Whew, won 3 outta 4 so far in placement. 3 games Udyr jungle, 1 game Caitlyn marksperson (and my mid afk'd)...you could guess which one i lost...Sadly, 1 of the games we won was because of a rage quit. Why do they do that in ranked?! If you rage quit and make no attempt to reconnect, you should take the loss for the whole team. Not a massive hit to your MMR, but your teammates shouldn't get it counted against em. Though i see how that could be abused....Athene much?
I just wish i had the same confidence in bot lane as i do top/mid/jungle (especially jungle). No wonder my favorite bot laner is ashe, farm friendly and more passive.
Phoenix Udyr is so nice compared to tiger though for jungling...so fast on clears and while tiger can tear face early, i feel like you can really sacrifice damage and just build tank with phoenix. Oh and i learned counter jungling Zac at red lvl 2 is not easy. Turret protecting his blobs nooooooo!
Anyways, adrenaline a lot higher with ranked loading screen then normal loading screen...new level of fun!

It was basically 3v2 all game bottom lane (since Zac didn't have to worry about top or mid) and we still came out ahead. (cait had 7 kills, 205 CS vs 3 kills 188 CS for draven and i had 2 kills in lane too)
So I decided to get Zac with some IP after seeing TSM's ADC or Support just carry with him his 2nd time ever playing zac(his smurf in diamond. It wasn't turtle, not regi, he was mostly playing adc in solo, so think it was the support. ). Played a bot game. He is so much fun, and I love the plays he can make. Nobody picks or bans Zac at my elo, I think I may be able to do scary things once I get comfortable with him.
*EDIT* so I"m watching the stream I mentioned, and a guy named Bronzie da bear (something like that) who is a bronze player, shows up in their diamond game. He picks shaco, he only plays shaco, and is in bronze. He drops games to stay there or some shit. Well, he boxes red, fails to take it, and just DC's at level one. Was kind of hilarious. And was nice to see some bronze type shit at diamond.

If he regularly disconnected he wouldn't be matched with diamond players. People do have internet problems, and there's a lot of problems lately with Comcast and that Windows security update. It's kind of silly but there's nothing wrong with it, dodging his promo games doesn't hurt anyone. This other guy does that although he's only gold.

If thats really the case ask him about tuesday night (wed morning) he sat up boxes, in a game in diamond, where his adc even said not to focus on leagues ( the guy streaming and LOL King/d him) and how his boxes didn't kill red and he rage quit at level one.
I don't suppose I understand the appeal of AP Jax. All you really need on Jax is a botrk and a triforce and you basically become 2 champions. I know his leap, empower, and ult 3rd strike all have okay enough AP ratios, but are you building Nashor's in an AP build? Botrk and triforce are both so good on him because you use all the stats, and all the attack speed you get means more 3rd strike ult hits anyway, even if you don't have much AP(just the triforce) backing it up.
I guess it's just one of those less effective but fun builds to do since I'd imagine the burst would be really high if you primed the 3rd strike and then jumped on somebody.
So I saw on reddit the other day a guy made a post about how on I think it was the Taiwanese server, he said something about Garena, that the client uses metrics to offer players sales specific to the champs they like. His example was a screenshot showing the client offering him rocket girl Tristana for 50% off because he had been playing Tristana regularly.
I wonder if we'll get those kind of metrics driven sales here eventually. It's honestly a much more effective way to sell skins than to just rotate through putting different ones on sale.

That's pretty much it. It's by no means an optimal build, but since it's a smurf that's yet to reach 30 I se no reason to play 100% serious mode. You build a gunblade, an aspeed item, dcap and void staff and smash people for immense spikes that you heal off. Since it's melee I've found one giant's belt item to be nice. Though for true man-mode you skip the defensive item and get lichbane instead.
I'm playing ap Udyr too, since Dcap+FF+Abyssal on him means huge shields no one ever manages to punch through and then you phoenix for a quarter of their health.

The top teams though, WOW. A vlad with 2 items was doing things that normally would require 6 and he was on the losing team.

MVP Ozone, SKT T1 and CJ Entus Blaze, are considered the top 3.
KT Rolster B is just failing hard. The only reason they're considered good is because of Insec. They're not doing so well. Granted they made it into the play offs from the group stages. However, watching them play last night was sad. Also Insec wasn't playing, none of the english commentators knew why. I wouldn't doubt that another team picked him up.

Got stomped pretty hard as Nami and again as ez - I was doing OK against MF at first, even up on kills, but at a certain point she double-killed me and taric and it started to get away from us.
Third game today was super fun. I had first pick so grabbed Thresh. We won mainly because our Khazix went 15/0 (including a penta) but I feel like I landed some good hooks, got Ashe a couple of kills. The one thing I never remember to do as Thresh is to use the lantern for the shield in teamfights rather than just to save someone. I guess I need to work on that, but on the whole I'm pretty happy with how the first three games went.

Remember that once you get placed that where ever you end up; its not a measure of your actual skill, but a measure of where you are right now. After that use it as a benchmark for improving. You'll have a much better time in ranked if you don't care about where you are, but care about improving.

