Do you guys know of a way to grow a sequoia without waiting for freekin' ever? Server commands okay.
I hear watering cans increase the tickrate of what they water or something, basically causing time to run faster for the affected blocks. I don't know how to artificially grow those trees, but I know this works.
That's the water that refills your health/hunger bar doesn't it?
We totally need a spa of some sort in the 1.6 map. Speaking of which... @Radiation, any news from the CreeperHost admins about what the heck happened to the server?
If I can get some spring water moved, I'm totally building a tub on top of my smeltery.

wooo I just caught the server's first butterfly! It's a Gatekeeper. If I or someone else can catch five duplicates we can combine them to make a Lepidopterologist's Chest.
Also I've memorized how to type Lepidopterology.
Also also someone come on with me. Breeding bees and catching butterflies by myself isn't as fun.

I think people are waiting for the 1.6 pack to go hardcore into it again. I know that's what I'm doing -- my little zen farm is just a way to relax after work.
But when that 1.6 pack hits, get ready. We're gonna rush all the things.

Understandable.
So I've been meaning to try out the Magic Farm pack. Does anyone have experience with it and do they have any starting tips?

And now we have both Industrious and Imperial Bees. Once the Imperial line stabilizes and I get us some Alvearies I can finally experiment with the Pollen Sieve and tree breeding.

A thought occurred to me, is there any particular reason FTB hasn't started including Harvestcraft by default in its super-packs? The vast number of different crops to collect and cultivate seems like a thing that would fit right in beside beekeeping and tree-breeding. Bonus points if they include a config that adds Thaumcraft aspects to the different crops.
And Pam is super-regular about updating the thing, from what I can see, so there wouldn't be any worries about it holding back updates like Redpower.
I read about force pipes, they sound amazing. I'm going to try out force engines + milk soon.
Going to try some oreberry farms as well with MFR harvesters.
Thanks for the tip on the sequoia I got it to grow in like 2 hours thanks to the watering can and perhaps some luck.
Tony Stark house just under the canopy ought to be interesting.
I'm having that issue where using a mouse button 4 or 5 causes the menu to open in minecraft. Playing on an FTB Unleashed server. How the hell do I fix this most annoying of problems?
Full screen fixes it, but that's not really an option. Full screen hurts to look at and I have other things running. I know i've fixed this shit before but hell if I can figure out how. It is awful.
I found out you could pump out liquids from a smeltery directly instead of using faucets. But ingot casts don't play well with pipes. So I came up with this.
Each tank has a router behind it feeding it a specific liquid metal and passing the rest to the next tank. They each have their own basin so if I end up with four ingots worth of liquid in a tank it won't stop up the whole operation.
I'm sure I could hide the basins if I had just a little more space or microblocks, but I like having a bunch of vats of liquid metal for a useful purpose.
Speaking of casting tables, I think they'll be handy for storing shared equipment/tools on the next server map. Have a row of them at the entrance to our mineshaft, each one holding an appropriately modified pickaxe for miners to borrow and then return to the table.
Sure you could use chests for the same purpose, but it just wouldn't look as cool.
Not to mention the aesthetic benefits if that bee museum ever happens.
Another "green/zen" power generation method I'm going to test out tonight: Use a Weather Collector (from MFR) to gather rainwater, allowing gravity to pull the water out and down into a Water Strainer (from Power Converters). The Strainer powers the Collector, with any excess power going to central energy storage.
Not sure whether the "gravity-fed" part will work like it does with tanks/Ender tanks, and it remains to be seen how much power will be generated anyway.
Sequoia base is coming along. Got the frame mostly built out under the canopy.
I'm having issue with the Solar boiler though. I've have the boiler and 2 mirrors pointing at it, but no steam ever comes out. I've seen it gobble water so I know it's thinking about steam. I've tried a cobble pipe out of the top and putting a regular tank on top of it but nothing ever comes out. Any advice here? Do I need another machine on top or wooden waterproof to extract? I saw a video and a guy just had the normal block tank sitting on top and extracted the steam from it when it filled.

You might need to extract it yeah, I would recommend using a liquiduct, they are a little bit tricky but extract without the need for an engine, it just needs to be set to extract and given a redstone signal.
Squid ink harvester to bioreactor (biofuel)
Cow milkin' to tanks (I don't know what to do for crushed ice).
all that going into force engines.
Decided on not using anything previously in my playthroughs. Also, holy cow does it spit out ink fast with just 1 squid, maybe I'll take a little video tonight.
The MFR biogenerators produce 16mj/t vs the 10mj/t(?) of the force generator, though either way the amount of ink produced by just three squid with a rancher is *insane*

I did, it just turned into a water bucket I think. Does it become hot springs water again if I dump it out?
Depending on the version you may need an Amethyst Bucket in order to place it as a source, though that may be in 1.6.
On that note: Bacta tanks.

It's not an extraction issue, faucets were not made to be connected to pipes. And that's the only way to get ingots from liquids far as I can tell.
Unless it works with buildcraft pipes but not liquiducts for some inane reason.

I'm not sure which is better for MJ power, I'm new to force engines.
But these are the others:

They also reference other machines in the link which is nice.

Which mean all the times I tried to "fix" the assembly table in the last map were wrong.
I thought blue lasers meant it was working at lowest speed/efficiency and red lasers meant best speed/efficiency.
But it turns out blue lasers means its working best, and red lasers mean its working like shit.
