it took me very little time to clear SoO LFR. Instead of grinding, run the ToT LFR, and make sure you buy the valor pieces. I've been 90 less than 2 weeks and have already cleared the 2 wings of LFR SoO open.
I'm gearing up a new lvl 90 rogue in timeless isle to get ilvl 496 gear to do SoO LFR and it's taking too long IMO. This grinding is weighing on me. People see that advertisement to do LFR SoO and it's gonna be a while until you can do it unless you had good gear from the previous patch.
Opening all the 30+ chests on the island tends to be a good first step, since it gets you one guaranteed burden and some possibles in addition to a hefty amount of armor tokens. Biggest problem is getting weapons since the ones you can buy for timeless coins are quite terrible but on the other hand the lower level lfrs are fast as hell these days since everyone is packing 496 armor.
The crafted 502s are pretty reasonable at this point
haven't used tomtom in forever and ever but I guess that'll work
they obey your loot spec selection, right? Or do you actually have to open them as whatever spec you want the loot for?
I can't totally guarantee it, but I'm pretty sure they do.
I vaguely recall hearing a few people talk about how they got loot for the wrong spec because they were in the spec they wanted but had a different loot spec selected.
To what expansion can I solo dungeons and raids as a 90 ilvl 530 Frost mage? Been bored with end game so doing other adventures.

You should be able to solo every pre-MoP dungeon (unless there is some gimmick in a Cata one I'm forgetting that would make it too hard). You can definitely solo WotLK raids, but I'm not sure if you could do much of anything in Cata raids.

I'm not a mage, but I don't think you'll be able to solo Valithria Dreamwalker in ICC unless you have a druid give you Symbiosis (which would raise questions about the soloing part) because you need to heal her up to full.
I think it's technically possible to solo heal Valithira using bandages and a huge stack of the healing buff, but it would be so much of a pain to do that it's probably better to just bring someone else or symbiosis.
Hate: The pally healer we recruited and were helping gear up server transferred about half an hour before raid. He seemed to really fit in with the guild, too.
Happy: One of our old time dps decided to pay us a visit, so we grabbed him and decided to 2 heal garrosh. Took some doing, but we finally got our kill!
Hope: Looks like one of our old healers is interested in coming back. If he's in, we just need 1 dps.
Eeee, got some nice upgrades tonight on my Prot Pally in Flex mode. I set my Loot Spec to Ret for most of the fights in there, which is a bit of a gamble, but it paid off. There's so much DPS gear that's itemized well for Prot Pallies. A lot of Haste/Mastery or Haste/Hit etc gear. I got a Shield, some Haste/Mast gloves, and a Hit/Mast belt. I also got a few unusable pieces of gear (things with Crit on them) but I suppose they'll be there for when I eventually build my Ret set out. Didn't get the Amp trinket off Thok though, sad about that considering how amazing it is.
I've enjoyed the crap out of timeless isle so far. The only downside is, in the process of bringing my monk up to date and collecting 496s for my baby warlock, I'm dead ass broke, which means I have to go backwards in fun and start doing religious dailies again to regenerate cash.
Is there some kind of weird diminishing returns on the island? Aside from my first day where I spammed the crap out of chests, it seemed like I got a couple of purple drops off rares right away then it tapered off to nothing. It's probably just random is random stuff.
Second question, how the heck do you get the final big chest on the west side the final ordos area? Is that even possible without the cloak or a dedicated group clearing into that courtyard?
Finally, curse the ingenious bastards who put chest gambling on the isle. I blew 20k coins just yesterday on those things and had so much damn fun. 2 burdens out of the deal, too, which I suspect was very lucky. Makes me want to go back and mindlessly farm more. Hopefully, my dps monk gear will be good enough to start taking some of the tougher elites more easily.

So Darkmoon Fair has started and hey, Moonfang is not ridiculously stupid. She spawns every hour, has individual loot, and I got the pet on the second kill. I was so sure it was going to be like Darkmoon Rabbit where the spawn time is ridiculous and only one person gets the pet or something.
The high priests standing next to the big chest don't aggro if you stand right at the edge of the chest range in the middle of the two of them. If you don't have stealth/invis then you may just need to corpse run your way into that courtyard, but you CAN open the chest without getting aggro on anything.
If you farm the crabs for a little while and get a Scutter's Shell you should have no problems even without stealth. Scutter's Shell is an item that reduces aggro radius for one hour.

I have bags full of Timeless gear, but neither of the two leather pieces that I actually want to use a Burden of Eternity on.
Yeah this is super annoying. I was looking really hard for a leather bracer item. I finally got bracers off Odros and then it dropped a few hours later -_- You should be able to buy any armor token with timeless coins.

Aaaand I'm pretty sure you can solo all of Naxx, at least at 10M level. Only issue would be Rasuvious, but supposedly that was fixed a little, to help soloers(?)
That's just off the top of my head. Also, you can solo the quest chain for the BT portal neck (I know you're a mage so FUUUUUUUU portals!).

Your first visit to the Izzle is like Christmas morning; then once the thrill wears off, you get into the pattern of circling around the zone, waiting for Rares to spawn, maybe farming mobs for the various daily/weekly quests. You can farm up the first 10,000 coins almost by accident and thus afford a one-hand weapon; 20,000 for the two-handers takes a bit more work but once you get into the Evermaw/Pirate Ship/Houlon cycle you're probably collecting 2,000 - 3,000 coins per hour.

At least through Naxx, just about everything will either consistently miss or just not do enough damage to be worth caring about.

Yeah, there is absolutely a diminishing returns system on the island, especially re: coin drops from the big payoff mobs like Ghost Ship/Evermaw/etc. Your first kill of the day on those will need you around 1500 coins apiece, but the next kill that day on that character will be far less, around 900 or so. And it diminishes from there to the point where you'll get next to nothing from that mob on that character until the next day.
Also, they definitely nerfed the holy hell out of the armor token drops. The first couple of days or so your bags would be literally choked with items; you'd get drops every 1-5 mobs, regardless of whether it was a rare, elite or RareElite+. Now you're lucky to get a single armor token in 30 minutes to an hour of mob kills. Definitely another example of the Blizzard Method of Hamfisted Balance™. Thankfully I ran all my characters through there the first few days before the nerfhammer hit.
As far as burdens go, it's very strange. On my main I've netted seven or eight of them, but my alts have maybe seen one extra on a drop apart from the guaranteed one from the Blazing Chest.
Overall I think the experiment of the Island has been a success, but I've already noticed a vastly diminished player presence there on a daily basis. The Celestial bosses are always up now that most people have gotten their cloaks. I'm very interested to see what, if anything, Blizz plans to do with the place if the numbers continue to drop (apart from the Coalesced Realms thing).

I've noticed that too, and it's made the elite dense areas with bullshit mobs like the Kilnmasters incredibly more dangerous than they were in the first couple weeks since you don't have the strength in numbers that those areas were clearly designed for.
I strongly think Blizzard needs to do a tuning pass for some of the mobs on the Isle as the numbers dwindle.

Ran the Vale of Eternal Sunshine in LFR on my two senior toons over the weekend. A little long but not bad. I really like the Sha of Pride fight, it puts an emphasis on situational awareness. My mission today is to find a way to squeeze out two more ILevel points on my Druid.
The LFR menu says that I have not completed the event that opens up the next stage of SOO, does anyone know what that would be ?
Hmmm, all you need to do to open up the second wing of SoO should be to clear all the fights in the first wing. Did you a join a group in progress and miss Immerseus?

I had a similar experience. You really can't use those things in randoms. You have to either quest on your own or get a guild group together.
