Makes me sad - I've almost bought Offspring Fling so many times. I wish they'd coincide cards hitting with a sale price - even 33% or 50% and I'd grab a copy.
Also - exactly why did Zombie Driver justify an HD remake? I mean, I own the original - is there any reason aside from OMG cards that I should buy HD?
Thanks for the heads up but someone threw Offspring Fling at me last night...and while I'm willing to buy myself a few select things during the sale I'm not entering any giveaways on purpose. I'd rather folks with smaller backlogs get their hands on the goods than myself. I've had far too much generosity thrust my way over the past year and don't feel right throwing my name in anymore drawings.
Sniper Elite for 75% is pretty damn tempting. I cant see it being any lower during the Summer Dale.
Also Crusader Kings 2 is 75% off today!
IF YOU DO NOT OWN IT YOU ARE WRONG!!!!
I don't own it, but I believe I am not wrong. I don't own it because the learning curve and timesink the game involves would make me feel guilty having it in my collection/backlog. Maybe once more games are added to the "Finished" tag...
I will agree that it takes some time to learn. It sat in my backlog forever and I payed full price for it lol. But if you take the time to figure it out read a few guides etc, it is one of the most enjoyable and rewarding games out there!
The Magicka foil market (at least my poor foil) was hugely undercut after the first sale. Don't these people know I'm trying to fund PayDay 2 over here?
Edit: On the topic of Sniper Elite, has the Zombie co-op mode gone on a 75% sale yet? Will probably hold out for the Dale.
i sleep a few hours and 6 pages show up .... i have not read those pages yet, i just noticed evoland and have not seen any posts about it yet. it looks cool, love me some old school RPGs. Has anyone played it? is it good? worth buying now or waiting for the Dale?
They are located in Brazil, however I have purchased from them a few times without any problems.
Dude, I love you. I love you like you have no idea. I'm going to get into trouble buying it when I can't actually afford to spend money, but damn Civ V expansions have an awesome track records and this is more than 50% discount on something that ain't even come out!

I was gifted it. What I've played is quite good, if you're into nostalgia.
Idling games to get cards worth $0.50 feels like a weird analogue of bitcoin mining.

Seeing Sniper Elite at 75% off, it almost seems silly not to buy the franchise pack since it's only $1.25 more and gets you the first game as well as the "Kill Hitler + two rifles" DLC, which is probably my favorite name for DLC.

Are people not doing other things while idling? I've always got something else going at the same time? Or maybe I don't understand bitcoins. Either way, I'm cheap and free money is great - even if it's only 30 cents. 4 of those and you've got yourself a game during the sale!

Oh for sure. It's kind of a fun way to break up the monotony of fruitlessly searching for jobs all day!

same, I LOVE playing a sniper in FPS games, love it. not sure i have the time to dedicate to re- learn and play. the franchise pack is super tempting however. must sell more cards.

Sniper Elite V2 is very easy to get into, the original a bit tougher.
I don't get people talking about these elaborate idling schemes, I just set a few games running and go to bed. I run out of games with card drops way sooner than I run out of free computing time. Up to almost $40 so far, knowing summer dale thats like 4 AAA titles release in the past 18 months or a metric shit ton of indie games.
Thats Psychonauts! (if you haven't played this game, your life is not complete)
Thats Stacking!
Thats Costume Quest!
BUT ONLY ONE PERSON SHALL WIN THEM ALL! Dun dun DUN!
To win you must fight to the death for my amusement enter this give away! And when I'm drastically hungover on sunday I shall gift you with the Schafers of Tim!
So far games have just been dropping trading cards for those games. What if Valve Math shows that they could sell tons of copies of Bad Rats by having it drop cards for OTHER games with a higher than normal foil rate?

I'm not proud to admit that I would totally craft a Bad Rats badge multiple times just to get the chat emoticons.

