Does anyone know if the range and speed of + melee gun swipes are actually less than Zer0's default sword swipes? It kind of feels that way but I can't be sure.

    Because IF that's the case:

Reasons to use default sword for Zer0:

    NUMBER ONE: COOL ASS GINSUMATION
Reach (Matters a lot when so many enemies like to insta-knockback you)
    Speed (Same as above)

Reasons to use +melee guns for Zer0:

More damage, but then again melee guns are only a base melee attack bonus and not the wtfbbq damage bonus of Execute + Backstabs + whatever else I've heard. Maybe it's not enough damage to matter in TVHM and up unless you are doing inelegant butchery unstealthed instead of chain stealth backstab?
    Sad, anemic and unmanly animation.

Basic melee attacks fucking reek in TVHM.

I had a hell of a bad time doing "Bad Hair Day" on my Axton, even using guns to whittle the bullymongs down before trying to hatchet them.

I can't get Moxxi to give me another Bad Touch. I know it's one per playthrough, but does that mean only one per character creation or one per difficulty? Cause.. yeah. D:

Is Tiny Tina the final piece of DLC?

I tried throwing a grenade at me, and shooting midgets for help, but it didn't work. Quit and save worked, but now I'm far away.

if you can get someone to join your game (or make another character on another profile) they can donate the money and get one at the current sanctuary level

Hrm.. fair enough. But that means I'd have to find someone who hasn't gotten one already, right? Can they make a level 1 and I drop them weapons to sale?

you can just trade straight cash

but yeah, they can just be a level 1 newly made alt; the only thing that determines the gun's level is the host

Oh you can trade cash? Hrm ok. Now I just need to find someone who has BL2 on the PC. WHERE WOULD I FIND THEM.

I used a maliwan fire pistol all this morning while leveling a new Zer0. It was uncommon quality, had the accessory that causes it to fire double shots, and it murdered everything. I have never had a pistol that owned so hard before. It was literally a one-shot kill against normal mobs even without criting. I didn't switch to my sniper rifle unless i encountered a fire resistant enemy, it was that good even at longish range.

Thanks to the infinitely sexy Hatedinamerica I now also own BL1 GOTY on steam. :D So I can try the sniper guy, who I wouldn't dare try to play on console.
I think I'll remake my siren on pc too, but leave Brick on the console. It seems more appropriate to mash the controller for punchies.

So I'm getting the impression Krieg is probably worth it? It sounds like he has a playstyle completely different from anyone else.

also the only playstyle where I can give not a single fuck about cover or fighting carefully or anything.

So I was punching skags and this really big skag rocks up and starts doing lots of damage really quickly, even cutting through my regeneration. I wasn't able to kill it fast enough and I could feel myself slowly going down. The solution? More punching. I started hammering the button faster and he started punching faster. Turns out I'd been going easy on these fools the whole time.

Yeah, you're on the right track; Krieg has a playstyle that's totally unique, and its a blast. Unlike a lot of the other characters, the Psycho actually seems custom-built to take advantage of a lot of niche items in the game (a benefit of being created after launch, I suppose) -- roid shields, for example, which grant huge melee bonuses while your shielding's down, are particularly effective for Krieg because he has talents that increase the delay before his shields regenerate.

And then there's the Flame of the Firehawk, which continuously releases fire novas while your shields are down. If you're a Hellborn Psycho, that thing's your bread and butter. Elemental Empathy grants you 25% of the damage you deal with elemental effects as health returned. This means you're functionally invincible against most waves of enemies, because every time your shield bursts (like once every second) you get healed all the way to full.

Mastering the Psycho means understanding game mechanics like the Health Gate. For those of us who aren't familiar, basically you can never, ever be one-shotted in Borderlands 2, so long as you had over 50% of your health when the "fatal" blow hit. If you're at full HP, and you get clobbered for like 200k+ more damage than you have HP, you'll still just get dropped into critical health and you'll have a split second of invulnerability so you can get to cover.

Hellborn Krieg, then, can basically never die while his shield is pusling. Every second it will blast a huge area around him, lighting everyone on fire. This damage can heal a critical Krieg back to full, so when the next big hit comes, he can't be one-shotted.

Mania Kriegs can also Release the Beast when they're in this critical state, granting them a full heal, damage reduction and a few seconds of invulnerability frames.

Oh, yes. Lots and lots of melee damage.

Personally, I sacrificed about +300% melee damage (+6 to Silence the Voices) when I switched to the Legendary Psycho class mod. It granted bonuses to burn damage, along with some other stuff that synergized well with Hellborn and the Flame of the Firehawk in particular, and I've been really happy with that decision. I'm no longer one-shotting the majority of enemies in UVHM (I three-shot them with melee outside of Rampage, typically), but the survivability I gain from Elemental Empathy means so much more to me. Your mileage may vary -- I know that some Pyschos go pure Scream Sickle for the massive, ridiculous bonuses to melee, and do quite well.

(I'm still stacked in terms of melee bonuses, by the way: +200% from the Rapier, +30% from a relic, +40% from Empty the Rage, +250% from Silence the Voices, up to +150% from 20 stacks of Salt the Wound, etc -- so its not like I'm not still a goddamn monster in melee, even though I swapped out my Scream Sickle for a Legendary)

Yeah, but Mania's probably the best tree to go down first, since it gives you a good base to work with before you go and start making awesome with Hellborn or Bloodshed.

Yeah, I would definitely recommend that you go down Mania first. Once you've picked up Release the Beast, you should have enough experience under your belt to be able to figure out which other tree best supports your playstyle.

Wait if my punching can get elemental effects doesn't that mean that at some point I'm going to find an explosion artifact?

So I'm fighting my way up the foot of the keep in the Tiny Tina DLC, and I'm caught in the middle of a great battle between the forces of orcs and men. Krieg's wading hip-deep through the dead, cleaving people apart left and right. My screen is a goddamn mess of green numbers from my caustic SMG and orange numbers from my Flame of the Firehawk, which is BOOM BOOM BOOMING every second. My controller is about to shake out of my hands. The game itself slows down a little, and the 360 is chugging, because its trying to render all the explosions and screams. Even though the only thing I can see are multi-colored numbers, I can barely even make them out, because I keep slamming myself in the fucking face with my axe, so everything's all white and blurry.

My wife walks in and she's like, "... can you even tell what you're doing?"

"No, but I know that I'm winning."
