Although to be fair, we did have one of our DPS go offspec heals because our priest's account got banned mid-raid. He called up support and they told him that his account got banned 3 weeks ago because they thought he was a chinese gold farmer. Because apparently chinese gold farmers do so much heroic raiding.
We're fine with the player models now because we've been used to them for so long, but if they're able to make that level of change to them (and hopefully more), I think you'd be surprised just how many people come rushing back. Hell, transmog alone got a bunch of people in my guild playing again who swore they'd never come back. Again, many didn't stay, and most who come back for the new models probably won't either. But at least for that first four to six months of the new expansion? I'd be extremely surprised if they didn't see a surge in numbers.
We'll see a surge in numbers for the first few months of the new expansion because that's what always happens with expansions.
It'd be nice to have armor graphics for cat, bear, moonkin at a minimum. They can add a glyph to not show armor graphics, but speaking as a bear tank I would like to be able to be an armored bear.
Also, could Blizzard please stop rationing fun on clickies. I like my fire cat staff buff, but the 2 hour cooldown feels pretty punitive.
Not that druids have any free glyph slots...
Really, the "make it a glyph option" stuff that Blizzard is doing is getting a bit out of control. With the 3 glyph limit and a lot of minor glyphs providing actual utility as opposed to purely cosmetic changes, a lot of classes can't reasonably accommodate these various cosmetic glyphs. I feel like Blizzard needs to reconsider (yet again) glyphs -- minor ones, at least -- in the next expansion.
They do need to increase the number of minor glyph slots for certain. It's kind if perverse that my most powerful glyph as a guardian druid is a minor glyph (reduced falling damage in all forms).
I was going to write a big post about the number of people still in game and how people are saying this or that about the decline of the game. The bottom line is I've never let my sub lapse since 2006 because there is always something for me to work on. I'm also having the most fun I've had in raiding in probably 4-5 years. A BIG part of that is the fun and amazing group / guild I raid with, but outside raid I'm always doing some sort of side project.
Now that my DK doesn't instantly die at 90, I realized I opened up 3 or 4 Legendaries I can now solo farm. Not to mention another character to work on mounts (Black Mammoth and Ashes atm; debating Alys but I have the Raven Lord already and don't ride it much).
Changing the subject slightly, got up to 7/12 after my Pinnacle LFR run on Saturday. The end is in sight, if ever so slightly. I'm predicting an average of 2-3 runestones a week, so I should have my cloak in 3 weeks.
Apparently phone support are a bunch of useless loons when it comes to account bans, so he has to wait for a ticket to go through and god knows how long that will take. We don't raid until Wednesday, so we got plenty of time.

Yeah, the glyph options for Guardians are horribly underwhelming. Off hand I couldn't actually tell you any of the ones I'm using. I think I just picked 2 or 3 back when MoP hit and haven't looked at them since.

I wish they'd just bake the full HP combat rez glyph into the spell. Who is not going to take that? (I mean, that raids anyways)

Yup. Thrilling choices, there. I hope there's some good glyphs coming for Guardians in 5.4.
Also, speaking of Guardians, I've started to gear mine up. I'm at a 470 ilvl now, got like 4 upgrades from MSV LFR last night (Helm, Shoulders, Bracers, Trinket). It's pretty fun, and my gear is solidifying to the point where I can actually start gemming/enchanting/reforging. The only thing I'm not really sure about is when to use Tooth and Claw. Cause it always seems like hitting Savage Defense or Frenzied Regen is a better choice. Hmm.

I just use Tooth and Claw (i.e., hit Maul) if the healers aren't having any issues keeping me up to increase DPS and get things dead (imperceptibly) faster.
More precisely, an optimal time to use T&C is if you're high on rage, your SD charges are on cooldown (or you're saving them for e.g., Malakk's Frigid Assault), and you're also high on health such that hitting Regen would cause a bunch of wasted overhealing.
It's also almost always worth using if you're currently off-tanking on a tank swap boss.

