Firewire to USB

My much loved ipod with the original firewire port in it (no dock) has recently been replaced with a new 2nd gen Nano. I'd love to continue using my power adapter from my old ipod for when I travel.

A bit of googling revealed that such a thing does not exist. Right here

Continuing my google-fu pretty much turned up the same thing. Lots of all-in-one cards, but no adapters.
Then I fell onto this

It seems to be just what I'm looking for, but if it worked, and did so without problems, why is this the only place I can find it?

Anyone have any experience, I don't feel like buying another power adapter for 30 or 40 bucks, but I really don't feel like replacing an ipod fried by a cheap converter.

"What are you dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the goddamn Batman!"

You can still use it for power. That's what I use my old FW wallplug and cable for. The iPod says "This won't work for connecting to a computer, you must use USB for that," but it doesn't care if it's just for electricity.

Or do you have a REALLY old iPod that just had the FW port, not the slot-port? In that case, yeah that little thing would work. All it does is convert a standard cable into the iPod adapter thing. In other words, it's for those people who don't feel like buying a new cable from Apple. I don't see why it wouldn't work, especially if i'ts just for charging up.
