No shooting through walls for this title," a Respawn developer going by the name "scriptacus" said. "It'd take a fair bit of design work to do otherwise, especially with the power of the Titan weapons. From a realistic standpoint you would expect them to be the most effective at penetrating walls, but that would just make life suck for Pilots."
...
"Another title having a feature is not the bar by which we justify features," the Respawn developer said. "While I'm acutely aware of the benefits of bullet penetration in the tactical shooter genre, with the way this game plays I'm not sure what sort of design space it would really open up. It's certainly not a feature I find myself missing and I don't even think it qualifies as 'something we would definitely have done if we had the time.' No doubt we'll evaluate it further depending on our next project, but it's definitely not a no brainer."
Love their design ethic. Just because other shooters have it doesn't mean it improves quality of life here.
In a tight arena based game I am inclined to agree.
If this game didn't have high caliber titan weapons it wouldn't be a big deal.

Aaaahh it is so great to see a dev say "another game having a thing does not mean all games should have that thing." Recently it's sometimes felt like devs want their game to have everything every other game on the market has.
Whilst it would be super cool to have titan weapons punching through walls and murderating peoples (even more so if said wall exploded too); as hammered home elsewhere it'd suck for gameplay.
Maybe in a sequel with larger maps destructible environments could become more feasible.
yeah it would be nice to have some destructible environments. I think they focused on hitting 1080/60fps as their goal, and as Respawn gets bigger and has money to kick around, I am sure Titanfall 2 will be a much larger scale game.
I wonder if pre-orders will get their beta invites as part of that first wave?
I'd be terribly disappointed if I paid 250$ for the Collectors Edition thing and didn't get into the beta just because of some bullshit like not having BF4 on my xbox one. But...it's EA so I'm sure that'll be the qualifier.
No bullet penetration is fine, as long as they make sure that walls are graphically suitable.
One of the FPS's on the 360 (I forget which one) had chainlink fences that counted as solid objects with no bullet pen. I don't know why, but pretty much nothing in the entirety of the FPS genre has ever enraged me more than that.
What is this I don't even.

Well, I'd be screwed then too. I have BF4 on my PC, but not my XBox One...because, shooters on consoles, lulz. (I'm kidding, I'm a huge Halo fan, I just prefer PC when it's available).

It's not the fence's fault that you managed to hit all the fence parts with every bullet. Every. Single. Shot.

Alright, so, I'm pretty positive I'll pick up a One for Titanfall, as planned. Is there any chance there will be any sort of special deal, special edition, or anything in general that would give me a reason not to buy a One till closer to release?

Yeah...not happening. That's a mockup and very very lightly rumored. It's exactly a month from now to release, we would've known by now if it were a real thing.
it's too good of a design to be real, the real titanfall xbone would be gunmetal and have a rough "battleworn" look. like that ugly MW3 console...
Yeah, more often than not tie-in consoles are the tackiest pieces of shit. That xbone looks too clean, not something I'd be embarrased to have in my living room.
Actually it's because it doesn't have excessive branding. Therefore it's not real.
I think Gears of War did a pretty tasteful xbox. It was black with GoW's crimson cog/skull thing. Maybe I'm just dreaming. Dreaming of how things should be.
The MW2 360 was pretty good. Black and grey, came with a 250gb HD when 120's were standard, and 2 black controllers when they were relatively new.
I didn't mind that one but I prefer simpler, cleaner designs. I liked the R2D2 console the best actually, but I am huge nerd for star wars and I loved the custom blue light/sounds.
Luckily since it's 6v6 we won't have trouble finding full servers even without the people who inexplicably can't have fun unless 31 other people are having it near them.
I'm just baffled at how much rage you can have about a game you're super excited about. I don't know how a dev can process that. "Ok, so they seem to be absolutely thrilled about our game, but since it's 7am our time and we haven't mentioned anything new about the beta they are going to try and kill us."

Prepare for Titanfall...beta signup in 3'ish hours.
Okay, so I suck at embedding and all that. Anyways, Vince Zampella said that at 6pm PST the beta site will go up on his twitter.

That's a relief, had they gone P2P as in MW2 I would have skipped this entirely.
Finally our long nightmare shall end.

It appears there might be a Titanfall Xbox One bundle.

I'm pretty sure they said early on that the PC version would have the same thing with servers hosted in Microsoft Azure as the Xbox One version.
not quite sure how I feel about that.
Eh, at least I found out now instead of at release.

I never thought I'd be this excited about something "from the makers of Modern Warfare 2."
I learned that official forums for anything are always terrible a long time ago.
