My relationship with Civ 5 is rather strange. I got the base game from my brother back when it came with the X-com pre-orders, bought all the DLC during the Christmas sale, and I am seriously considering buying Brave New World at the moment.
Yet I've only played the game for like a hour or two, and it just gave me an urge to play Alpha Centauri again.

1500 new posts. You guys
@Xenogear_0001 hit me in the middle of the night with the gift of PA:OTRSPOD4. Thank you so much! Definitely planned to get it at some point, but now that point is moot.

Thing about the Civ V DLC. The 2 exp packs give you new modes and actual gameplay. The rest are all characters or scenarios. (and the wonder pack). So if you want more game, by Brave New World or Gods and Kings.. those are the most bang for your buck. Gods and Kings made the game SOOO much better with the reintroduction of religion.
I have never bought any DLC for Civ V, but with so many people raving about it I guess I might have to rectify that at some point.
I'm also currently downloading Borderlands 2, which I was gifted a few days ago. Is the season pass worth the investment (I have ZERO experience of any borderlands game)?
Wait on the DLC for BL2 until you've played the game awhile. The DLC is all at the end of at least 1 playthrough, so you have some time. The game will come up as a daily again at some point, so you can decide by then.
There's nothing more excitingterrifying than waking up to a little green envelope in your Steam GUI.
FTFY.
I love it when I click on the green envelope because if I didn't get an email about it, it means it's a friend request and one can never have too many Steam friends.
Are there any fun top down arcade racers similar to Super Off-Road or RC Pro AM? I used to love those...

That is very dependent of your enjoyment of the game. I would have said yes to Borderlands 1 but to me Borderlands 2 was a severe disappointment... Though I only have the Mechromancer DLC.

Not 10 minutes after I posted this, I get hit with another gift by @handgimp, for IL-2 Cliffs of Dover. Have mercy people
Carcass,
Somebody bothered for this last night while i was drunk at the bar, but i couldn't figure out how to steam. Today I woke up with it. Totes not an STD, I swear

Supposedly Brave New world includes the gameplay parts (i.e. the actual mechanical improvements, not civs or wonders or the like) of Gods and Kings, so if you had to choose one it should probably be Brave New World.
Tri-Optimum reminds you that there are only one-hundred-sixty-three shopping days until Christmas. Just 1 extra work cycle twice a week will give you the spending money you need to make this holiday a very special one.
Many thanks to @Spoit for Hoard! I know literally nothing about this game, apart from Spoit saying it's got dragons doing dragony things, so it's gotta be good!
I might buy Don't Starve, I do want to try this game out. Although I might wait a few days to see it drop more than 40%.
It probably won't. It's one of the daily sales, and it's rare that those ever get any lower during a Steam sale. At best it would probably get repeated in a few days, either as a flash sale or a community choice sale.
Huh...I woke up this morning and I see the magical green envelope. I click on it and it shows me a couple gifts! Tomb Raider and Call of Juarez Gunslinger! Woot I said to myself. Then I go to click accept and find out who the classy gent who sent me these lovely gifts and after a screen flicker, they are gone. Not in my inventory and no notifications in my e-mail. It was not meant to be
What are the odds that some newer but more nichier thinking man's games, like Night of the Rabbit or The Swapper, will be going on flash or daily deals? Not sure how popular those games were or how well they sold, but I'd like to see them go on heavier sale.
Also these damn Pendulo games need to stop being so damn expensive.

@HeirTransparent gifted me Cart Life! Now I have to go stand out on the street corner hawking papers and trading cards to get a little money together to get Heir something.
So far the only thing I've bought is Hotline Miami...
Is anyone else feeling a bit underwhelmed by this sale? No Publisher bundles, hardly anything 80%+ off...I mean, it's a good sale and I'm planning on sacrificing many dollars to the Newell, but it's not like it used to be...
I think the Steam Sale got too commercial, man.
If you look at the Steam Sale info DB thing someone post to earlier, there's a ton of games for 80-90% off. Just not many of the big ones.
It's also just the first day of a sale that is typically 2 weeks. That's some crazy pessimism.
A huge Thank you to @Edgler Vess for giving me my very first Steam gift, which was none other than Bastion.
I look forward to turning back time. I wish I could do the same to keep up with this thread
Man, I get so jealous when people get to experience Bastion again for the first time. It was so unexpectedly good for me. I hope you love it!
Saw someone in the thread without Bastion (and someone who had a giveaway just 2 days ago, a give away I happened to win) and thought.....what? how? fixed. Then I go to sleep and things happen.
Civ V gets cards, and BNW goes on sale which angers me a bit because I bought it pre-release. Surprised it has a discount at all. Oh well, I already have about 12 hours in BNW, guess the cost of those 12 hours is about 10 dollars. Guess ill spend the entire day looking at steam and playing Civ V, because that has never happened before.....

How is BNW? It seems overall everyone has positive things to say about it but I'm trying to get as much data as I can.
Holy crap - I'm sitting here, kind of bored at work, thinking about how much I can't wait for 1pm to hit and then my phone is blinking. I check my phone and of course it's more completely over the top generosity.
Thanks @Dire Jay ([E]vilGenius) for Antichamber. I've heard it's crazy, I can't wait to try it for myself!
Edit: And when I hit the website to accept my gift...BLAM! A friend request. Awesome morning.

That's what I used to think. Then I woke up to a little green envelope that said "unread chat message"... so I clicked it. It turns out that you can giftbomb steam keys by chat even when a person is offline and the key will just sit there, waiting...

I am still getting my mind around it. It adds some really great systems (The new way cultural victories are handled is...different, but once you see how it works, the new system is much better). AI feels improved, and the new Civs are great. Overall I would say that If you liked the things Gods and Kings did with the base game, you'll like the things BNW does to the whole package, I am not disappointed so far.

You said in chat you didn't have it yet. That is exactly the reason it was in my inventory.
Anyone want to trade for a Bioshock, Dead Island, Kerbal, or Tomb Raider?
I found a gift of FTL this morning.

I voted for GTA4, because I just love sandbox games. But I hope Mirror's Edge wins.

I've got 3 Kerbals, I'll trade you for a Reus

The RNG must hate me though, I've got 4 Skyrim cards, and 2 other ones.

My older games like Skyrim and Civ V are getting cards.
NEEEEEWWWWWWWWWEELLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!
I figured I could start some gifting with something small. I've heard it's lots of fun, open to the general PA group until ~3:30 this afternoon.
EDIT - There we go...
Already bought all the DLC for Borderlands 2 and impulse bought Endless Space with its expansion pack, and I can hear Civ V calling to me.
Taunting me.
It sees my weaknesses, it can feel my lack of self control.
I hate you. (Well, not really
I hate you too (<3)

Swift indeed! Thanks for Toki Tori 2!

I'm staying strong so far but I'll probably pick up some pinball tables on the last day if nothing else grabs my attention
