Yeah, but that is just using a metaphor, man.
The problem with that kind of metaphor is that if you need to say "look we're not saying anything about women, or body types, or personalities, or forms of dress, or any of that, just ride the metaphor in this video that exploits differences in women, body types, personalities, and forms of dress in order to make our point", maybe you should just find a better metaphor. Using actual people (even in parody/jest/dumb internet video) to personify a product, especially when you are comparing products, is insanely touchy and it takes somebody with heavy amounts of marketing acumen (like the Apple ad it spoofs) to not immediately come off as everyone involved being awful.

Oh, I agree. G4 probably did not put much thought into the skit, but I do find it entertaining. Even though it is awful, it is also funny. Just don't take it personally. It is not like it is a comedy about the holocaust or anything.

Go with whichever of these approaches appeals to you the most.

You mean Dead Rising for a Microsoft exclusive. Titanfall is not an exclusive.

And Sony, unlike Microsoft, actually has a wealth of first party studios.

No, I meant Titanfall. Right now there is no announcement for a PS4 version from Respawn, just like there is no X1 announcement from Capcom with Deep Down. Will there be one? Probably, but right now they are both exclusives.

Deep Down is being partially made by Sony, it's a joint project between them and Capcom, so it'll never leave PS4. Not that I was that thrilled with it after learning its F2P.

The F2P is quite a drag on my hype for Deep Down. F2P can be done right, but I don't expect Capcom to be the ones to do it.

Played the PS4 Demo kiosk at the Houston Galleria Sony Store this morning. I took 2-3 pics which I will post later. The guy there was being a bit weird about the pics, so I just focused on playing some of the games. I got about 8-10 minutes worth of time with Knack and about the same with FIFA 14. The systems were running in an enclosed white box on the floor near us and were connected to two 42" Sony TV's on the wall in front of us. They had empty PS4 machines underneath each TV, but once you looked at them, you could see that they were just empty cases. When I looked down through the small port where the controller cords were coming from, I could see some red lights down in the large white case where they were hidden.

Controller - I liked the controller. It had a decent amount of weight to it. It was responsive and comfortable. The small speaker in the controller was noticeable during Knack the most. It would make a jingling sound when you acquired more...knack bits? Knack nubbins? Knackables? The light on mine was blue and wasnt really noticeable unless you flipped the controller up to actual look at the light itself. The circle underneath the regular D-Pad and the circle under the buttons is a huge fingerprint magnet. It was pretty smudgy already and I was the first person to play it that day. Im 6'2" and have larger hands and the controller felt great to me.

Knack - Knack was a lot of fun. I really think that it is a game that you just need to play to see if you like it first. Reminded me a lot of Jak & Daxter as far as the platforming goes. Small fights with 2-4 enemies and then some light platforming. It was a very colorful and bright game. The detail in the environment was very nice. All of the concrete had a good amount of grain to it. It really did look like concrete. The water areas you could see in the background were really nice looking overall. As you found destructible items called Relics, you would grow in size and be better capable of facing the larger mini boss style characters you found every few encounters. It was a lot of fun. Not overly difficult, but a nice looking platformer with some light fighting involved. I had it in my Gamefly queue to rent at launch and while it will probably stay there for me, I will definitely pick it up once it hits $29.99 or $34.99. Or hell, I liked it enough to get it for around $49 at least.

FIFA 14 - I play a lot of FIFA already and have 14 on the PS3. I will just say that it looked A LOT better. It wasnt the "Holy Crap" graphics that the NBA 2K14 demo shows, but it definitely looks better. The demo game was Real Madrid vs. Barcelona with it defaulting to me as Barcelona. The lighting was much improved over the current gen version. There was a lot more depth of color in the players, field and stadium. The crowd was way way more dynamic than Ive seen out of an EA game. I couldnt see repeating people in close proximity to each other. I scored a goal with Neymar and in the replay I could clearly see people in the crowd near the goal celebrating and they looked like the had their own non-repeating celebrations. One guy was shaking both fists in the air and yelling while other people were rushing forward and jumping around. They also were all wearing different articles of clothing and I really didnt see a lot of repetition outside of people wearing Barcelona jerseys. The grass was nice and thick and possibly a bit too thick for a normal field. It was somewhere between soccer pitch and my yard after a week of rain. The players looked good overall. The jerseys and uniforms were great but the players still had the uncanny valley thousand yard stare going on. The sides of the pitch had a lot of activity with different looking photographers, medics with a stretcher and a medical kit, some police whose jackets actually said Policia on the back.

