the other night when i was playin w will and snowbeat i repair torched two tanks to death right next to one another. Almost got a third a little later but i only got as far as a disable before some dude sniped me

This isn't WOW, man, you're not tied to a class and have to make do.

you're not limited in versatility by playing one particular class, you're limited by choosing to not play all of them.

The only class I've really avoided playing is Recon and that's because I am shitty at being a sniper

I mean I probably need to get the fundamentals of aiming down first before trying to snipe some dudes.

I'm really getting tired of playing on that city streets map. I don't know the name, but it seems that every server I join has that map.

I like the big classic Battlefield maps with wide-open areas and lots of vehicles, dammit.

I'm honestly kind of tempted to go out and buy one of those stupid expensive ~gaming headsets~ because mine is kind of broken and not great and I got overtime pay coming

the good big open maps are Kharg Island and Caspian Border. If you have the expansions Oman is very large and one of the more fun maps for conquest.

For recon, the starting semi auto guns are all good learners before you get into the real meat of the bolt rifles.

They're actually really bonkers once you get the hang of not just twitch spraying unless dudes are right in your face and you can't miss.

heck the 417 is in my top ten kills weapons and i barely even play recon

I have never been able to justify a headset for my PS3. The fact that you are required to use bluetooth is just so fucked up.

that little jack on the bottom of the controller is one of the things I'm most thankful for on the PS4.

get the 4x scope unlocked

it makes close/medium range play way better. I run a big ballistic on the bolts sometimes but 4x is plenty of scope for most things and you can actually aim and get headshots at short ranges with a bit of practice.

I played a gulf of oman conq yesterday where it was me and one other guy on my team who weren't sniping on top of buildings. I had 60kills when the server crashed.

my favorite thing to do on gulf of oman is when everyone is rooftop sniper you get in the helo and just strafe the roof over and over and over again

or the jet, whatever

sometimes i'll just park a tank and shell the roof a whole bunch jjust to piss them off

Sks with a holo, grip and heavy barrel is my go to semi auto sniper rifle

does sks get a heavy barrel? that's the one semi auto i haven't used much.

thought most snipers didn't get heavy barrel since they already don't really drop off much compared to other weapons

Yup, just use it like an assault rifle pretty much.

it doesn't take too much to get into the hang of sniping. the main issue i have is that other people are way better at it than me so when i try to engage other recons i'm frequently outmatched.

It's like jet. I can jet okay but then some dude with 100 stars just on his f18 flies by and it's all over

Yeah the great thing is you can still do pretty well getting kills from a good distance with it even without a scope.

i think they nerfed it, but using just iron sights on the starter sniper rifles used to be really great
if you didn't like sniping you could just use it as a long range rifle

There seems to be like a grand total of 3 european servers with good ping using the DLC's.

I still haven't seen any DLC maps.

I just had a surprisingly decent match.

I mean we still lost but I got lots of resupply ribbons. And I had 5 kills and only 6 deaths!

Also I'm pretty terrible at actually shooting people. I keep trying to get the mortar but it's so far away.

I feel like shooting many bullets, but lack any DLCs. My Origin name remains Fyndir, and I shall be looking for appropriate non-DLC EU or US servers and trying to play for a little bit.
