I'll echo the thought that Patrick as part of a five man crew was excellent. He was articulate and funny enough to keep up with the others and contribute to the conversation.
I actually like Bombin' the AM; though they do tend to repeat topics a lot when paired with the Bombcast. If anything, it's good background fodder for when I play Marvel Heroes
I remember a few weeks ago they had Jeff on the morning show and I thought "man, he's gonna repeat a lot of this for the bombcast recording later today" (this was on a Monday)
What is 8-4? The description on the GB page isn't great.
Basically the Japan-cast. Mark Macdonald and some other folks who live and work in Japan as localizers for games talk about what's going on in gaming in Japan. I've listened to a few and it's okay, but seeing as how my interest in Japanese games is next to zero I don't listen that often.
Patrick was the fucking worst back when he appeared on 1UP Yours and The 1UP Show. Too many shitty memes and trying way too hard to be Luke Smith. It was intolerable. It's crazy how much he's matured and gotten better since then, to the point where he's comfortably my favourite member of the gaming media.
Speaking of Patrick, that last game he covered on this weeks Worth Playing was amazing. I had to download it, though I haven't bothered installing it yet.
I dunno; I absolutely hate playing MOBAs, but one of the reasons I tune into the Bombcast is to hear about games I don't intend intend to play. DOTA talk doesn't bug me any more than hearing about Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed, or flight sims, or driving games. I tune into the podcast to hear them talk about games. If that game happens to be DOTA, then so be it.

Me too, to a degree. But hour and hours of talk about the same game over and over? That gets olllllld. Maybe it doesn't if you play Dota, but I think most people probably got all the Dota they need in one session.
if this is how you folks make art it's fucking depressing
Does anyone happen to remember around the time they were talking about The Last Of Us on the Bombcast? I only recently finished it and would love to hear their opinions on it.

I know Vinny really dug it and he said he connected with the story (presumably as a father), and while I'm working my way up to the most recent Bombcast, Drew just mentioned some time in October that he finally finished it. Brad kept saying he'd try to play some during his (at the time impending) vacation, and Jeff said he wanted to get back to it for due diligence regarding GOTY stuff but that he didn't want to have to start it over again to remember how to play.
IIRC, they all sort of lost the urge to play it when Ryan died because they didn't feel like being sad in a game in addition to real life.

I actually find it really irritating when they talk about games I'm familiar with because the Bombcrew isn't very good with getting the details right.

haha yea. sometimes its pretty rough listening to them spout total nonsense. also if its a a story based game theyll get into spoilery territory pretty often so i end up skipping through that stuff too.
yea the last of us talk was basically vinny talking about it for a second and then everyone saying "thats not happening" in the wake of ryan passing
The GB page for The Last of Us highlights the 6-25-13 edition of the Bombcast as relevant, so try there? That would have been right before Patrick left and he reviewed it.

If you want a video game podcast that doesn't get anything right, you listen to the CAGcast. Those guys totally know they don't have a clue, though.
So I just finished the This Year Ryan Davis Memorial podcast, so that offically means I'm out of old giant bomb material unless I want to start listening to the old podcasts individually (which I don't; though I may listen to the game of the year and E3 stuff)
He also showed up on random other podcasts at times. Wasn't there an infamous one where he spent the entire show shitting on the hosts for making up shit?

I don't think Jeff's ever finished a Naughty Dog game, so I doubt he'll start now.

I think he liked Uncharted 2 and he REVIEWED Golden Abyss

He hasn't finished Uncharted 2 and Sony Bend developed Golden Abyss.
As much as my opinions on games are eerily similar to Jeff's occasionally I have to remind myself that this is also a man that thought RDR wasn't very good.
Hmm, I know he talked a lot of guff about the blue guys in Uncharted 2. I just figured he finished it eventually, especially when he was so okay with giving it GOTY over Batman.
And Naughty Dog assisted with Golden Abyss. Let's not split hairs
I seriously wonder what GB will be like 10 or 20 years down the road. It will be funny if they start getting grumpy and they rotate them out with younger people.

It's pretty good, even if you (like me) don't care about those games, as long as you don't mind getting a non-US perspective.

Man, I gave 8-4 a shot, but I can only take so much earnest discussion of Monster Hunter.

It's somehow even more tedious than Brad's seemingly endless discussion of Dota on the Bombcast.
To the extent that I don't know when or if he has actually gotten back into it

Yeah, I know. Thank god. But it was like a half hour of every Bombcast for a month or so there.

There's no way it's better than Brothers, though.
