Sweet Moba Game: Bloodline Champions Needs More New Blood

warder808warder808 Registered User regular
Hi All!

I've played this game off and on over the years. It's a ton of fun, and a match can be over in 10 minutes if you dont have an entire hour to devote to a game.
The community can use a little work, so I came here to see if anyone would want to try it out. My in game name is zaknafayn.

Welcome to the world of Bloodline Champions, a diamond-in-the-rough PVP MOBA game launched in 2009, standalone until coming home to Steam in 2011.

4sl3pe.jpg

What's the appeal?
BLC offers free, competitive, fast-paced arena combat where every ability is a skillshot, creating an experience unique to BLC.

If the game is so great why haven't I heard of it?
The tragedy is that the game was never shown much love, after a lukewarm reception during it's launch and a dwindling population, the developers and publisher quickly forgot about the game, only popping in monthly for an occasional announcement.

Why should I play it?
If you're a fan of the MOBA genre or have a craving for fast-paced PVP, weekly tournaments, and rewards, there is no game like this. In fact, this video may explain the appeal better than me.

What do I do? How do I play?

Each character comes with 6 abilities and their ultimate ability (F), each ability has a cool-down and gains energy on hit, energy can be used on ultimates, EX abilities and medallions.

Here's a great beginner's guide (available through the Steam overlay): http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=124784387#21748

How can I support this game so it doesn't die out?
You can buy every Bloodline and most weapons/skins by earning blood coins in-game, but if you want to support the devs and save yourself some time, you could purchase one of the value packs through Steam.

I always loved the art style of this game, but could never really get into playing it. The community never seemed to take off either leaving someone who was terrible like me surrounded by people who took it much more seriously and who were also much more capable, adding that much more in the way of getting in. Always struck me as a bit of a bummer and a squandered opportunity.

It really isn't a MOBA, it's a deathmatch game with MOBA controls. It didn't do well because they gutted everything that makes DotA fun. MOBAs are all about the slow burn, farming and leveling up over time with the occasional intense team fight.

    Multi Player Online Battle Arena.

I think it fits that definition. It's not the typical Moba, yes.

The game has a bit of a steep learning curve. But it isnt Dota, it's not pretending to be. Its a quick team action game. If you want to show your skill this is the game to do it, almost every action you perform in the game is a skill shot so it rewards mastery.

I used to play Gunner and Psychopomp a little bit.

Went back and found they'd added rune and mastery style stuff to it in complete contradiction to what the game was about and decided to not bother picking it up again.

Also it's really not a MOBA and taking MOBA as a literal definition allows you to include 90% of multiplayer games in the list of MOBAs. It's basically just a well made hero arena.

I played this for literally 5 minutes and enjoyed it. If I had infinite time it's a game I could definitely see myself playing.

Well I usually get on after 9pm EST.
I'm Zaknafayn. I get owned pretty good, but that is always more fun with friends. So invite online we can try to make a team and see how it goes.
I have a buddy playing who is just started out.

They have added some tutorials for people who are totally new.
The game is fun, it costs nothing and you can definitely play your fill in 30 minutes if you want.
If you enjoy it, give them $20. I think I spent around that much, and I've really enjoyed it.
The way this beats LoL for me is the time investment. It takes a bit of time to get the hang of it, but games don't go to the 45min-1 hour mark.

I play Inhibitor, Ravener, and starting to learn the Alchemist more.

I also quit because of the runes and such. Can't stand that stuff. Otherwise the game is fun enough, but draining to play for more than half an hour or so at a time. Also dead as a doornail outside of the EU. If you're in NA I hope you like 10 minute waits and games with the same 5 people over and over again.

Well that is part of why I created this post. Trying to gets some folks to play. You can easily switch your region to play with the European crowd if you want.
