Yeah, I think I will turn that headache right off, there isnt really any benefit and last time the Preview program fucked up I couldnt play Fallout 4 for a week.
I'm definitely not impressed with Microsofts constant updates that dont seem like they do anything (patch notes please?), I still cant select english as language without choosing an english country, which is fucking ridiculous and another example of creating problems where there were none before, the Danish translation is still awful, I bet they would punish me if I selected another country to be able to use english, due to countries different VAT.
The "delete games with no achievements" function that the X360 had, still isnt in either... 2-3 years from launch? Tired of waiting for fixes for shit that should have been in working order on day 1.

There is an expectation that things will go wrong and that you'll report them going wrong (hence the whole system).

Last time it went wrong for me it disabled Fallout 4 for a week because my Xbox couldnt do something it needed to do with my F4 saves? Dozens of reports, took a week.

Actually, this makes me wonder about my experience versus others. I've been in the preview program since it started on Xbox One (I was in it for the Xbox 360 out of a sort of morbid curiosity, so that's why). So I occasionally get glitch updates--never of the missing friends list variety (not yet anyway), but sometimes Kinect sign-in doesn't work or my shortcuts are missing (both annoying and usually require a restart to work). I've never had a game be rendered unplayable (I don't have much to report, except for sporadic crashes to the home screen).
But, and here's the weird thing: I can't exactly recall the last time I turned on the console and saw an update screen. It was probably several months ago back when I got the preview for the NXE update (about 2 or 3 months before it hit in November so around...September? August?). Since then, I've never seen a console update screen (though maybe 4 or 5 times, I've turned on my console and gotten the green bootup screen rather than the usual resume from sleep startup).
I've had my set to run upgrades in power-saving mode since the console came out. And I can tell when games are updating (because they install to my external 7200 RPM HDD, which is audible), but not anything installing to the internal drive. I'm sort of wondering why power-saver is fuck-awesome for me, and bad for others. Maybe internet connection?
Then again, I have my own problems--like the audio player app becoming convinced every single disc I put in there is a audio CD, including games, until I deleted it. That was annoying, even if I don't play music CDs on that console anyway. It's not as bad as when my console refused to play almost any old DVDs before that got fixed, but again, still annoying.

So long as you reported that you jammed a screwdriver into the console, yes. But then you couldn't use the reporting system.
Unless I'm totally misunderstanding the point of the program (I don't think I am) It's not supposed to be worth something good for you. It's good for Microsoft because you're reporting problems to them.
A lot of people see it, incorrectly, as a way to get early access to updates--in fact, I bet most people in the program enrolled for that reason (maybe MS needs to be better at hammering through the message "THIS IS NOT FOR YOU GO AWAY.") Actually, we're volunteering to be guinea pigs for increasingly elaborate functionality in the testing phases and report everything that can go horrible wrong and try and help improve it. If you've been having problems for as long as you've described, and they're pissing you off--which I have to assume, since they're way, way worse than what I've had to deal with--I don't see why you didn't un-enroll immediately. Unless you're capability to un-enroll is broken, which would suck.

Because you cant leave a Preview in progress, you can petition to leave afterwards, which I have.
How long have you been in the program? I know people who've left after previous preview sessions, "Once is enough," etc.. Or have you only been in it for the most recent session?
It's not something to go into lightly, hence the warnings, "You may need to totally reset your console."--which is not a bad idea necessarily. Maybe Microsoft needs to hammer that point in further, "SERIOUSLY, THESE UPDATES WILL BREAK YOUR CONSOLE. WHY ARE YOU EVEN CONSIDERING THIS? THIS IS THE CONSOLE EQUIVALENT OF DRIVING WITH YOUR TEETH."
I mean, they already have a bunch of warning messages anyway, but I think they're not getting through for a large chunk of the participants.
Honestly, I don't think that's a bad idea. Reportedly we're dealing with the law of averages, where even the large majority of program participants aren't going to get any sort of major, potentially lawsuit-causing issues (assuming we didn't already sign off our ability to sue, which we probably did). I'm one of that group personally. But there is a actual possibility shit will go wrong (after all, MS is sort of banking on it, and then you actually reporting the issue to them), and if that possibility is enough, don't enroll. Get the updates with the rest of the general population.
If you've already made that decision, and regret it--consider a full console reset (granted, that's easy for me to say--I have 80+ games installed on an external hard drive, so a full reset is just the OS and updates). I'm pretty sure you'll still be in the preview program, but you'll get a clean sweep and a chance to try over (and, if you're unlucky, experience all new bugs).
The last night update was in October I think, that one took a minute. I am in preview program and haven't had many issues. Sometimes my console will hardlock but not frequently. The improvements to party chat and friends list are a godsend. I like getting the smaller updates, like seeing people's personal color around their chat circle in a party.

My retort was in response to categorizing the fact that anything you do will get complaints as "people like to complain" as if they were all one entity that changes its whim to whatever allows them to get mad on the Internet; rather than a bunch of people with different opinions. I don't think the validity of the opinions is particularly germane to the point I was making; which might have been more succinctly put as the adage "you can't please everyone."
However, if I were to indulge, I assume we could all agree that "more people should be able to play the game" is a good, valid opinion and "lack of complete exclusives on the Xbox negatively affects its appearence to consumers" is an icky, bad, poopoo invalid opinion, right? In which case, I would think that care should be taken to not lump people from catagory A in with catagory B.
Additionally, to further indulge for a moment, the problem with "Not all opinions are valid" is that who is going to be arbitrator in which ones are and are not valid? As a note, if you're in the preview program and aren't downloading every single 500 MB patch then you'll have to download a 3.4 GB patch to catch up since their upgrade system only understands how to do the smaller upgrade size from the current build and if you have any other build they have to do a full install instead.

I just recently bought this on the PC and have been far too busy to turn my console on for anything more than a couple of minutes of Just Cause, but if I can earn some more free time I'll for sure be buying this.

First I was a monster truck with a cake, but then I was a derby racer with a crown. Now, obviously, I'm a cool muscle car with a viking hat. And the soccer ball goes zoom.
I grabbed it today, had some fun zooming around getting used to the controls. I watched my brother play this for months so I am ready to League it up. Had a great moment where I scored, but before the ball hit the goal I exploded from an enemy car hitting me.
I forget who, but they had them on for ~100 bucks before xmas for some reason.
I can second (third?) the quality of this drive with my One.
