Yeah, but that's no reason to buy a PS4 if you don't have one already like me. The game is coming out on PS3 also so there's zero reason for me to give two shits about next-gen consoles right now. I'm just kinda getting at there being no real reason to care about next gen stuff if fightans is all you play on consoles about unless you really, really, really have a boner for Killer Instinct.

I wasn't trying to guess what game and console combinations you were interested in, I was just answering "Other than KI what else is hitting Next Gen?"

Right right, I'm mostly just getting at there being kinda fuck all for the new consoles in response to you being hesitant on biting on a Hit Box. Even if a bunch of stuff does come out, I'm sure there will be a drop-in PCB replacement and barring that, if you're handy with a soldering iron you can do what a lot of other guys did for the last gen and just solder the buttons right to the inputs on the controller board in order to make it compatible. If that's outside what you're capable of then the stick modding community will probably be figuring it out in a hurry and offering to do the conversion for money.
If money is tight though then yeah, you should probably just wait but if you got the cash to burn then learning to use sooner is better than later. Of course, you can always just load up Skullgirls on PC and play on a keyboard for the same effect.

Money's not really tight, but every now and then I look at the rooms of my house just filled with video game stuff and go "jesus christ". It's true though, there will probably be at least one way to keep the Hit Box relevant for the future. It's been a while since I soldered anything but I could probably manage it again. Going Hit Box really does seem like the rational thing to do given the amount of typing I do.
Damn it, I think you talked me back into it.

So my friend and I have been maining Makoto and Dudley in SF4 respectively, and I guess last night we both got th ebug up our butts to load up Third Strike.
I never played third strike before, outside of just screwing around with the characters many many years ago. Maaaaan that game can be fun. I parried his EX Hayate and felt pretty good. We've been facing each other for so long, it was cool to have an ability that rewarded reading his mind/playstyle so definitively.
It was also really cool that I could go straight from 4 to 3rd strike Duds and not feel totally lost.

So I'm futzing with my Marvel team again. I set out to learn/play Zero May Cry, but frankly? I hate playing Zero. I don't like the way his combos feel, and I don't like having to hold L to keep buster charged.
I love Dante and Vergil though, and have gotten pretty good at both....so I am still searching for a main for that team. I've tried Wolverine/Dante/Vergil like PR Rog and enjoyed it, but I haven't settled on it yet.
Who else is considered a good main to use with Vergil/Dante assists?
Some people like Strider as the third for team Sparda since Varja keeps them locked to the ground where the brothers can do work. Plus worst case scenario you have another X-Factor 3 comeback character.
Doom works as well, but Doom is a fit for pretty much any team.
I'm not saying she's all that great, but you could always theme team it with Trish.

I'll look at Strider tonight. I've been interested in him, but haven't played him yet.
I'm still working on Wolverine/Dante/Vergil right now, and becoming more comfortable with it.

@TOGSolid you mentioned that you have quite a bit of experience when it comes to playing on a keyboard. My fightpad died a while back and I'm not quite in a situation to pick up a replacement, or a stick any time soon. Is it difficult to make a transition to keyboard play?
What would be the best keyboard layout for somebody new to it? I'm picturing something like A W R G for directions, and U I O, J K L for the 6 buttons, but I have never practiced this at all so I am absolutely open to suggestions here.
I've only really played Rose to any serious degree and she doesn't exactly have many seriously complicated movements so I'm not sure what would work out best. Probably won't be playing charge characters or anybody with a 360 motion.

I can't honestly answer the first part because I started on keyboard back in my "broke ass young adult playing Street Fighter on an emulator" days. I never played fighters on a stick or pad until years later and by that time I was so used to my keyboard setup that I felt like a one armed cripple trying to use those things. The precision, speed, and downright dirty input tricks you learn make pad and stick feel like shit. It'll definitely take some practice but I suspect it's easier to learn complex moves and combos via keys or buttons than the imprecise nature of pads or sticks. There is a large amount of slop built into fighting game inputs for a reason, the fun part of keyboards and hit boxes is being able to abuse that.
I have a proper Hitbox these days but back in the day I used a layout similar to the Hitbox's button layout. They have a video all about using a keyboard on their Youtube page that pretty much mirrors what I used. I'm on my phone right now so linking it is kind of a pain but it's an easy vid to find.
Charge characters are actually the keyboard/Hitbox players secret weapon because we can buffer inputs in ways that no one else can. As you get more comfortable you'll get used to holding keys instead of constantly doing fresh inputs which will allow you to shortcut a lot of things and buffer charges very easily. Guile's Flash Kick Ultra, for instance, is hilariously easy to do for us and we can shove his sonic boom's and flash kicks in a lot more spots.
As I mentioned before, fighting games have an inherent amount of slop built into their inputs. Since key/button players have such precise inputs we can thoroughly abuse that slop which is how we can do 360s fairly easily and in a short time than stick and pad players. You don't have to actually do a full 360 rotation. In some games the slop is so generous you only need to do a 180 and then press up. I will admit 720s can be kind of a hooker though, but they are totally doable.
Hitbox's Youtube page has a lot of good tutorials on how to do a lot of basic inputs like DPs, SRKs, and so on that will help a lot.

Could you imagine Daisuke doing the soundtrack for a Marvel game?

yeah that list was actually pretty weak. Some random final fight bad guy? Retsu? Seriously no one cares about retsu.

This is bad and you should feel bad for saying it.
Bad.
Who wants to play KI when the lobbies hit?
On a related note, I think I may be the most hardcore casual (or casual hardcore?) fighting game fan in the world.
