On the Brad hate - I like him because I can relate. His boring, monotone way he talks about games is like me when I'm sober, and he's bad at games, like me.
What gets grating is when he gets jaded. Getting jaded about the game industry is somewhat silly. Brad and Jeff tend to go negative allot and it can get annoying sometimes. I also get sick of that simulator crap they drag in on Friday's.
Also, they need to lay off the alcohol.

All this talk about Brad makes me think back to the first time I ever heard him speak, which was as a guest on the 1up Yours podcast (April 4th, 2008). I had a completely different picture of him in my head as a result of hearing him first, probably best described as "bulky trucker dude". When I finally saw him on video after he joined Giant Bomb a few months later, I was pretty surprised.
I like Patrick for the most part. My only problem with him is he tends to lose objectivity when social issues are involved. Which wouldn't be a huge deal if he wasn't also trying to come across as some legit journalist.
One thing I loved about Patrick on the Bombcast was that he always carried Brad. The other guys let him get away with being vague too much.
Patrick is probably the most value added member of the GB crew. He has different interests and insights, is the most driven to explore new things outside of the scope of mainstream gaming, has a different knowledge base.
He is best in more serious discussions, he doesn't really shine in quicklooks because he has too much to tell and sometimes loses either 'let's have some fun' or just 'show the game' which makes for unengaging content at times.
Rorie's in the chat, talking about the general tone of the chat and site lately. Says he feels it's gotten really bad lately due to the new consoles.
The console war BS perpetuated by teenage boys is in full effect. As is generally true around a console release, those of questionable intelligence and maturity turn which console you bought in to a religious decision, complete with zealotry and hatred of "the other".

Honestly, I had forgotten how bad console wars and fanboyism can get until I started reading Kotaku comments and NeoGAF and "taking them seriously"; that is, believing that they mean what they write. It's fucking INSANE.
I mean, they're drawing completely absurd, Hurricane Katrina, "black people looting, white people finding"-esque conspiracies from absolutely nothing. Games journos are being accused on both sides of "[sic] being bias" because they told people to buy both systems/neither system. I saw a guy today get yelled at because he wrote that both systems are viable next gen systems and someone was upset he didn't tear the PS4 down more, clearly demonstrating "that he is bias".

This stuff is even dumber this go around than ever before, since both consoles are almost identical machines that both have (at least, depending on your personal opinion) pretty good controllers and overall both seem to work fine.
Ain't like N64 vs PS1 level differences here. But human nature is one of stupid x vs y stuff for any kind of expensive purchase such that it's difficult to purchase the other and they are relatively mutually exclusive. Ford vs Chevy, Nikon vs Canon, Sega vs Nintendo, Android vs iOS, Mac vs PC. The list goes on, there have been studies about it but I'm not sure where I could find them now.
People want to feel good about their opinions, and the best way to feel good about a choice is if other people would make the same one with you. It also helps to take some of the sting out of not getting the other console's exclusive if you can't justify 2 consoles. Sunset Overdrive and LocoCycle both look like stuff I would play, but I prefer the Sony exclusive franchises, and I can't justify both consoles anymore.

Screw console wars, go Wii U. That's how I solved it this generation.
One thing that I think is unique to this go around is we've never had a system that was so maligned out of the gate. Sure there was "599 US DOLLARS" last generation, but generally that was people taking goofy moments and decisions and shitting on them. With the One, people saw a corporation trying to push a new paradigm that wasn't necassarily in the consumer's best interest, and the message from the company served to inflame, rather than douse. This current console war was really baptised in that reveal and I think that even though we're past 95% of the stupidity of it, the "war" is tainted by it still.
On Sony's side, you had the typical fanboys, who were basically given a (at the time) "perfect" console with none of the huge flaws of the other side; you also have a lot of existing Xbox fanboys feeling betrayed for it. Now that MS has righted the ship, they lost the easy ammo, so they're have less rhetoric to fall back on.
Meanwhile on MS's side, you have the MS fanboys who choose to stick with the console, so they need to compensate for the bad showing by either playing down the unpopular features (usually but talking louder) or doubling down on them; which was made worse when MS pulled several 180's.
Basically, console wars are stupid, but the Xbox reveal and subsequent backpedaling made this one EXTRA stupid.
Now I need to watch the archive of this stream. So much GB content I need to watch.

Sounds like I am missing out, although I don't think this is the first time they've done Bombception. Or maybe they did it on a Whiskey Media Happy Hour once...

Piñata Tycoon from Double Helix would be hilarious.

Now I don't think it will win a whole lot of GoTY awards, but I think Brad can (and will) get it in GiantBomb's top 10.

Also, the last vinny hosted episode was so gold.

It's $40 on all current gen consoles right now (except 3DS).
....and $0.99 on the mobile App stores.
All that profit.

It could use a PC release. I would say it has more fans there.