I was interested in this and how placement matches are aligned. I'm all solo que but i played 1 of 4 against a silver 1, 1 with 4 others all in placement matches, and 1 against two silver IIs. If I were to go on a real heater and win some games would they continue to increase the opponents I was playing against? Man i'd love to see the algorithms and databases they're using.

Played an ARAM last night as Nunu. Best part was the enemy team had killed all but me and one other teammate. They were all low, and I was sub-200hp. They were finishing off the other member so I jumped inside the bush between the two towers where they were all grouped up and promptly died...
Sigh, lost another ranked game last night (but...it's really unstressful because it's my third game--and loss--in Silver 5, so there's seriously nowhere to go but up). My MMR is clearly going down, but on the other hand I ended up midlaning Lux against a gold 5 Syndra who didn't crush me, but on the other hand also didn't let me get away with anything.
I'm starting to see a problem with duo-queuers--not that they're necessarily bad, but that they keep taking duo bot lane! And generally since they're at mismatched elos one of them is always first pick and takes adc (even when I call adc first). This is, of course, a problem, because it's my best role and the one I enjoy playing the most. Well, ok, Lux is fun too.

Also I'm learning Vayne in normals. Hahaha, I haven't fed this hard in a while. I think I went like 0/9 vs...ADC Thresh and Support Viktor (I was supported by the *always so helpful* support Nidalee). You might think this is a sign to not play Vayne, but I think it is a sign that I need to learn caution and also basic facts like the cooldown of Tumble is not zero seconds, so you can't just tumble in and back out, obviously, no matter how frantically you are mashing Q.

KT Roster B is a GREAT team and their current jungle is easily on par with Insec. Insec is currently learning top lane so he's chilling as a sub for now.

I don't think that at all. Their bot lane is one of the weaker ones in the scene, Score and Mafa just aren't on the same level as Piglet or Imp at all. I honestly think that a good EU team like Alternate or Gambit would beat them. I don't think that any of the EU teams stand a chance vs SKT1 or MVP Ozone.
Ryu has the top KDA of any mid, but if it wasn't for KaKAO and Insec I am not sure they'd be anywhere.
I just had to carry a Leblanc mid who had 77 CS at the end of a 39 minute game. No lie. He was super mad that I never gave him any blue buffs while he lost lane hard to Syndra. Luckily the enemy Nautilus was an idiot and kept trying to counter jungle me early while I just ganked and killed all his lanes. Like, who tries to counter jungle on Nautilus?

It's summer. You're playing with little kids. I'm literally totally avoiding ranked until mid august if I can help it. You're comparing Score to the top Marksmen players in Korea. Score is a Yellowpete/Chaox style player that plays really safe because everyone else on his team is capable of making strong plays. He had the highest KDA in the entire league during the Winter season and averaged something like 0-2 deaths per game.
KT B beat Gambit 4 months ago and beat WE 3 weeks ago. They were Top 8 in the Korean Spring split and were knocked out during playoffs by the to-be champion team. Right now they're the top team in their group, beating CJ Frost. I have never considered KT B a bottom Korean team and they've had strong performances ever since they formed.

You're right, I am being pretty harsh on them. They're not a bottom team, I just don't view them to be as strong the others. LGIM are a bottom team though :P. I admit defeat 2sang you are the KR knowledge over lord. I only recently started watching the OGN when I can.

It was basically 3v2 all game bottom lane (since Zac didn't have to worry about top or mid) and we still came out ahead. (cait had 7 kills, 205 CS vs 3 kills 188 CS for draven and i had 2 kills in lane too)
*EDIT* so I"m watching the stream I mentioned, and a guy named Bronzie da bear (something like that) who is a bronze player, shows up in their diamond game. He picks shaco, he only plays shaco, and is in bronze. He drops games to stay there or some shit. Well, he boxes red, fails to take it, and just DC's at level one. Was kind of hilarious. And was nice to see some bronze type shit at diamond.
I'm really curious how this works. He's in bronze. He really is, the streamer looked it up. Yet he shows up in diamond matches cause of his hidden MMR right? So, every non promo game he plays with diamond players? Or? I have to laugh at it, the idea, that someone does this. yet, its sad someone like this isn't banned.
edit I don't know the whole story, whether he dodges at champ select or afk's in game. But I did see him straight dc at level one which makes me think he does shit like this. I don't know how it works or what games he normally plays, nor what he gets matched up with.

He plays for fun and only fun. I can see him leaving a game if he thinks he isn't going to have any and just log onto another account.
He also lives in an area where there's only 1 ISP and it drops service for the entire area sporadically throughout the year (especially when it rains). Yay, Time Warner.

If thats really the case ask him about tuesday night (wed morning) he sat up boxes, in a game in diamond, where his adc even said not to focus on leagues ( the guy streaming and LOL King/d him) and how his boxes didn't kill red and he rage quit at level one.

