I loved BC2 MP...But BF4 64-player Conquest is the absolute tits. I had a hard time going back to BC2 after time with BF3, I can't imagine how goofy it would feel now. Only thing is I want a few maps from BC2 to make an appearance again at some point.

I always found it interesting that BC1's advertising focused on the guys of Bravo Company, but BC2's advertising was fully on Red Beret Multiplayer dude.
I would love for BC3 to be a more "arcade" version of BF4, like basically the same game just far more focussed on simplified (or streamlined and focussed) classes, so you could tell at a glance what people were and what they were capable of. BF4 is great for me but my more casual friends were already overwhelmed by BF3, so 4 was just a write-off for them.
Oh it's Bad Company 2?
Hm. It's still a good game, but yeah by that point they were trying to compete with Call of Duty rather than expand on the best bits of BC1, and so the humour was pared down and I didn't enjoy playing it as much.
Still grab it, but then get BC1 because it's better.
Defense Grid 2 is out, apparently! It's the sequel to one of my favorite games on the 360, but I can't justify buying it right now. If it's anything like every other digital game purchase I've made on the One, it will be free with Gold in a few months.

Speaking of things you can enjoy on the PC and should totally buy right now on any Xbox, I stayed up until 5:30 AM after an unwisely quaffed cup of coffee the other night and "beat" Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, which is awesomely good.
As someone who hasn't played any of the Diablo-alikes since Diablo 2 came out, I have to say... some of the set pieces in Acts 2 and 3 are truly spectacular. Really freaking sweet game, if you like stuff that's fun.

I hope everyone without an Xbox One is remembering to add its Games With Gold to their account anyway (just do it through the site) for if/when you do ultimately get one. I'm pretty happy to be accumulating a library of games for when I cave and buy one.

Damnit, I could have sworn I tried doing this when the first Xbox One GWG went live and it didn't work. Guess I was wrong. Oh well, who knows when I'll even get an Xbox One.

Well, doesn't hurt to start now. Super Time Force is probably the best thing you've missed out on, but I'd hardly say many gems have gone by.

Yeah...and really, I can't complain too much. It's not like I find myself playing these free games I get from GWG or Playstation Plus all that much. But they're there in case I ever feel like it!

Guacamelee was an early freebie that is fantastic.
yeah Guacamelee and Super Time Force have been the big ones so far. i also enjoyed Max and the Curse of Brotherhood, but wouldn't rate it as highly as those other two. hopefully we'll start to see retail titles being added to the programme in the new year. maybe Ryse will get some love once people can try it for free.
well its one of the launch titles getting a GOTY edition soon so i'd expect it to be high on the list of games to be added to the GwG scheme. like i said, maybe in the new year, though MS have surprised me with more aggressive schedules in the past.

so is there any one planning on picking up an Xbox One this month and is not signed up to the Xbox Rewards programme? if so, then you're in luck because MS will be giving you $25* if you're referred within the next 2 weeks. the person that refers you will also get $25.
so how about we see if we can't share the love? surely we can match a couple of people already in the programme with others about to upgrade.
here's the brief from the rewards site:
Experience Xbox One with friends, earn 25,000 Rewards Credits.
Invite your friends to experience the next generation of games and entertainment, and you'll both earn 25,000 Rewards Credits! Simply refer your friends below; if they pick up an Xbox One console between October 7 and October 26, you'll both be eligible for your Reward!* But be sure they hurry – only the first friend to complete this offer is eligible!
*$25 is the figure they give as an equivalent of 25,000 credits, it may vary based on currency and any other factor that will minimize cost on their part.
I dunno where else to post this, so I'll ask it here:
I set up a spare Xbox 360 I had in the living room for my father to use for Netflix and other miscellaneous app usage. The cable box remote only can be configured to operate one other device other than the TV, and right now it's set up to work with a combo DVD/VCR that's also connected to the television, so I'd have to get a new remote to work with all the devices.
As an alternative, I was thinking of finding an inexpensive Kinect somewhere (Looks like I can nab one from Gamestop for $25/35 used) so he can gesture and voice command his way through the Xbox dashboard and not have to deal with a controller. How well does this work? I have absolutely no experience with Kinect.

I wonder if there is gonna be any particular features of interest to XB1 owners. PC gamers might wanna open a thread to discuss it.

You could get the Xbox Media remote for like $10.

Using a second remote is annoying but it's probably going to work best unless he would just use the controller.
Skip the Kinect unless you want your dad to hate you.
