The Sony conference's biggest accomplishment was telling me what games to preorder on Steam

While I'm firmly in Sony's corner this generation, their conference was easily the weakest of the 3. Microsoft's was the perfect barrage of games with an absolute bare minimum of filler, while Sony's was a trickle of interesting exclusives wrapped around the dullest and most awkward middle section of all time. Nintendo's conference was just. Perfect. A slew of games, all the best news, and even the filler was funny.
That said! LBP3 is fiiiine. I find Oddsock adorable, not creepy.
Pat's right about the jumping though. LBP has never excelled in the platforming department. With a focus on 4 different gameplay types in this one, I'd hope they fix Sackboy's bullshit jump too. :P
Oh brilliant

I'd definitely give Sony the win at E3. Microsoft was pretty much a non factor (surprisingly average considering the pummeling they took last year) and well, I have a hard time getting excited about anything Nintendo since the Wii U is pretty much a dead console.
There was a time when I would buy Nintendo consoles for just first party exclusives but thats long passed.
Don't have any of three consoles myself yet, I'm backing PC this gen but I'd like to get a PS4 down the line I think.
Yeah, it's different cause everyone else gives you enough upward momentum and tight enough descent arc to make platforming viable and not the worst part of the game. :P
Compare to Super Meat Boy with it's super tight controls; you're able to confidently plan your movements through a level because you have total control over Meat Boy's arc. I know how high he's gonna go, I know the path he'll follow, I'll know where he'll lose momentum, and I know where's gonna land. When Sackboy jumps, I have no confidence I will ever make a gap, no matter how insignificant, because he has no power behind him, and hardly any control over his descent.
Don't get me wrong, I like LBP! Sassy Stephen Fry is always enjoyable, and the level gimmicks are usually super fun, but it's core controls are the bargain basement of platformers.

Everything is suppose to a have a weight to it that makes Sackboy's interactions with it feel meaty.
Like jumping a gap, grabbing on to the edge of a pole and causing it to plummet down with you or snapping a string you swung for because he's too heavy. It wouldn't feel right if he was jumping around like Mario.
It's fine if people don't like it but when Pat says people should feel bad for enjoying it as someone who loved every minute of the first two, I can't agree. It's like he's mad at the game for not being something it was never meant to be.
As a physics based platformer, I've never had a problem with it.
Back on one of the podcasts a while ago, IIRC, Pat talked about how everything you know gets turned on its head on a second playthrough of Dark Souls. However, as far as I know, the only thing that changes on subsequent playthroughs is enemy placement and stats. I'm only just after Ornstein and Smough, but I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with Kaathe, but I don't think finding out about his existence gets any easier with a second playthrough.
So, does anyone remember Pat talking about this and/or knows what he was talking about specifically?

And there before the grace of Clispaeth goes one of the best LPs they've ever done.
The best thing is what Pat mentioned about the game's tone looking to recapture the glory of 90s NBA basketball, which I remember vividly as Machinegun Jr. The Olympic NBA 1992 Dream Team was so incredible it seemed to defy reality itself. EVERYONE in my family had B-Ball on the brain, it was good times.

I should be angry that they're trying to get me into yet another thing while I'm still going through all the other stuff they suggest but they have a great track record for awesomeness.

Yes.
Oh yes.
I really loved the first two games because they were so unashamedly different, colorful and physics based.
It's fun watching them geek out over Nintendo's conference
I agree with them re: whose conference was best
Their Hype Boners when the Dead Rising DLC trailer came out. LOL my god. I'm surprised they didn't just throw their wallets at the TVs.
