I took a look at the XBox One specs. 8 cores. Yep. I will get it on that one.
That's not how computers work. The game is going to run better on your PC than an XBone, I think.
In any case this shit's preloading at 12mb/s from Origin which is pretty nice. Looking forward to Titanfalling.
Why would this be? The console has the better hardware and is designed to primarily run games.
Another thing worth pointing out is that more cores doesn't really mean anything, especially with AMD which has traditionally gone with far more cores than Intel chips but have always lagged behind in power. It's not the number of cores or even the clockspeed that matters, it's what each individual core is capable of which is why Intel has been smoking AMD in performance for years. I'm not saying that your Intel is better than whatever the heck is in the XBOne these days, but just that you shouldn't just look at the numbers. Benchmark reports on sites like Tom's Hardware (my personal favorite) are always the route to go for true performance information.
Origin, why you charge me tax on my pre-order? Steam doesn't charge me tax. Sigh.
Pre-loading at 6MB/s! Which, if accurate (???) would be faster than anything has ever downloaded on my internet ever. What dark magicks are at EA's disposal to make this possible?
But wait! What drive is Origin set up to install games to? (I have literally not started Origin in probably 9 months?) I can't have this 50GB mutha landing on my OS drive! Panic stop pre-loading!
Oh...it was set up to install to the right drive all along. Curse 9-months-ago me for having to together, or maybe curse current me for not having it together. Start pre-loading over again...
This varies a bit from game to game, but generally the most important factor in PC gaming is your graphics card, rather than CPU. The two exceptions from what I've seen are the ragdoll and impact mark settings.
If it helps, apparently the controller support on PC is really good bordering on too good in terms of competitiveness, from what I've heard.
I light of this video, I am going to go PC. Thanks for the help.

I am definitely leaning towards PC now. I try to avoid having a game tied to a console when I can.

Wow that video is pretty impressive for an older gen card.
after waffling back and forth i broke and ordered it for xbone, i'm sure it'd look waaaay better on my pc and i far prefer kbam but all the hacks and aimbots on BF4 totally killed it for me, so hopefully the xbone will at least remove that problem.

I've got a couple buddies still rocking 400 series cards. That generation has really held up well in general and is still taking everything thrown at it. Users may not be able to 100% max everything but their games still run well.

I dunno, I'm running 2x 560 Ti, so I suppose it shouldn't be hugely surprising to me. But the latest driver update was the first in a long time that was stable for me. I guess I'm just kind of surprised that the older cards are still doing well.

There's no reason for them not to do well... now that we have a new generation of consoles out, games will start to look nicer, but for many years game graphics remained more or less stable because anything that had to run on consoles couldn't be too crazy.

Yeah, and as I've pointed out, the "jump" between the last gen cycle and this one is like "can sometimes manage 30 more fps than the older one" so it's really not that huge a leap forward.

It's also good to keep in mind that the majority of the game is going to be taken by the Video Card these days and not the cpu. Any modern quad-core generally will be good enough to run this game (and most other games.) if the video card is competent. The XBone has a fairly weak video card in comparison to whats on PC's, it's more like a video card from 2 generations ago for PC than anything on the market right now. It's also worth noting that as good as the benchmark sites like Tom's Hardware are, synthetic benchmarks to not = real in game performance for most people usually. I upgraded from an AMD 1090t 6-core on my desktop to an Intel 3770k with water cooling which i OC'd on a fresh new high-end mobo and saw only about a 5% (if that.) bump in performance in most games, in some games i saw a 0% difference. Just because the Xbone has 8-cores doesn't mean it's automatically better.

No. A gaming PC will always be stronger than consoles.
I would bet money my current PC has more power than any of the current consoles, and it predates them by some months (And if it doesn't, $200 will put it so far out of their reach it's laughable).
At this point it will depend on what graphics are optimized for. Its a heck of a lot easier to tune for a console then whatever screwy stuff is in a box.
The frequency some of you must upgrade is staggering to me.
Like, a Radeon 9600? That's even longer between upgrades than I go!
I'm fairly certain he meant Nvidia 9600 (which is still pretty old.) I think i have an old Radeon 9800 in a box in the garage. 256mb of ram yo. The 9600 had like 128 or something didn't it? My second computer ever had a Radeon 9800 in it, before that my dad had bought one when i was like 5 that has one of those ATI 3D Rage cards or something and it came with mechwarrior 2.
Also remember that if you run a game on a console it's not going to be running on settings as high as you might run it with on a PC. If you don't run the game on your PC at 1080, if you run it at a lower resolution to match a console, you can make even a comparatively weak PC run pretty well. Obviously it won't look as good as it would at 1080, but then again the console can't do that either, so...

Isn't titanfall 1080p on xbox one?
No, it's running at 720p like a lot of games are.
For what it's worth there's an old computer sitting in my dad's attic that runs Windows 3.1 and has a Pentium processor and like 8mb of RAM, iirc. It still boots up.

Really wanted to get Titanfall, however I just dropped around $500 fixing my car (after dropping $1000 fixing other things on it a few weeks ago). Trying to decide if I should still go to the local MS store for the release party and play some. Who knows maybe they'll be giving some stuff away?

I tend to ignore the synthetics and instead look directly at the game performance benchmarks. The synthetics are neat but generally meaningless to someone soley interested in gaming performance. It also means I tend to ugprade my CPU far, far more infrequently than my GPU precisely because actual gaming performance is rarely heavily impacted by newer CPU generations. I generally only do it when I need to swap MOBOs to give an idea of how infrequently I do it.
GPUs on the other hand I tend to swap every other generation because everyone knows the higher your framerate the larger your e-peen.

Microsoft has said Azure is coming to AUSNZ "soon," and Respawn has said they're working with Microsoft to at least get some dedicated servers set up in Australia for you guys. Only South Africans have been denied official Titanfall (apparently because of a local consumer complaint).

Ugh, I genuinely feel bad for Respawn with this whole mess, because it's EA that's set them up in this stupid mess of server issues thanks to moneyhatting. Respawn also doesn't get any say in where Azure backbones go either, so they can't even set places up with local servers without having to get Microsoft to make a major investment.
Not a good situation overall for Microsoft to show off the "power" of the Azure network, considering that if you aren't in the right place, you just don't get support, as opposed to people just being able to rent/buy local servers the old-fashioned way.
I'm hoping this game has legs. This comes out on the same day as Dark Souls 2 so I think I'm going to try and wait till there is a PC deal or price drop. $60 for a PC game is a bit more than I like paying. I'll try to remain strong in light of all of the hype.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

I think the gameplay is compelling enough with just the modes we've seen so far to keep people playing. Like...you have a lot of genuine fun every time you get a titan.
Yeah, but unless you live in a prison colony you have dedicated servers.
While this made me laugh out loud, I feel it's important to point out South Africa wasn't a prison colony. So the obvious answer there is clearly racism.

How soon is soon though. I'm hankering for a MP fps and this is ticking so many boxes but if at launch I have to play on Singaporean servers, it simply isn't feasible with 200+ ping.
However if they get dedicated servers in Aus/NZ i'm so on board

This is the kind of question you should tweet at the entire Respawn staff, Microsoft's Azure folks, and other people actually in a position to answer this question with numbers and not just warm wishes and hope.

Huh?
Vince has said multiple times that they partnered with MS because of Azure, as it's much, much cheaper and far, far less hassle than trying to handle it themselves.
Anyway, thanks to my brother buying my regular controller of me I was able to walk out of Gamestop today with. Titanfall edition controller and $60 worth of MS bucks. Now all I need is a bottle of booze and I'm all set for Monday night.