System - As I said, the system was completely hidden. The demo unit was quick and responsive overall. The one next to me froze up when trying to access the demo for Contrast, which I was interested in since its taking DriveClub's place. It went to a screen that asked you to push the PS button to return to the menus but ended up stuck in a loop. I left before they restarted it.

All in all I was impressed. The controller was nice and the two games I got to mess around with looked great and were fun to play overall. I didnt expect much out of FIFA other than it being a prettier FIFA and that was exactly what it was. If you like FIFA you are good to go. Knack definitely moved up on my list and may be a purchase since DriveClub and Watch Dogs have slipped to the Spring. I love Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter and that is definitely what Knack reminded me of. I already have my PS4 paid off, so this was just a nice chance to take a quick month early test drive. Cant wait until November 15th now.

yea capcom definitely burned up any benefit of the doubt they might have had re microtransactions/dlc/f2p anything over the course of this generation. its going to take hard details on the business end of deep down before i am willing to care even a little about deep down.

I'm really leaning towards picking up FIFA and NBA 2K at launch since I haven't owned a basketball or soccer game in forever, feels like a good time to jump in.

I wish I liked sports games because whatever the ballbaskets game was looked pretty good. Diversify though, seriously. I don't do sports games and I picked up one of the recent NHL games two years back and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Edit: enjoyed the experience, that is, which is to say that I didn't regret my decision, and had fun, but probably wouldn't buy more sports games. It was informative towards games in general in a way, though, so I concluded it was a good idea. (I concluded that NHL '12 is basically an RPG where you grind by shooting pucks into nets.)

Geezus. This is why we can't have funny things (not that the video is particularly funny). It's a video comparing the fat, serious PS3 to the slim, bright and bubbly Wii - using as surrogates a fat serious woman and a slim bubbly one. Yes. The insidious head of male-dominated-media-objectification rears once again.

So it'd be really nice if the store works better on PS4.

I can't wait to be able to try out the DS4 for myself. It seems like such a good controller.

I haven't even really -thought- about games, though. Watch_Dogs was pretty much going to be my first game (Assassin's Creed was my first PS3 game, so it seemed fitting), but then I just started planning around buying my PS4 in January or so, whenever I could find one, so I could pick up inFamous: Second Son. Wasn't planning on playing -that- first, though. Still not, since I don't want to plan on getting one when I get that since they will invariably not have any. Hmm.

it could just be the angle of the photo, but there does not appear to be a lot of clearance above and below the USB port.

Anything marginally thicker than the USB plug itself could be a problem. Off the top of my head, USB SD card readers and waterproofed / rugged USB sticks almost always fail when the ports aren't flush with the surface of the device.

I mean, it's not a deal breaker by any stretch, but I have been annoyed in the past when the design trumps the function. The original xbox 360 had USB ports recessed and behind a flap, and large USB devices were hosed as a result.

I just spent like the last 45 minutes googling through hands-on impressions to see if anyone, anywhere, has mentioned that the recessed USB ports would be too small to be inaccessible to fatter devices

    I have found nothing

Not saying it's impossible, MS did it with the 360 as you pointed out, but they also launched a system with no HDMI or Wi-Fi, and with as much effort as Sony seems to be making this time around I can't see them making an oversight like that

I wonder if a USB 3.0 hub would be possible

Those oversights are nothing when you remember that MS used the wrong kind of solder that ultimately resulted in the entire RROD fiasco.

And yeah, pretty sure they've already said you can connect a hub. You can with the PS3.