I guess it's just one of those less effective but fun builds to do since I'd imagine the burst would be really high if you primed the 3rd strike and then jumped on somebody.
I wonder if we'll get those kind of metrics driven sales here eventually. It's honestly a much more effective way to sell skins than to just rotate through putting different ones on sale.
That's pretty much it. It's by no means an optimal build, but since it's a smurf that's yet to reach 30 I se no reason to play 100% serious mode. You build a gunblade, an aspeed item, dcap and void staff and smash people for immense spikes that you heal off. Since it's melee I've found one giant's belt item to be nice. Though for true man-mode you skip the defensive item and get lichbane instead.
I'm playing ap Udyr too, since Dcap+FF+Abyssal on him means huge shields no one ever manages to punch through and then you phoenix for a quarter of their health.
The top teams though, WOW. A vlad with 2 items was doing things that normally would require 6 and he was on the losing team.
Who are the top teams in OGN right now? I thought KT Rolster B was supposed to be really good.

KT Rolster B is just failing hard. The only reason they're considered good is because of Insec. They're not doing so well. Granted they made it into the play offs from the group stages. However, watching them play last night was sad. Also Insec wasn't playing, none of the english commentators knew why. I wouldn't doubt that another team picked him up.
I think rosters and sponsors are a lot more fluid in Korea than they are over here. That may be an entirely different set of dudes calling themselves KT B now.
Third game today was super fun. I had first pick so grabbed Thresh. We won mainly because our Khazix went 15/0 (including a penta) but I feel like I landed some good hooks, got Ashe a couple of kills. The one thing I never remember to do as Thresh is to use the lantern for the shield in teamfights rather than just to save someone. I guess I need to work on that, but on the whole I'm pretty happy with how the first three games went.

Remember that once you get placed that where ever you end up; its not a measure of your actual skill, but a measure of where you are right now. After that use it as a benchmark for improving. You'll have a much better time in ranked if you don't care about where you are, but care about improving.
I was interested in this and how placement matches are aligned. I'm all solo que but i played 1 of 4 against a silver 1, 1 with 4 others all in placement matches, and 1 against two silver IIs. If I were to go on a real heater and win some games would they continue to increase the opponents I was playing against? Man i'd love to see the algorithms and databases they're using.

I'm starting to see a problem with duo-queuers--not that they're necessarily bad, but that they keep taking duo bot lane! And generally since they're at mismatched elos one of them is always first pick and takes adc (even when I call adc first). This is, of course, a problem, because it's my best role and the one I enjoy playing the most. Well, ok, Lux is fun too.

Also I'm learning Vayne in normals. Hahaha, I haven't fed this hard in a while. I think I went like 0/9 vs...ADC Thresh and Support Viktor (I was supported by the *always so helpful* support Nidalee). You might think this is a sign to not play Vayne, but I think it is a sign that I need to learn caution and also basic facts like the cooldown of Tumble is not zero seconds, so you can't just tumble in and back out, obviously, no matter how frantically you are mashing Q.
This is true, but not just in Korea. I mean TPA as we knew it in S2 is all but gone and half their S2 championship roster was changed by season 3, afaik. I think bebe is the only one left.
Ninjas In Pajamas in EU also, only have 2 people left who qualified for the EU LCS, 2 got fired and 1 stepped down. But their replacements are excellent.
LGIM however, did not win any matches during group.
KT Roster B is a GREAT team and their current jungle is easily on par with Insec. Insec is currently learning top lane so he's chilling as a sub for now.

I don't think that at all. Their bot lane is one of the weaker ones in the scene, Score and Mafa just aren't on the same level as Piglet or Imp at all. I honestly think that a good EU team like Alternate or Gambit would beat them. I don't think that any of the EU teams stand a chance vs SKT1 or MVP Ozone.
Ryu has the top KDA of any mid, but if it wasn't for KaKAO and Insec I am not sure they'd be anywhere.

Let me tell you the story of the little fish who tried to place down over 10 wards at a time, and her team that kept refusing to watch the minimap and fed over 5 kills to this ezreal by just walking into brush and dying.
Somedays you can carry from support. Somedays you can try so hard and just can't do a god damn thing about it. I ended up with same amount of gold as our jungler and I was supporting damn it.
I haven't had a good ranked day of LoL in a week, and my MMR at this point is lower than it's been ALL season. I do not understand what I'm doing wrong. Straight up do not understand.

I think I've even gotten the inactivity notice since I abandoned ship, so I'll have to force a ranked game on my main account at 4am or something to hopefully get a half decent team.
You're comparing Score to the top Marksmen players in Korea. Score is a Yellowpete/Chaox style player that plays really safe because everyone else on his team is capable of making strong plays. He had the highest KDA in the entire league during the Winter season and averaged something like 0-2 deaths per game.
KT B beat Gambit 4 months ago and beat WE 3 weeks ago. They were Top 8 in the Korean Spring split and were knocked out during playoffs by the to-be champion team. Right now they're the top team in their group, beating CJ Frost. I have never considered KT B a bottom Korean team and they've had strong performances ever since they formed.

You're right, I am being pretty harsh on them. They're not a bottom team, I just don't view them to be as strong the others. LGIM are a bottom team though :P. I admit defeat 2sang you are the KR knowledge over lord. I only recently started watching the OGN when I can.
