid hour at how good it is.
Like, I still can't believe there isn't some massive, crushing downside that I've overlooked. How are they making money on this?
This is going to be the first console I've ever owned at launch.
I'm sorry, gentlemen, but I'll be bringing my bad luck with me. You should all begin mentally preparing yourselves for whatever this thing's equivalent of the RROD will be.

It is. Someone actually asked Cerny about that at E3, she plays two different characters in the game.

This is beautiful.
Probably should have started that before I went out to mow the lawn.

Amazon never bills until they start preparing to ship your package. Its normally somewhere around 5 or 6 hours prior to the actual shipping.
Zoom in, zoom out and twirl it all about.
Fuck. Yeah.