I suppose not to the other members of your raid at the time, but still, haha.
Some people have no shame, just had a succession of tanks on LFR Lei Shen that knew nothing about the fight and somehow thought they could muddle through on their own despite being told the fight relied on a number of certain mechanics.
First attempt ended after the the tanks decided to just tank the boss wherever and hope for the best, conduits be damned.
Second attempt went better after the tanks got a stern talking to but then we get into the second phase. The tanks are moving the boss around the room like in phase one, in fact they move him around the room exactly like in phase one which means trying to tank the boss on the charged part of the floor despite being yelled at.
During the third attempt they do it again, it is even the same square that is electrified. The only reason it isn't a wipe is because I taunt the boss back to a non-charged square and proceed to tank him at a conduit for the few seconds needed before we hit the second intermission.
That reminds me of the time I was in a PUG raid for Kara when were in the middle of fighting Prince and one of our healers got hacked. They disconnected then when they came back up they instantly used their hearthstone while in vent the guy was freaking out about not being able to log back in to his account and apologizing for probably causing a wipe (which did happen, but more due to us being distracted by him hearthing than lack of heals).
It's such a clusterfuck at the start. Like we have to get our golems, kill 1-2 of the tank's golems, get ours into the inactives, dodge anima font, don't get fucked over by matter swap, make sure anima ring is done and blaaaargh. It's a crap fight for the first minute. After that I'm sure it's much lovelier, but fuck that shit.
Better the first minute than the last. Nothing worse than an eight minute fight where the first seven is a total snoozefest followed by holyshitwhatjusthappened

Minor Glyphs are essentially Blizzard's poor implementation of City of Heroes letting you customize your powersets.
Minor Glyphs shouldn't have restrictions on how many a player can have, especially if it's just cosmetic / appearance stuff. There's some functional things though that are obvious must-takes. Which then takes away from slots to customize your character just a little more and fffffff.

I've solotanked Lei Shen a few times in LFR, dealing with random tanks is really frustrating on that encounter.
Killed Heroic Iron Qon in 3 attempts today. Totally unexpected, got 2 heroic bosses in one week. Now I'm just worried about repeating on Horridon in a reasonable timeframe. Though, we got 9 tier tokens total from Ji'kun and Iron Qon this week, 2 normal drops and 3 people rolled for one on Ji'kun and 4 people rolled for one on Iron Qon. Cash in all WoW RNG karma until end of time.
I am still bitter that I'm wearing a trinket from last tier and LFR though. Stupid ToT!

Happy: Tortos DEAD!
Happier: Council dropped my fucking gloves after it dropped it twice when I wasn't with my raid group. 4-piece, WOOOOOOO
Sad: We got to head #7 on Maegara 4 times, and wiped It's the wierdest damn thing: Rampages? Easy as shit. 3 Devo Auras, 2 Tranqs, 1 Healing Tide, 1 Tree Form, 1 Monk Healer doing whatever Monk Healers do. The problem is that we get to Head #6 and...someone dies. Someone eats green shit or something, I don't know but someone always dies. And then the tank dies and we wipe.

there has to be some or else the player would take them all and at that point may as well bake it into the class
All the cosmetic options should just be learned things you can toggle, independent of anything else. Either learn from special crafted or found items or from your class trainer, any of those would work.
idk why they haven't given hunters an Eyes of the Beast minor glyph yet.
of all the useless and/or redundant crap on a hunter's bars, they chose to get rid of the one coolest flavor thing they had
I don't know why they give Frost Mages 3 seperate glyphs for their Water Elementals (Size Up, Size Down, new model) and Hunters still only have Size Down.
I don't know why they give Frost Mages 3 seperate glyphs for their Water Elementals (Size Up, Size Down, new model) and Hunters still only have Size Down.
THANKS OBAMA.
I don't know why Frost Mages have to use a glyph slot to change the model of their pet when Hunters don't have to.
If I swap back to frost in 5.4, I hope to god that the new model removes the "blub blub blub" sound that the elemental makes right now. It's non-stop, I can't handle it. A while back I actually deleted the soundfile for the noise so it would stop, but it came back in 5.3 and I swapped to fire.
My brother takes his shaman with me on my run to finish out the first part of the epic quest for the sigils in the first lfr
And for three weeks straight I get the fist weapon he wants on a pitty roll

Kinda. You get about 1 minute of reprieve before interrupting jolt starts fucking people over.
Also, pro tip. Keep one anima golem alive for the Dark Animus to target empower golem with. A massive with several empower stacks will easily one shot your off tank, and you wan to delay that for as long as possible. Lost an entire night of progression because we didn't do that.

