edit: ah, the B key, of course! Obvious, really.
Also, I ran into some strange issues with the game today (STEAM version btw). I had it running on my laptop (i7, GTX970) and while everything was fine when running on JUST the laptop, i tried to plug it up via HDMI to an external monitor and speaker setup. When i did that however, the game seriously drops frames, like, probably 30s-40s, and we got NO audio from SF5 through the HDMI. I'm pretty sure its the game on this one, since other games worked fine, audio and all.
But if anyone else happens to be able to replicate a similar setup, i'd like to know your results.
Just an fyi on the stick thing (pc), street fighter 5 showed zero signs of detecting my qanba stick at all until I installed the key mapping program, and now everything works fine. Just something to think about before dropping a dime on any new usb cards.

Does that stick have an xbox 360 mode? if so you should try it in that, as it seemed to let me use some ps2 sticks with xbox360 adapters on the game just fine.
Ok question...since my fight pad has decided not to work sf5 and the OT hasn't been updated in forever....is there like a baby's first Fight Stick recommendation? I really REALLY don't want to pay over a $100 for one. Is there like a solid sub 50$ option for PC?
I bought a Hori Fighting Stick Mini 4 on Amazon for ~$48. It has good reviews, so I figure it's a cheapish solution to see if I wanna throw down more money on a big boy stick down the line. Amazon FAQ says it works on PC as well. Might be worth checking out for you too.
Yeah I think this is what I'm going to do as well. It's a cheap stick, and I really don't know if I'm willing to drop $150-$200 for a stick. I think I'll get that one for starters and see if I like it, and eventually get a better one.
So Casual matches only get you 50 FP for a win, 0 for a loss. thats gonna take a LONG damn time to earn anything.

Enjoying Gief play at the moment, while most of the players haven't yet figured out or mastered the fifty different Gief counters each character seems to get.
Oh! And I saw an actual Zangief combo! You just need V-trigger. And for somebody to get hit by the super-cyclone. Aaaand have EX ready. So as long as you've already been heavily damaged and all those things are ready, you can use it anytime. It is a pretty brutal combo, though, and seems to be literally the only use for Gief's EX air SPD.
I figure I'll inevitably end up switching over to Birdie or Mika, though, just out of frustration. It's pretty obnoxious to have a grappler character who gets thrown around easily because his grapples are slow, on top of it already being something of an effort to stay on top of any given character. Heck, Mika has an AA throw which even gets priority over Gief's air SPD, plus high-mobility throw options.
Server weirdness seems to have subsided, I pretty reliably matched up with people for awhile tonight. Now I just need to get better.
In other words, I think I love Nash...

Yeah, servers seemed to have settled down, though the netcode has an odd definition of a 4-star connection. Characters popping from a few steps away to kicking you in the face in the span of a frame is not, well, particularly playable.
But the vast majority of the matches so far have had decent connections, now that we can actually play.

Man, I'm finding out that I can't play SFV like my anime fighters. Trying to go for long combos and getting blown up for it.
Anyone having issues with Lobbies? If I try to join one it no longer exists, if I create one it crashes after about thirty seconds, if my friend accepts before it times out then it crashes when he joins.
It is driving me up the wall frankly, since I can't find a casual game to save myself.

Yeah the amount of time it takes to find matches is a bit disheartening. I hope it is because Capcom is still figuring out server side issues instead of there being a lack of players to play against.

I don't know if you figured this out, but I have the same problem on an Asus laptop from last year. The GPU isn't a 970, but it's definitely an nvidia.
Basically, I set it to turn off the laptop monitor if I shut the lid. Once I do that, I get all my frames back.
I can double check the specifics, but I'm pretty sure my laptop is windows 8.1, i5, last year's nvidia card.
Hi guys, does the flag you pick when you first set up your account make any difference? I hastily just accepted the first flag there & am finding I'm barely getting connected to any fights.
Wow.
There is some salt being dispensed on V's steam review page.
tbf a lot of these complaints are legitimate
no keybinding for keyboard in a ue4 game / lack of controller support is an obvious issue thats going to piss a lot of players off and isn't hard to fix
Using my sf5 branded stick which has no problems being detected on my PC I had to download joytokey to get it to work.
I had to look for a guide on the internet to see what keyboard keys did what so I could get past the forced menus (it had ps4 key prompts) when I was trying to see what options there were in game before resorting to 3rd party software to fix the games compatibility issue with its very own licensed product.

Seriously hope it's not due to that.
That's doubtful, a lot of people just use the default flag. It's more likely that you tried playing during one of SF5's Server Downtimes™.
How does one do moves that require full circle inputs, like Zangief, without just jumping around like a dummy? I haven't received my stick yet, so I'm still using my Dualshock4 which might be part of the problem. But even with the miniscule knowledge I have in regards to fightan gaems, I feel like jumping and doing the input before hitting the ground is not the way to go.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

You don't actually need to do a full circle. 225 degrees rotation is enough. So if you start from forward and go down, press punch as you hit up back and it should do an SPD instead of jumping.

Yeah, it's like Vanilla SF4 all over again. Keep DPing on wakeup so I can practice my antiair throws.
This was my favorite back when SF4 came out, because I was playing Cammy, and she just dines out on that sort of shit. Had a guy once wakeup DP while backed into the corner and I turned it into a double cannon spike into Ultra 1 (only time I've ever pulled that off in a live match). After the fourth message calling me racial slurs I eventually muted him...
Which Madcatz sticks are friendly to PC? I would *prefer* a PS4 one because I don't have an Xbox One.

Any stick should be workable on PC. PS4 sticks may require the DS4 drivers for windows, and may require you to use joytokey or x360ce, but they should work with some tweaking.

Peewi got it right. You only need four cardinal directions, and the last one can be any of its diagonal variants. For example, I do b, d, f, uf+p.
I start from b so that I can use it to punish blocked attacks. You can also buffer it in from a meaty hop knee, which will work as a tick throw on most people at this early stage.

This shit is not acceptable.
edit:
my first lag switcher! oh joy!
Got fifteen or so matches in ranked, sitting at about 12-5 or so I think. Servers went screwy towards the end and stopped recording results.