I think the other game devs might object to associating their game with Bad Rats.
Okay guys, the Summer Dale is coming upon us. If not next week, soon enough that now would be a good time to take some steps to prepare ourselves.
Important Steps:
Learn to Love the Flowchart: http://i.imgur.com/nuzzd.png Don't buy anything for more than you need to, every little bit of money you save can probably get you another game or two!
Wishlist Pruning: Make sure your wishlist is up to date, and if possible sorted. There will be a lot of classiness being thrown around. They will want to get you the best games they can, so its your duty to rank your wishlist and make sure its full of games you really want. Getting a gift from someone is awesome, but getting a gift you really want just from the kindness of someone on the internet is even better. Make sure you help others trying to help you, and when you're looking for potential victims try checking their wishlists. Its always nice to get something they'll like.
Steam Wallets: Are you bad with money, or tend to go overboard on spending and interfere with your financial responsibilities? Put some money in the wallet! Its there being ready for the Dale and you won't have to worry about spending more than allocted! (If you have restraint and dont spend more anyways.)
Steam Groups: Get your requests to join the groups in now. When the Dale hits fully the groups close down because of the clusterfuck of posts and gifts being given away. During the Dale is the prime time that random people attempt to join the group to get in on receiving gifts, and thats just not Classy.
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/PAGT is the G&T Adventure Team group. Despite the name, it is open to ANY ACTIVE PA FORUMER. Active means different things to each Officer, but if you request an invite have a link to your PA Profile ready. 50 comments over 8 years isn't active, but 100 comments in the past 2 years might be. Its all subjective and up to the officer you approach. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/PennyArcade is the default PA Group. Much easier to get into, and also less interesting on a more daily basis.
Have Fun!: While the gift of giving is amazingly classy, not everyone can afford to do so. Don't feel bad, the Summer Dale is a season of enjoyment. While there WILL be gifts flying around willy-nilly, dont forget the enjoyment that can be had out of just playing games. Start multiplayer groups, get some friends together and blast some fools in an FPS, or Crush people in a Civ 5 game. The chats will be bursting with more people, so now is the PERFECT time to get social and make some friends.
Optional Steps:
Start Prefriending Potential Targets: If you friend someone in the middle of the Dale, the jig is up. They'll be on the defensive! They might even be prepared to fire back immediately. If you friend them now, you can catch them during the Dale with their pants down and thats ALWAYS more amusing.
Learn to Tag on the Forums: Got gifted and want to thank them publicly but their name has a space in it like some kind of monster? Easy! All you have to do is put quotes around their name, after the @. For instance @Lindsey Lohan is "Lindsey Lohan" behind the @. (Thanks to LiLo for suggesting this)
Find the Classiest of Targets: If you want to hit someone who you think really deserves it you can do some research. People who gift out a lot before the Dale tend to get deluged in gifts during it, so you can hit them with a gift and get out without a return fire. Its sneaky, but its always a good strategy!
Potential Classholes include (But are not limited to):
There are a million more Super Classy members amongst us, but these are just the big hitters off the top of my head. If I didn't mention you, don't feel bad! I am terrible with names and these are just the ones I can remember. These are just a starting guide for easy targets. If you noticed someone I missed hit them with some Summer Dale love! Its the perfect season to spread the class around.
Start installing Multiplayer games: With the excitement of new and old games going on super discount there will be a LOT of games being played. Install your favorites, and try to get some groups together! Even if they're not on sale there will be a lot of people in the chat rooms, so there is a higher chance of finding people to fill out a Game of Hot Pursuit, L4D, SR3, Payday, or any game you like to play! Celebrate the Dale with multiplayer Gaming goodness!
These are my tips to being prepared for the Dale. Have your own? Let me know and I can update the list! Most importantly this upcoming Dale seasaon: Have fun! Thats why we're here, thats what this community is about.

Little brother is coming back after an aborted trip to a theme park with Dishonored (explicitly for me)...
Little does he know I have FTL waiting for him.
Also, I have one foil, and it is sitting on the store waiting for someone to buy it for $5.

Another classy gentleman in this thread has already gifted me Psychonauts. Did you wanna pick another winner? Or shall I hold another giveaway for it?
I just finished Ep 5 of The Walking Dead. Man, what a great game. Much better than the tv show. Will we have to purchase season 2?
