Guess who got a rather large bonus at work today for basically doing absolutely nothing? This guy!
Be prepared to have your collective faces stuffed with gifts this summer dale.
I wish being a stay at home dad could earn you bonuses.
Like...one morning when I get my son up he just says "Dad, today, instead of having a meltdown every time you want to actually do something, here's a few thousand dollars!"
Well...that'd actually probably just freak me the fuck out because he just turned one and my 4 year old doesn't even speak that well.
But still!
EDIT: Actually, a bonus would just be him not having a meltdown every time I wanted to do something. That would feel like a few thousand bucks. :P

Oh, and Luchaire, don't feel bad that you didn't know there was a barber / surgeon in-game; I checked them out, and my assessment was that the latter, especially, cost a **** of a lot of money. If you haven't started yet, you probably are better off just rerolling (and rerolling, and rerolling...) until you get it "right".
Oh, I knew there was one.
I just won't use one. Well, I'd use one that changes hair/makeup. But I'd never use one that changes actual features. Not in an MMO and not in a singleplayer game either. Runs counter to my RP nature.
But I have a character face now! And after spending all day at work playing with various translators and doing some research and whatnot, I also now have a name!
Progress!
I am suprised "Progress!" wasn't taken.
I may have to spend less this sale than I wanted to as I have to buy a new phone, on the upside, New phone!
Anyone else having problems launching steam games after the update? I think it's only affecting a small amount of users, but guess who got lucky!
Last night I tried to play something, told me it was downloading updates, nothing downloaded. I opened and closed Steam a few times and finally it updated. Today I tried to play Borderlands 2, it told me it had to do 24 of those first time install things. Running the Steam Cleaner now, I have none of those things on my computer, so I have no idea what the hell it did 24 times.

I don't know how you do it.
I can't speak for any other stay at home parents, but for me, it's mostly spending 3/4 of my day thinking "God I wish I could just take a nap" and then when the kids are in bed, the last thing I want to do is go to sleep.
What I'm saying is: perpetual (partially self inflicted) sleep deprivation :P
1. Exit a game and go to the store page to notice that Half Life 2 was on midweek madness.
2. Lose connection to steam but not the store.
3. The store gives a minute later, saying "The steam store is experiencing heavy loads right now"
This leads me to believe that the combined power of the Summer Dale and Half Life anything have destroyed the steam wavelength. The universe is soon to collapse, and when it is rebuilt by the lord Gaben he will send unto us the Half Life 3 -75% off on the Summer Dale.

Looking at the list of individual games and playtime, some of their estimates are pretty wonky.

See, I take naps every weekend when I'm watching my daughter, as long as she's sleeping. I would do it every day during the day if I could. But she sucks at napping as of recently.
But I do game til 1 or 2 at night. I swear I get a second wind of LETS RELAX. which is a weird thing to say.
This will be my first all out participation dale. I've been squandering dollars here and there and slowly building up my steam bucks anticipating this. Can't wait to start with the gifting and buying of games I won't even get to look at until Christmas time!
Hey, grain of salt, but this post on Neogaf is making on the rounds on /v/ right now.
Steam just stealth rooted everyone. No, seriously. Remember Blizzard's "Warden" anti-cheat measures? Well, Steam has something like that now. Hooks into core Windows DLLs and if you try to use a trainer in a game, it doesn't matter if you're online or offline, it'll crash out. In fact, it doesn't even matter if it's a Steam game. I put most of my GoG collection into the Steam launcher because, what the hell, why not - but go to use a trainer or edit the memory, and it's game over.
This is a level of invasive, malware-like activity that concerns me greatly. I sometimes cheat in single player games. I don't give half a shit about achievements, I just like to enjoy the game on my terms. They're single-player, why not? Apparently because Valve says so, is why not.
Huge grain of salt, his "source" is awful at best, but you never know.

That was you?
We heard about it at the watercooler at lunch.
I wouldn't really call giving the boss a handjob every morning "absolutely nothing" though. But if it makes you feel better, congrats!

Pffffft, it was just another Tuesday for me.
I know WoW is not a Steam game, but this quote seems appropriate:
Blakelow says: A-B-C. A-always, B-be, C-crafting. Always be crafting. Always be crafting!
I apparently own Ep.2 but not Ep.1
:rotate:
"Wait, if you own Ep 1 but not Ep 2, and if I own Ep 2 but not Ep 1..." "Shut up! Dammit, I need to come up with a solution. Think, Fry, think!"
Whaaaat
I don't know how you do it.

CorriganX on Steam and just about everywhere else.
Yeah, I'm 'connected' but I'm not connected.
Steam is loading the store page and such, but it says I'm not connected to play any games or see my friends list/community.
And it was working perfectly fine prior to the forced update.

But now I'm out of excuses for having never played HL2. Curses! Foiled!

It's possible you were targeted by multiple people, almost simultaneously. Not that I'd know anything about that.

Well that made the ninja gifting it to @Wooden Spoon even better. I got to gift the two biggest targets almost at the same time!
