It's not going to be able to compare to a game where every platform challenge is well-designed by a real designer.
It's one of those where I expect people will play it for and hour and go "oh...oh." And then maybe try to keep playing it for a little while longer to get your money out of it, and then never play it again.
Just wondered what came of that. :P Anyone play it? From what I hear people had good first impressions but all discussion dropped off the face of the earth a couple days after release. Even the neogaf thread died at 3 pages. Did it have the longevity people thought it would, due to the infinite replayability, procedurally generated levels?

Did that matter, in the end?
I played the demo on 360, and the game was just too ugly and felt too floaty for me to justify buying it.
That's probably the most reasonable take I've read on the WiiU, which coincidentally I agree with almost completely
I definitely think the U-->GC parallels are clear, and I loved my cube. If that means I get X and an Eternal Darkness follow up, well, a Takahashi Xeno game and an ED revival would justify just about anything short if an NGage to me.

It's awesome, and quite a different beast from other platformers I've played
Not as good as a Super Meat Boy, and that comes from simply having all the levels be "start at the left, go to the right"
The actual content within those levels was definitely engaging and fun, moreso than randomly generated has a right to be, but it did mean they couldn't get too inventive about objectives other than "get to the end"
If they had done like, say, five or six more possible level layouts in addition to all the modifiers they had in there, it would be something truly special

Ah, ok. I know the game's technically unbeatable, but did you beat the main story mode?
Downloaded Spin the Bottle and played it at a party tonight. It's actually really fun if you have the right crowd for it. Great presentation, but surprisingly phallic character design.

I've got SF2 Turbo on Wii VC so it will nice to bring it across cheaply for the GamePad. Though to be honest, after years of playing it through High School, I might be just about done with those games.

Not yet, in the upper 200s of...I believe it's 500?
In a sense some of them are, but only the videos where Boost Mode is being used to place blocks as makeshift platforms to allow routes otherwise impossible.
Other than that though it mostly seems to just be Nintendo's unassisted QA staff having a bit of fun.
Alright and in this next scene all the animals have AIDS.
I got a little excited when I saw your ship.

So which of these are the best? I am tempted to pick up ONE of them. Is Cammy only in New Challengers?
Of those, yeah Cammy's only available in Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers.

That's probably what I'll grab then (I really give no shits about the Turbo stuff). Are there any characters not available in New Challengers that are in other versions?
What the fuck?! I mean I knew it had to be possible to use Squirrel Suit and Pink Yoshi to cheese stages like that but to watch it in motion was such a thing of pure beauty. I am not normally humbled by others ability in 2D platformers but I seriously doubt I could pull off Luigi's part in that.

I don't know if I'd call that "cheesing the stage" :P That's certainly a bit harder than riding those platforms

I am used to my antics being called cheesing by friends going all the way back to Super Mario World. You are right in that it is not the best choice of words.
Bummer they're not releasing Ultra SFIV on the Wii U
That would be rad on the Game Pad
Especially because they could do what they did with Super on the 3DS, and let you tie Super/Ultra moves to the touch screen when you're playing on the TV
Part of me likes fighting games pre-Super/Ultra Bars. They can be hard to pull off with the standard controller; changes the dynamic of fights, with the closing moments being all about the super/ultra move.
It's not always the case, but I found SFIV very hard to enjoy. It has many commands requiring multiple button pushes. In comparison MvC and DarkStalkers have slightly more useable commands and the use of supers is spread more evenly through the fights.
As far as approachable Capcom fighters go, I consider SFIV to be the tops
MvC is way too insane for me, I love the deliberate pace of SFIV
My real love is Virtua Fighter but I don't think we'll ever see it on a Nintendo console for some reason or another
Yeah, two quarter circles to the left and a trigger button (which I've mapped to PPP) for an Ultra move is something I can't hit consistantly under pressure.
MvC has one quarter circle and two face buttons which is much easier to do.
I do like the 1v1 combat in SF4, but the game seems designed for a 6 button arcade stick, not a 4 button + triggers controller.

I have never owned a Wii and I'm curious about the Virtual Console stuff, do you have to have a Wii U to get Earthbound and Megaman X, or is it possible to get them on a normal Wii?

Picked up Deadly Creatures, Mario Strikers, and Catherine for $10 total.
If you have a Wii or WiiU I highly recommend you seek out a copy of Deadly Creatures.

Hm.
Yeah, but these releases don't really cost Capcom anything. A port of Street Fighter 4 on Wii U would probably lose them money.

I will probably get SF2 Turbo anyway because I love that one. But goddamn it, MEGAMAN ME BABY.
Still though, always good to see more streets being fought in the world.
