Guy randomly approaching people waiting at Wii U demo kiosks to talk about Xbox One.

You did it, and did it fairly.
I'm proud of you.

If this thread is any indication, it's not just this guy: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=587891
Seems they're specifically targeting the Wii U demo stations.
Which is both really shitty and really funny.

No, I mean, I feel bad for any of those guys
It ain't like they care that much. They just need a paycheck, and they're the ones getting poked fun at instead of the CEOs who approved the boneheaded move, ya know?

Sure, but this argument does what most counter arguments from development or establishment figures do. It focuses on sidestepping the issue and targeting the people rather than the actual issue. No one of any importance is saying that this is the end of Microsoft. But it is definitely giving people am easy choice in which console to buy, if they get one. And that marketing reaction is, at this point, absolutely something the company should be worried about. Especially because it is a reaction to the console itself and their policies. Things that they have said they don't intend to change. That means that the negative press won't subside, it'll just grow. People aren't going to forget the higher price point or the drm like they might some other pr nightmare.
Yeah, the ps3 ended up being a good console with fun games, and its sales ramped up in later years. It also lost all the profits of the five year ps2 era (the most popular and best selling console to ever exist) in something like eight months. In eight years, Sony's playstation division has only barely recovered. If Microsoft endures something like that, it will go badly for them. They won't go out of business, but that doesn't mean it's going to be great.
No one knows how the release will go or how sales will pan out, but at this point in time, Microsoft is in a pr hell, and coming out of the biggest pr event of the year, that's a big deal
Also I have more bells than god.
Edit* Also also, I made a Patrick McGoohan Prisoner jacket with the white trim and button and my town flag is a penny-farthing bike. Seemed appropriate.
Yet the past few days, all I hear them talking about is what an obviously better choice the PS4 is right now. These aren't the hardcore, or the tech geeks. These are just young, blue-collar dudes. And this is extremely anecdotal, obviously, but if these people in the target demo of the casual market think Microsoft is trying to fuck 'em, that doesn't seem to bode terribly well for Microsoft's next few years.
More anecdotal evidence, my brother is CoD guy, that's pretty much all he plays. He told me the One looks like crap and the PS4 looks way better
and then I told him about the DRM and online check-in
and then he upgraded the One from "crap" to "shit"

exactly. A couple days ago, someone made a really good post about how people that are closely following this stuff have kind of imagined up this consumer who is not paying attention and who I guess kind of glides through life as a fleshy blob who doesn't know shit from shit. But that isn't true. Casual purchasers and users of game systems do hear things, and they are informed to a certain extent - especially about the broadstrokes news stories like the issues with the Xbone. In fact, they're the most likely to take some broad headlines and coverage and make a decision right then and there to distance themselves from a product.
I concur.
they're not anywhere near the position Sony was after making two of the most successful consoles of all time twice in a row
when third console curse hits them it's going to hit harder than the ps3
The FCC thinks so.
Actually, do they? I can't keep that stuff straight.
No, you're completely justified. It sucks for those guys because they know there's no way anyone wants to deal with them. It's shitty marketing like this that make me actively avoid products. You rack up a couple of irritating or unsavory commercials or campaigns like this one, and I will more than likely completely ignore your product.

Well, I haven't really heard anyone saying that it's justified, just that their attitude is reminiscent of pre-PS3 Sony.
Arrogance ain't always earned!

It's almost exactly the same story for the amusement park I'm working at this summer
Just about every guy is the stereotypical "Call of Duty+Madden" guy
And all we've been talking about the last couple of days is "Man, Microsoft is in trouble"
Their stuff got stolen? How much of their stuff?!
Also when did the otter thing become their E3 symbol for the year?
