Stopped by on a whim on the way home and acquired a blue 2DS at a midnight launch. Quite a nice and fun little system! Now to get some games from the eShop, and start adding friends.

I still had eShop credit from the SMTIV+FEA promotion, so I just bought Pokemon X for $20. I'm only going to play this through a couple gyms, like every other Pokemon except Red, but whatever.

Considering the amount of DS games I had that never got completed, I'm trying so damn hard to only buy one game at a time. I already broke down and bought Rune Factory 4 when I stopped into EB to check out used games and saw it taunting me from the shelf.

I haven't played Pokemon since Red on my Gameboy Colour way back. I enjoyed it but was turned off by the utter lack of battle animations. Now that that issue has been fully addressed, I'm interested again.

My Google-fu is failing me at the moment. Does it have true online multiplayer battle? Or am I going to be stuck looking like 2/3 of the types of Pokemon players? You guess which two...

Yes is has Online battles. And in X/Y it is the most seamless thing ever. It takes absolutely no effort to get into a battle with friends or random people.

Well fuck. That's what I've always wanted from Pokemon (short of a full fledged MMO). I need to beat Fire Emblem ASAP. Maybe I'll wait till around Christmas so I can catch the wave of new players.

Does X/Y follow the same progression as the rest? Like, beat the first gym > get CUT > beat the next gym > get SURF, etc? I like the battle and collection aspect of Pokemon, but the unchanging overworld game always bored me to tears.

All the reviews I've read point to yes. The formula is pretty much unchanged.

At its core, the main 'story' path has always been very linear and that hasn't changed. However, HMs are more or less completely optional and there are so many things to do besides progressing through the story and beating gyms and such that you shouldn't get bored.

If my store is any indication, Pokemania is at an all-time high again. I work at Fred Meyer (a Target type of store) and we aren't exactly topping anyone's list for gaming. Well, we got bombarded by people looking for X and Y today. We sold out of our initial stock of 30+ versions of each game. That has only happened once before with a little indy game called Grand Theft Auto 5.

So if my store can push out 60 copies, I can only imagine what the big boys did. The sales numbers (not including downloads) are going to be huge mark my words.

Yeah. My sister (who's not much of a gamer and has never played a Pokemon game before in her life) actually went out and bought a 3DS XL and Pokemon. It's crazy.

Many of the original 150 are in this game, but not all.

Picked up Pokemon X and Y and 2 2DSs on Saturday. My wife is starting her first Pokemon journey! The 2DS is pretty awesome, too.

Thanks for the offer but I'm all set. I was actually on the route where they're found and getting ready to grind for one when I actually got one through wonder trade. Pretty sweet.

90% of my streetpasses are from ACNL, it's pretty popular. of course pokemon will soon take over but right now it's mostly animal crossing.

There's a monthly meetup in Austin for 3DS streetpasses. After ACNL released, it was dedicated to AC and visiting towns and whatnot. Not sure what'll happen with it now that Pokemon released.
