Anyone else listen to This is Only a Test still? They were talking on last week's podcast about a video of a drone with a GoPro shooting images of sunrises and such. Any idea where this is? I've searched YouTube and Vimeo with not much luck (not like "drone" and "gopro" doesn't give a ton of links back or anything).
The only Tested things I listen to still are the DadCasts, because there's no Jamie and Adam and it reminds me most of the good old days.
So Beyond: Two Souls looks like a solid rental by all accounts, Alex's included. Time to keep an eye on the local Redbox.
Wonder if they'll be a QL of Beyond? I'd be very interested to see that, but there's not one listed coming soon, none of the guys sound that interested, and Alex doing a QL alone would be just kind of sad.

It's funny, Quick Looks have basically become my go-to video game "reviews."
if this is how you folks make art it's fucking depressing

Me too. Between the Bombcast, QL's, and the various video stuff Rev3Games does I don't even bother reading reviews anymore. It's just easier to watch a video of someone playing whatever game because that'll tell me a lot better if said game is something I'd like.
Am I the only one that has started ignoring the Patrick and Alex stuff since Patrick moved out?
I never really had a problem with Patrick until he got away from the rest of the bunch.
As far as a QL of Beyond: Two Souls goes, pick it up in a Redbox. You can finish in one long day, or a weekend.
I think Alex was a little harsh in his judgement of it, but it has the same problem that Heavy Rain did in that once I had played it through, I really wasn't interested in playing it again to make different choices.

I don't really consider that a problem. I can count on one hand the number of games I've played through more than once. I just get no enjoyment out of replaying a game. Once is always enough for me.

I really like Bombin' in the Morning with Scoops and the Wolf. It's a little baby bombcast twice a week.

Patrick is the best and the Bombin in the AM show is like having two extra mini-bombcasts a week.

Jamie and Adam don't go on This is Only a Test. At least, I don't think they have... maybe Adam has once, but not usually. There's a separate podcast with him.
I mostly don't like it when Gary isn't there, but I feel like he just makes the podcast work.
I finally got through all the Hot Spot/Giant Bomb "This Year" podcast compilations. Clued me in on a few in-jokes and should make future viewing awesome.
Super sad to hear Ryan talk about his plans for the future though. Death is just so weird. You have a person that is real, who thinks and speaks and has a personality and does stuff that impacts the world around them.. and then they're just gone.
Rorie and Navarro are your technical guys. They seem to be good at pinning down the details. The rest of the journalists except for Patrick have been a little floaty lately. Considering the circumstances, it is somewhat acceptable.

worth reading is great, and patrick does good articles generally. i could only barely handle him in QLs and the bombcast when he had the rest of the dudes to ameliorate his presence. his solo video stuff and the stuff with alex has precisely no appeal to me at all.
He's a lot more willing to give more obscure and indy stuff a chance than a lot of them, to the point where he seeks out stuff that challenge his usual preferences.
I admire him a lot, both as a journalist and as a content personality.

I think the Ryan-Jeff-Vinny-Brad-Patrick bombcast was perfect. Everyone played off each other and balanced each other so well. And when things fell flat there was always a good joke about Brad somewhere in there.
The morning show is all right but hosting is not Patrick's strength and Alex can be really grating. Both are much better writers, and probably the best reviewers GB has. I'd like to see more content from Alex.
He's been throwing around the idea of something called "Blight Club", a video series on shitty games
While being a little hipster-ish, at least Patrick's obscure games schtick isn't quite as played out.
I don't really understand why people say this. I went to law school and spend five days a week in New York City, and Patrick ain't like any hipster I've met.

I guess he's hipster to someone like me who lives out in the middle of nowhere in an area of the country dominated by the Baptist church and agriculture. :P
I'll echo the thought that Patrick as part of a five man crew was excellent. He was articulate and funny enough to keep up with the others and contribute to the conversation.
I actually like Bombin' the AM; though they do tend to repeat topics a lot when paired with the Bombcast. If anything, it's good background fodder for when I play Marvel Heroes
Of course, Ryan will never be replaced, but there are plenty of people out there that can work in that capacity. It just depends if they want to fold that element back in or not.

Screw Vinny, I didn't have breakfast this morning.

Jeff said it's Tuesday somewhere.
Also, he apparently stayed super late at work yesterday for some reason. I don't try to understand the Gerstmann.

They should really just go whole hog and add in some prank phone calls and various other "Morning Zoo" tropes.

And so is NiGHTs
I think the only game he's famously down on that I disagree with him on is RDR
I assume this means you hate Super Metroid too?

I'm grateful for what it did, was to set up a genre that I love and let other games like Castlevania and Batman (and Metroid Prime) get it right
