Hi all,
I live here:
.
Well, that's a lie. No-one lives in the Houses of Parliament. They're not that kind of house. I live in a crappy little bedsit in Shepherd's Bush.
Anyway, I moved to London from Manchester about 4 years ago to chase stardom, and despite it being STUPID expensive to live here, I love it.
Inspired by the NJ and EuroPAX threads, I thought I'd give the London dwellers among us a little home on the forum. Let's talk about cool places & things to do, share stories of the Big Smoke, and commune and be cool. Thinking of coming here? Ask us questions!
What I'd really like is to get a regular London-based forumer meet-up/hang-out going, but let's not run before we can walk, eh?
So, let us begin the Official(?) List of Cool Places to go In London:
Wanna Drink? Wanna eat Garlic? I know a place:
Garlic and Shots, Soho
Soho is no longer the seedy psuedo red-light district it once was, and is home to some great little nightspots. My personal favourite is this gem: A BUNCH of different flavoured vodkas, and a menu in which EVERYTHING contains garlic. You can ask for extra garlic, but never less. Also has an awesome downstairs bar, which looks like a dungeon and plays all metal, All the time!
The best movie house in Britain:
The Prince Charles Cinema, Leicester Square
I love this place. Movie marathons, cult screenings, director Q&As... very reasonable pricing, especially considering many London cinemas, particularly the flagship ones in Leicester Square are upwards of £15 a ticket. They have monthly screenings of The Room, they still project on film when possible, they have groovy regular events like The Good Bad Movie Club and Movie Mathematics ( for example: The Raid + Robocop = Dredd), and the clincher:
My friend and I enjoyed a madness filled evening there last weekend with this genius collection:
Go there. Watch movies. It's amazing
There are load of places, but I want to open the floor to more suggestions. We shall build a list to end all lists, and the world shall bask in the glory of our glorious capital.
...Okay, I wish I could go back to Salford, but London's pretty great, right?
I got this
Tumblr and I don't know how to use it.
