I have no idea what to think of that. It'd be a pretty dick move to drop PlayStation support. Maybe they'll just stick with preferential treatment for Xbox? I also wonder if they'll muck with the PC version.
Maybe we could get proper servers on the console with the power of the cloud.
Man every comment section on every website, the Xbox reputation is completely shot. Maybe time will turn it around. Though I get the impression a lot of people have negative sentiment towards both next gen consoles, they were expecting better graphics and immediate AAAexclusive blockbusters I think

I could be completely wrong, but Microsoft's been pretty generous (or at least not out-right assholish) about software rights for Sony. Skype is available on PS4 (or at least it's supposed to be). And of course, Silverlight applications like Netflix run on the PS4. At the same time, Sony hasn't denied MS the rights to use Blu-Ray as the disc medium on it either.
I could definitely see server stability, even on the PS4 version, going up a lot--Microsoft, with the Azure initiative, has been consistent about setting a high bar for server quality, even if no one actually gives a crap about that sort of thing (I do!), and extending that to other platforms, at least in theory if not in practice yet.

It's a problem, but I do think it's worth considering how much the internet hated Microsoft at the time of the original Xbox 360 proposal right up to the launch and past that.
People still wanted them, but there was definitely a strict hate-on for Microsoft consistently. To repeat, this is definitely a problem, but it's not a new one. People absolutely hated on the Xbox 360 when it was sold out. In the UK, the new Surface Pros sold out at launch, but if you went on the internet, you'd think Microsoft was selling magnesium slates full of smallpox. This is just how the internet works, as far as I can tell.

Well, considering it's Microsoft they might wanna stay away from Java. Do the recent versions of the run on it?

The minecraft thread might be a better place to discuss the nuance of this acquisition, while the Xbox Live thread is a good place to discuss things actually taking place on Xbox Live.
$2 billion, wow. I suppose that means the Sony console versions will drop and prob get no further updates. Assuming they don't get cancelled.
Why drop when you can simply profit from your enemies?
More importantly, I hope the next live update fixes whatever the previous one broke with goddamn FIRST PARTY headset. Not convinced its hardware, and I don't want to just go and buy another one for nothing. Maybe I can go to gamestop and have them plug it into one of their controllers... two birds, one stone and all that.

Heck, any product from Microsoft suffers from this. The Zune was ridiculed into oblivion. I still have mine and I love it. I've never had an iPod that I thought functioned as well as the Zune.

At its height, it was still the second best selling MP3/PMP device--by a pretty wide margin--worldwide.
No one gave Creative Zen (another good brand) this kind of shit. But Microsoft is Microsoft. *shrug*
The force of gravity attracts between mass. Apple will never reach 10% of the computer OS marketshare again. Microsoft will always be despised, regardless of what they put out.
Except for their joysticks, keyboards and mice. Everyone liked those.

Objectively godlike. :P
We should also remember that the original Xbox Live really cemented multiplayer gaming and online infrastructure on consoles as well

Well, it did give us a bunch of components that quickly became standard on a console online network.
Then again, so did the Xbox 360, which inspired an unprecedented amount of hate since the fall of Fascism.
I got Tales of Vesperia during a sale a few months ago and started playing it before stopping due to some life stuff getting in the way. I haven't played any of the other Tales games, but I was enjoying it. Lots of spoken dialogue, and the combat system is pretty actiony.
Played and enjoyed both. Slightly similar combat systems... if you've played Star Ocean then you would likely be familiar with Eternal Sonata's combat... and the game's soundtrack has a similar feel, aside from the Chopin.
Tales is one of those games where you would need a guide in order to get everything on the first run though. A bunch of easily missed stuff, including boss challenges.
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
Eternal Sonata looks nice and has a creative premise, but the gameplay and characters are dull. But I still ended up playing it twice through for the easy achievements, so I guess it did hold my attention.
Tales of Vesperia is fantastic and I can't recommend that game enough. If you've never played a Tales games it's the best place to start. Visually it's gorgeous, the characters are enjoyable with a ton of personality, and the combat is fun and full of action.

Don't be put off by the fact that the demo throws you in about 30 seconds before one of the hardest mandatory boss fights in the game.
The Forza Horizon 2 demo has completely sold me on the game. It's a good thing EA Access granted me NFS: Rivals for free, because I'd rather play the demo of Horizon than the fullness of Rivals ever again.

Yeah, I've already got it preloaded. I'm a little annoyed that that it will unlock three days later in Europe than for US pre-loaders, but I can wait, the demo has plenty to do in it.
The Amazing Spider-man 1 - 13.59$ (~1087msp) (was 40$)
The Amazing Spider-man 2 - 20$ (1600msp) (was 50$)
The Orange Box - 5$ (400msp) (was 20$)
Game with gold bits, (Expires at the end of the month.)
Halo: Reach (was 25$)
Hard Corps: Uprising (was 1543¥) Japanese gold account required. (Halo is also available in JPN as well)
(download/buy it ingame after playing the trial to get bonus credit)

ended up doing the whole digital pre-load for Horizon 2, hope it works well. Anybody try it with destiny? did things go smoothly?
I did it with Destiny (also with Horizon 2). Went perfectly smoothly, though I can only speak for launch morning as I didn't stay up for the (3 AM?) earliest possible playable moment.
Destiny's launch went perfectly smooth for me too. game was pre-loaded and available to play pretty much dead on midnight. i don't imagine Forza having any major issues.

ya I think I actually already have horizon fully preloaded, 30 gigs or so (humurously the day 1 pre-order DLC is apparently also already downloaded!)

Hmm. Chariot looks pretty interesting. I never finished Bad Company 2's campaign, got stuck on that bit where you have to defend a crashed satellite, sold the disc.
I might try finishing it now.
Yeah, that section is annoying. You have to kill every enemy that has a rocket launcher asap.
Hanging out here makes me wanna get an XB1.

Bad Company 2 actually toned down the humour (though there's still a few gems)
Everyone still wants a Bad Company 3! The original Bad Company was a riot.

Both are on sale for $5 each this week, and my wife has mentioned wanting to try a new RPG lately.
HERE is the full list of sales.

Chariot on Xbox One (no idea)
and
Battlefield: Bad Company + Darksiders 2 for the 360.
This is pretty awesome.
EDIT: Isn't Chariot a new release? They must be desperate for that MS money.
EDIT 2: It's Bad Company 2!