Not really weird. With 5-6 heads in the background, you've got frost and fire and mana wyrms up the wazoo. It's very easy for something to go wrong around the 5th or 6th head.
I don't think I have any characters where I'm legitimately conflicted about which minor glyphs to use. Usually there's like, one or two that I really want to use and then a bunch of things I don't really care about for the third. The problem with them as far as I'm concerned isn't that there aren't enough slots, it's that there aren't enough options as far as what to put in them.
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat

When you're struggling to find 3 glyphs you actually want to use, there's a problem. It's like that for a few classes, I think. DK and Monk for sure. As a DPS DK, I went with Anti Magic Shell, Dark Succor, and like... I don't even remember the third. But they're all fucking useless anyway. AMS is probably the only "useful" glyph, but even then, there's times when you don't want it.
They are adding a bunch of new glyphs in 5.4, hopefully that'll help a bit. It's something that I think will get ironed out for 6.0, at least.
They're missing a trick with the Shaman minor glyphs; how many wolf models are there and yet there is only one glyph that will change the appearance. Plus that wolf model seems to have a sizing problem that have never been sorted out in that it makes you bigger and hence makes it look like you are going alot slower.
I also don't understand why the appearance you could pick in Cata. (snow wolf?) is no longer an option in this expansion; what happened there.
I've got to assume that this is some technical thing, and that having a range of different skins for GW is a far more complicated task than I think it is. Furthermore, until just now when I had a checked on my character, I had completely forgotten that I'd picked one that allowed me to use Farsight inside.
In fact, it really does seem like alot of stuff for Shaman this expansion, has been half arsed.
All the cosmetic options should just be learned things you can toggle, independent of anything else. Either learn from special crafted or found items or from your class trainer, any of those would work.
Okay, but why?
The purpose of glyphs is to give some modicrum of control or "unique snowflake" to the players. Glyphs are essentially that toggle you want (can have up to 3, not all of mine use 3 minor glyphs as the stink for some classes).
Glyphs and the talent system this expansion are all about giving some element of choice to players. They may or may not take the carrot. They may go the min-max route, or if their playstyle goes against the min-max of the day, they have options for how they play their character to their fullest.
Not really weird. With 5-6 heads in the background, you've got frost and fire and mana wyrms up the wazoo. It's very easy for something to go wrong around the 5th or 6th head.
What order are you killing them, BTW?
It's normal mode. So just Green <-> Red.
When our raid finally killed that boss, it was just the healers being judicious about cooldowns. Also, if you have Shamans or other DPS that can "side-heal," make sure they are doing it constantly. Conductivity is amazing on that fight if the Shaman is able to drop HR strategically and people run the fuck into the blue circle of love.
Finally, people need to learn to move the fuck away from green puddles *and* pop a defensive. At 6th and 7th heads, healers need to focus on tanks because at that gear level it gets super dicey. DPS need to handle themselves (outside of cleanses).

So I finally got my other Warglaive last night! Yay!! I was so used to not getting shit that I didn't even notice at first. I was scrolling through his loot, went to the second page, then had to say "wait, was that orange text?" Then I calmly checked which one it was and opened my inventory to make sure it wasn't the same one I already had. And it wasn't, so yay! No more stupid Black Temple runs!
Wonder if I should start farming the bow on my hunter I assume Sunwell is soloable....
Apparently Ghostcrawler mentioned they will be reducing stats in the next expansion, more or less confirming the item squish he was talking about a while ago.
