Looks like Jeff got the best loot, because of course he did.
Don't let anyone tell you Bungie didn't know exactly what they're doing, giving the best gun in the game to the guy who is probably not going to play ever again. Either it gets 5 people to keep playing so they can get it too, or it gets that one person to keep playing.
Yup. Atheon's Epilogue is one of, if not the best Auto Rifles in the game. The only guy who got one is the guy who doesn't like the game.
Brad, the guy who likes it way more? Got materials to upgrade his gear.
Yeah, everyone has separate loot. In the raid, you can get engrams as drops, but something will drop for everyone 4 times: First oracle fight before the Templar, killing the Templar, first portal fight before Atheon, and killing Atheon. It can be anything from Ascendant materials to upgrade your gear, to the raid legendary weapons/armors, to exotic (unique) weapons/armors.
I was really surprised at the strongly negative reaction the raid got the whole time from the chat. It has a lot of what people were complaining about: more complicated mechanics, variety, good loot...yet everyone seemed to hate it. Was it the length? The amount of time it took them was way longer than most people, the PA clan usually finishes it in like 2 hours or less.

I mean, you can hate on lots of stuff after 6 hours of it. Also, from what I can gather, the Vault of Glass is some sort of time travel loop mission. It's literally the same shit over and over.
I didn't see any good loot for them until the end, and that was just whatever Jeff got. It was all upgrade materials or equipment on par with/not as good as the stuff they had.

There are four loot drops, along with chests scattered throughout. I've gotten three of the raid-exclusive legendaries and two exotics from running the raid three times.

Apparently this thread is an exception, but when most people ask for variety forced stealth sequences and first-person platforming (with timed disappearing platforms no less) are not what they're looking for.
What do you guys think of an escort mission where if you fail to protect your charge you don't restart a checkpoint but they're just dead forever (obviously it would have to be an interesting character for it to work)? Better or worse? I'm sure some game has done this at some point but I can't think of any right now?

I think Dragon's Dogma did this, but they also had the option of just picking up the guy you're escorting and running to the checkpoint / throwing them off a cliff.
To be fair, this was only a problem in the first game. By the second game, survivors could handle themselves to the point where you were practically "deputizing" them when you handed them a weapon. Or if you just ran straight through an area, they'd have no problems weaving through it either.
On the subject of the raid, I'd love to see Bungie straight-up send a white (Chatterwhite) tracksuit to Jeff as a way of commemorating his victory and tenacity.

I eventually got good enough and planned enough in Dead Rising 1 that I could rescue every survivor AND complete all the story missions in a single run.
Triple-booked chainsaws and a megabuster were essential, I won't lie.

lots of folks really enjoy hating on destiny
"I'm trying literally nothing new and can't figure out how to beat the boss!"
"I take zero seconds to learn the pattern of the disappearing platforms, then always use all my jetpack fuel which prevents me from dropping on the platforms in time, this sucks!"
"We have been following the exact same path in this stealth section 50 times now with numerous other paths to try, omg what a terribad stealth section, so frustrating!"
Holy fuck, people playing Destiny are either A. the literal worst at videogames or B. clinging to any reason they can find to hate on the game.
And I don't even think Destiny is that great, it looks fairly average.

I managed to do that too. And I also somehow did the 7-day survivor achievement, although unfortunately my internet cut out for a day while I was doing it and as a result there is no date associated with the achievement. That's slightly annoying.

Most video games follow a convention of "lighted areas draw players attention, so we can use those to direct the player to where they need to go." Most players will only follow this subconsciously; I had this explicitly pointed out by Day9 on his Last of Us livestream though, which has occasionally been super useful on maze-like areas in games (Assassin's Creed tombs for example).
With as much experience playing games as the giant bomb crew have I'm not surprised they expected this to be the case here - in contrast, the exit to the stealth sequence seemed next to invisible. Watching the VOD it really looked like a dead end dark corner until Brad saw that tiny diamond light flash.

Not exactly the point I was making. They ran past it a number of times, and every single one of those times they went the same path. If they would've tried out new paths they would've easily found the exit eventually simply going by statistics.
Also, the exit path may have been dark but it was marked by glowing sparks present ONLY there. Maybe there were audio cues too, but if there were I couldn't hear them over the voice chat.
But it didn't look like there was even a path there. I'll look over it again but it appeared to be a cave entrance that looked like it was just dark rock wall.

I'd still like to give it a try someday, but Bungie will have to acknowledge the PC first.

That framerate and that letterboxing would drive me insane
I have yet to have a corpse grab me...so far.
Yeah, but the fact it's a Shinji Mikami game is enough for me to pick it up at some point.
PC version? Bethesda released debug commands for doing away with the letterbox, unlocking the framerate, plus noclip and god mode (remember those?)

Is it secretly an Elder Scrolls game?
